It's #660 :drama:

It has! Although not sure if it has on Radio 1 or not if that's what you meant.

Scott Mills has just said he'll play it again, which means it's already been played on Radio 1.

For some reason that piece of dirt Aled Jones who sits on the playlist panel started a twitter debate against Alex this afternoon. It is obviously personal what ever she has done to him he is taking it too far.

Twitter debate ? He only asked if people had bought her song

What exactly is he supposed to have done?

His followers reply to him.

OMG THE BBC HATE ALEXANDRA AND XFACTAH THERE SO BIASED I'M NOT PAYING MY LICENSE FEE!!!!!!!

DEAR ME! :manson:

He's a Senior Producer at a publicly funded radio station. You cannot even try and pretend that he was not being anything other than vindictive just because Alex is now sitting at No 1 and yet again they got it wrong.

He asked a question to his followers that they answered. How is there anything wrong with that? Did you look at what the responses were to know if he was telling the truth when saying they were mainly negative? Even if it is in any way his opinion, which if it is, there's not a chance you could ever proove from what he posted, what's wrong with that - is he not allowed an opinion?

I think RabbitFurCoat has already pulled apart your ridiculous comment successfully. But where exactly in Aled Jones' question did he actually give an opinion on Alexandra Burke, negative or otherwise?

As for the second message, he's merely passing on feedback from listeners!

Look, I'm no literary genius, but it's quite obvious that he was suggesting that most of the people buying Start Without You were doing it because they love Alex, not because they love the song, in his first statement.

No offence but lets not be naive. You do not really believe that after all this time of not playing Alexandra's songs he finally has any real interest in her and her music. He as just being malicious and trying to justify why she has not been played.I know for a fact that you will not find another example of when he has done this. She is going to No 1 so I am past caring but really lets tell it like it is.

All this time? They've not playlisted two of her singles after playlisting her first two therefore they and everyone on their panel must hate her. Good logic there. She doesn't need it, they've both been massive radio hits despite Radio 1 not playing them and both of sold a lot. Does that not completely vindicate their decision? She gets enough sales from outside Radio 1 support, therefore the people that buy Alex Burke don't listen to Radio 1.

yay for the ting tings! :w00t: this could actually go top 10 now it's playlisted. also great to see pixie added.

It's proof again that Radio 1 base it on the artists themselves and not the songs, and if they like the artist or consider them to be relevant or whatever, even if I do think this is an awful single. Yeah she is lucky enough for now to have pretty much blanket support everywhere else but that luck can only last for so long. It's like I said last week, unlike a lot of people here I have nothing against them playlisting bands like Biffy Clyro, Vampire Weekend, The xx etc as these are genuinely popular bands that sell albums and gigs really well etc, but there is no way the playlist committee are fair all round, there is lots of bias and prejudice.

Yay! The Ting Tings finally listed and record of the week-ed :D   Was beginnig to get worried! Didn't realize alexandra b was never listed! That's another No.1/to-be no.1 that wasn't on the playlist before release!:kink:  Didnt know that It Takes A Muscle is being released as a single if it is, still great that it's listed! :D M.I.A. Should release Space as a single! Still ITAM is a great Asian-feeling song. Happy with the playlist for once! Wished they kept Flo and Em though, guess they've been there long though. But should have also put Alesha on A-List, then she would chart higher, glad they haven't dropped her out though!

Wonder when Joe Mc's new song premiers :/

Must hear Radioactive, I was still under the impression it hadn't leaked yet. I have a feeling this era might bomb a bit for them. Radioactive has a shot at #1 as it's the biggest release that week it seems, but Rob & Gary might hold the #1? Possibly... if Radioactive does go #1 I have a feeling it'll be frontloaded anyway, they definitely won't have another SOF/US sized hit... the album will obviously get #1 but again it'll probably be frontloaded and not sell nearly as much as OBTN did

Anyway... great new playlistees from M.I.A, Plan B and Swedish House Mafia    Haven't heard the other new entrants.

Yay for Danny, Tinie (should have moved up last week though), Magnetic Man and Pro Green moving up :D

Aled's tweet was phrased in a fairly antagonistic way. He pretty much accused those who had bought the song of only doing so because they like the artist and not the song. That shows a lack of understanding of the current music scene, which is a worry for someone in his position, as well as fairly rude.

Start Without You is a bit of a cheesy Summer tune, but considering how popular it is with the public, they should add it to the C-list. They add much worse stuff. Aled is all over JLS and they are the epitome of an act whose records are bought because they are popular, not because the song is good. All Night was a brilliant song, and much better than most of the stuff they play, and popular with their target demographic.

I don't know if they are being snobby towards her, or if they want to limit their support of X Factor acts, and they've decided to side with JLS and Leona.

I may be wrong but I don't think radio 1 gave much support to Leona's last release. Alex is doing well without radio 1's support for the moment but often the other major stations, like Capital follow their lead. If that happens she could be in trouble as she hasn't had time to build up a solid fanbase that will buy her albums without good airplay. However as long as her singles continue to chart highly she should be ok.

I also agree that radio 1 adopts a stance for an artist & doesn't jusdge releases on merit. Alex's music is as much suited to radio 1 as anything JLS has released though I can see why Leona's tracks don't fit their demograph.

You're not wrong at all - I Got You didn't get higher than C list (it was on there for 3-4 weeks I think).

It seems only JLS are "immune" from the anti X-Factor snobbery at the moment.

The BBC playlist panel need a radical overhaul, as they should be celebrating artists who are successful, no matter where they come from. For every Leona, Alexandra or JLS there is a Leon Jackson, Steve Brookstein or Andy Abrahams so not all X Factor contestants "instantly" do well if at all. The BBC should take cognisance of this.

I don't like this 'she doesn't need them so what's the problem?' argument. The problem is, if they DID playlist her, All Night Long could have topped the chart, and she'd be selling more records - the ultimate aim for any artist! More to the point, WHY haven't they? Start Without You I can imagine getting a negative response from some quarters, so it's exclusion sort of makes SOME sense. But All Night Long? I see no valid reason it wasn't added.

He mentioned minutes later that he'd heard the new Cheryl single and how great it is - which might well be true but WHY playlist Cheryl and not Alexandra when they appeal to similar crowds and are largely the two biggest UK females (right now, Leona fans, not ever/recently) along with Pixie, also ALWAYS playlisted.

Pitbull, they have something against him (understandably) and therefore didn't go near All Night Long.

Did they not playlist Enrique? Am positive they playlisted I Know You Want Me and Hotel Room Service?

Besides, other stations played the album edit!
