Marry The Night's just premiered and it's so instant! Already one of my favourites of hers on first listen  The ending is just amazing

Marry The Night is my least favourite of the 5 studio tracks we have now.

I don't dislike it though :)

The Edge of Glory 05

This is not my thing at all. I just can't get into it. It's so dated and boring for me, too happy happy and kareoke. Extremely overrated!

Hair 08.5

I live for this songs verses. It's a bit of a hot mess but the chorus is so TEOG-like which puts me off and the saxophone is so unnecessary. The song should have begun at the second verse IMO.

Marry The Night 11

This is what she should be doing the whole album through. Instant. Amazing. Goosebumps! PERFECT. It just keeps getting better and better.

MTN>>>>>>>Judas>>>>>>>>>>>>>BTW>Hair>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>TEOG

It's very hit and miss. I don't like TEOG/Hair-chorus style. I really hope the rest of the album is more Judas/MTN-like. .

'Hair' is brilliant. Not as epically brilliant as TEoG, but brilliant, nonetheless. Just started listening to 'Marry the Night'... It's alright. Not as good as the hype is suggesting though.

TEoG >>>>>>>> 'Hair' >> 'Judas' >>>>>>>> 'Marry the Night' >>>>>>...>>> 'Born This Way'.

Marry The Night is the best song from BTW so far. The production on all the songs is horrible though. She needs to work with someone who can give her a sound that can match her image.

+1

'Hair' and TEOG's production and structure is one big mess and the songs just don't suit her at all! It's like all pop rocky and boring and not a patch on the GaGa we knew and loved from The Fame and TFM eras. The only songs that suit her style are Judas and Marry The Night. This attempt to be all rock and roll is really unappealing and is something the likes of Katy Perry or P!nk would do. GaGa should stick to dance-pop and electropop, it's what she does best and is what transformed the music industry, this retro happy clappy 'Firework'-like $h!t is just POOR!

TBH 'Hair' (bar the verses from the first chorus on) and 'The Edge of Glory' sound like Hannah Montana songs! :( So so disappointing! This album is going to be so hit and miss. 'Yoü and I' sounds like it will also be another Hannah Montana jump up and down like song. It's like she's having a half of this album staying to true GaGa sound (BTW, Judas, Marry The Night, Goverment Hooker) and the other half is this Hannah Montana happy clappy $h!t (The Edge Of Glory, Hair, Yoü And I).
I'm glad I don't seem to be the only person worried about the album - it's just not what I was expecting. I thought she was going in a darker/aggressive (perhaps more experimental) direction but everything seems to be annoyingly fluffy. There is nothing special about it and could be pretty much anyone.
I completely agree. I find the love TEOG utterly bizzare, it's easily her worst single so far. It doesn't even sound like a Lady GaGa song. It's like she's doing a sub-par attempt to be the modern Bruce Springsteen with stadium-like rock but it's coming across as Hannah Montana kareoke. .

09 Born This Way

08 Judas

07 The Edge of Glory

05 Hair

I do NOT want an album full of sax/synth combos thank you very much Gaga. Hair is just a bit CRINGE, no?

I still think TEOG would be vastly improved without the sax solo and if it was a bit shorter. I totally get where you're coming from with the Bruce Springsteen / stadium comparisons... I wasn't overly impressed with the track she did live at the Big Weekend that basically ripped off the We Will Rock You beat. It's like she's turned to the 80s for inspiration and stuck with the music that was actually popular back then rather than delving a bit deeper to find the more credible and interesting music that would stand up well today.

I don't know whether to listen to 'Marry The Night' or not... Might wait till my copy arrives.

Major cringe, so cheap and nasty. I can see what she is trying to do but it just doesn't work, the production sounds so dated. Everything seems to be a bit hit and miss thus far (I had only heard Bad Romance and Alejandro before The Fame Monster but they were both ten out of ten). I'm looking forward to 'Marry the Night', 'Government Hooker' and 'Scheiße' though.

WOW.

The problem is you are never going to make saxophone sound current or edgy especially when juxtaposed with synth. It's a total paradox of musical styles. Lyrically there are issues floating around too (especially with 'Hair'). At 17 tracks and well over an hour long I think it's safe to say there are going to be the good and the bad moments. I expect the good moments to come from RedOne as a rule...

I knew someone would quote me after I'd edited TEOG down! :D

I was just thinking that, so far, the whole thing is beginning to remind me of Ta-Dah! by Scissor Sisters which is not a good thing at all. I also somehow had ridiculously high expectations, that's despite the fact that I only truly love about 6 of her songs to date so I was being rather over optimistic I guess. I just really thought this was going to be a massive electro stormer of an album where she expanded upon things like Dance In The Dark.
