Lol @ the thread called 'Album 1', as if there'll be a #2... on Syco at least.

I really don't like the album :( I want to... but I don't.

I do however LOVE the title track, 'Wide Awake'... Such a beautiful song :)

Is it just me or do his vocals sound very processed on the majority of the songs? I know in songs like 'Until The Stars Run Out' it's purposely done, but in others they just don't sound natural. Which baffles me as we all know he has a very solid voice :/

OH DEAR. There is zero buzz about this at all. It's times like this I hate being amazingly psychic.
I really love Ambitions, but can't help but wonder if he would be selling better if Wide Awake or Superman was the lead single. Either way, the album is very good. I hope it's not a total flop.
If Joe McElderry was female - every single one of you would be kissing ass!

Yes, because none of us have heard that tired old line before. Yawn.

I agree. I wish people would stop generalising stuff like this. It's hella annoying! It doesn't matter whether Joe was male or female, he just never was popstar material. People were saying this throughout his stint on X Factor. He's definitely more of a theatrical and stage performer as opposed to fully blown popstar. Will listen to the album soon, once i'm back on my laptop, and give my own judgement.
Olly Murs or Stacey Solomon really should've won, they would've both had better careers seeing as they both connected with the public far more. Joe's alright, but it feels like not much effort has gone into him and it's just been flung out as part of a contract. I feel the same with Shayne Ward as well. Shame.

Then why did he win X Factor?!

Only people on Buzzjack aren't keen on him...

I beg to differ. I do believe no other winner has ever had their post-winning single chart as low as #6.

Steve Brookstein - no single

Shayne Ward - #2

Leona Lewis - #1

Leon Jackson - #3?

Alexandra Burke - #1

As it's not only Buzzjack members that buy singles, it's safe to assume the apathy concerning Joe is rather UK general. As good as he is, he isn't a popstar and winning X Factor is hardly a guarantee that he is (Steve and Leon anyone?)

How horrendously would I be judged if I said this album on first listen is FAR BETTER than Cheryl's?

I wouldn't judge you. You're right. 'Someone Wake Me Up' is stunning.

EDIT: JamesP, you're sig is hilarious, that guy should be given an award for throwing the envelope back.

The album is quite good I'd say, loving that Farenheit seems a combination of several scissor sisters songs :) It's a shame Ambitions didn't take off, but hopefully Syco push the second single harder and better...

I agree!

I wouldn't say 'FAR BETTER' though, just 'BETTER'.

Not at all, I quite like it.

Let's face it, both Joe's album and Cheryl's album would be just as good if sung by pretty much ANYBODY else, but Joe's does have better songs. I can't help feeling that Cheryl has been given songs that nobody else wanted / didn't make it to 3 words.

Started listening to this on my home from work. I'm currently up to the very Alphabeat 'Fascination', track 'Feel Fire'(?) which is excellent. This album on the whole is so far really good. The only track I don't like is the one that samples a little bit of 'Faith' by George Michael... other than that I've loved everything else. Very solid album so far.

He sounds so GAY. I know he is but it seems thhe voice, the songs EVERYTHING about this album has been exemplified to reflect his sexuality. I don't like it at all. I still think it's a pretty decent album. Someone Wake Me Up, Wide Awake, Superman & Real Life Starter are my favourites ^_^

And I'm sure he will have a great career in musical theatre as we all keep pointing out :P

I can see the album at #3 next week behind Kings Of Leon and The Wanted and not selling a lot in the longrun.

^ Michael Buble is on X Factor tonight, right? I think that'll boost him above Joe as well...

Wide Awake is such a lovely song though. Joe should have gone into that direction instead of these copycat Mika/Scissor Sisters/Alphabeat europop songs he's been given.

04 Leon Jackson 37,197 <--- can he beat that?

I'm not sure if Joe Will Beat Leon, albums were so much higher back then. i think he will get around 50-70 though, Maybe KOL will remain number one.
