Just downloaded that Armin van Buuren/ SEB song - its a shame it isn't doing better as its great, but I guess lack of any promo is gonna make a song flop ;)

Glad Roll Deep aren't flash in the panning it. I believe that it's a song with widespread appeal, I just think that like a lot of #1's that drop initially and then stabalise, they're selling to the devoted fanbase and those that have been waiting for it first, and then others cotton on later once increased airplay and video play kicks in. Very few songs that have dropped from 1 to 4 or lower this year have actually slid down the rest of the chart at such a pace.

Yeah gooddelta, we now have three types of huge fallers from #1. Both of them are front-loaded but in different ways.

 

The first ones are charity songs. They usually fall in the fastest way. Examples: obviously Helping Haiti and 'Shout'.

Then there go ones which are selling mainly to the fanbase hence falling quickly constantly. Examples: Dizzee Rascal 'Dirtee Disco', JLS 'The Club Is Alive'.

And thirdly we have the #1s which firstly are falling fast but then stabilise. They are frontloaded only because of the cumulative hype which was unrealised in the charts due to not being out. But because they have wide appeal then they have pretty good chart-run. Examples: David Guetta etc. 'Gettin Over You', the Wanted 'All Time Low'.

 

I don't mind the frontloaded #1s which belong to the third type but I definitely against the first two types of #1s.

I don't know. :( It's not a bad song. There's some really poor new entries this week, so it's a shame that Sky's song is missing out. People who don't listen to Radio 1 won't have a clue what it is though.

The longevity in the top 300 and occasional returning to the top 100 for this is incredible given it peakerd at just #49 and was available as a free download for a long time!

I'd be surprised if he wasn't top-20. The song is bearable and 'Candy' was quite a success. Plus, this type of music is mainstream now.

 

As for the Prodigy, I smell some commercial push for this. Maybe some song usages in a random ad, TV show or something.
