Big Brother gets 2.5m a night. Their audience is also mostly young and probably the most likely to download music.

A performance on GMTV or This Morning will be watched by about 1m.

Nothing like facts and statistics to make a point.

Katy is likely to get to number 1

Although, this reminds me of when The Club Is Alive was released and ended up at 5 on Itunes by the end of the week.. and yet still ended up with a lead of 12,000

It will all come down to the amount of per-orders Olly had. The fact that he charted so high, so quickly (number 5 within a couple of hours) may give him the advanatge. There's no doubt Katy has outsold him in the last few days but Olly may have had a huge lead already on Sunday.

Well, he has the longest popularity bar, yes - but when you combine KP's several bars, thay would be significantly longer.

Yes but Olly is ahead on other download sites & has physicals which should be a few thousand so it is very close between them.

Katy will get it in the end , i'm sure of it.

Was it definately confirmed that Olly had sold 46k already in the first few days ? Pretty impressive :o .. and the fact that he sold that much already could mean he has a bigger lead than we think he has

But at the same time JLS were on Ustream yesterday at Modest Management talking about.. how its so close and everyone should go out and buy his song

Which they didn't even do for their own song :???:

I'd like Olly to get there though as I think Katy has a good chance of getting there next week

I think it will look something like this next week:

1. Katy Perry

2. Alexandra Burke

3. McFly

4. Olly Murs

5. Taio Cruz

Yes the Music Week report confirmed that Olly had sold 46k in the first midweeks; however, in their database they listed 2 entries for Olly - one at #1 and one at #8. we're not sure whether the 46k relates to the sales of that #1 and #8 combined, or whether it related to the sales of the entry at #1 only. If the latter, then he actualy sold more than 46k on the first set of mids as some of the sales at #8 will get added to his 46k.

I suspect that what actually happened IS the latter of these 2 alternatives and that his first mid sales are approx 50k. In any case, what we really need to know is what Katy's sales were on Tuesday (or what they are now) so we cn see how far behind she is and whether she's in with a shot on Sunday or whether Olly already has it in the bag.

From the pop bars I saw his morning, Katy's first version has slipped back a bit and the second version gained a bit, so looks like same as yesterday afternoon at this point, unless there's been any movement since 9am this morning.

So amazing that Katy has 2 versions of the same song in the top 10!

Really hope she can pinch the top spot, although the Olly song has been growing on me! Quite a catchy hook, lol.

I hope Taio dosent rise anymore, all his songs are just fluff and un-meaningful.

If Taio could not hold on to No 1 with Dynamite his best song which is everywhere, Katy will definately not be No 1 next week, she will probably hold onto No 1 in the album charts.

Surprised that Olly is holding on I prefered him to Joe but his song is a bit bland.

Im still happy to Buy Teenage Dream for anyone else though if you want <3

Taio didn't hold only just because we'll have top-2 (!) 100k+ selling singles. His sales for #3 single will be as big as a LOT of #1 singles this year. We shall (or shall not) have two-weeker next week depending on factors:

1. if Olly get #1 this week I'm sure Katy will overtake him next week and he will definitely not be #1.

2. if Katy is #1 this week we'll need to see new entries:

a. if McFly, Alexandra etc. don't sell massively on their first weeks she might stay at #1

b. if at least one of them is massive seller like 'Dynamite', 'Teenage Dream' and 'Please Don't Let Me Go' it will be the new #1 (again).

I honestly can't see any of next week's new entries clearing 70k. Tbh I'd be surprised if any other than McFly made 50k. Be interesting to see how the increase in sales/change in sound will effect McFly more than anything. Their last singles in 2008 didn't sell that much but the market was lower then. I'm intrigued not only to see how much they can sell next week but if the song takes their usual mammoth plunges down the chart thereafter.

I think there's no doubt that the current top 3 will be joined in the top 5 by McFly and Alex but the order will be very intriguing to watch.

You can buy either of the Album versions if you want for me? I brought the single edit but I did complete my album so it doesn't match The full album artwork on my ipod :P

I can tell you want to buy as many copies as possible..So you can do this for me if you wish

Still surprised no-one really seems to think Alex Burke will sell big next week - I think it'll probably hit around 70-90k if I'm being honest, and I can't see it selling less than 50k.

Just had a look at the pop bars posted by Arrs earlier:-

Katy's 3 versions combined are now 23% ahead of Olly, compared with 19% yesterday at 3pm, 17% yesterday at 1pm and 14% yesterday at 12pm.

That's despite the 1st version slipping back slightly - it's now 6% behind Olly, whereas yesterday it was gaining from 7%->6%->5% behind at 12 noon / 1pm / 3pm respectively).

The race for the #1 spot is still on then (unless Olly's lead in the first set of mids was massive) but Katy's 1st version really needs to dethrone Olly's version for the iTunes #1 spot and SOON; also the 2nd version needs to hang in the top 10 right through to Sat midnight (looks like it could - its now got a 13% lead over Yolanda, that should increase slightly by the end of tonight; after which the "weekend" + "album tracks decreasing" effects will kick in and Yolanda will start to gain again).

Im still happy to Buy Teenage Dream for anyone else though if you want <3

I'll take you up on that offer too, if its still on after Chris J got in before me! :)

Does the B-side for Olly, ('This One's For The Girl's) count towards 'Please Don't Let Me Go' or for itself, or not at all. Towards the chart?

Should help shift a few more copies. I've got my fingers crossed for them. Lies sold better than usual I seem to remember back in 2008 on the Itunes chart, getting to number 14 as a peak I believe which was good for them at the time. I think this could easily chart higher. Very much doubting it'll be number 1 on the Itunes chart though. That would be a massive shock.

Thanks Britterss(Kevin) Much appreciated fingers crossed she gets to the top
