September 12, 201014 yr I'm gonna go against the grain here and say Robert Plant. Why you ask? Because his album is currently No. 2 on Amazon's album chart (only behind The XX), with The Script at No. 5 and Linkin Park at No. 31. Having said that, Linkin Park have far larger fanbase than The Script and Robert Plant (solo), although with the absolutely abysmal quality of the lead single and the album having already leaked, that fanbase is sure to dwindle. It really is a terrible album and I think a lot of LP fans won't buy it. It's going to be a very close battle, but for me, it's between Robert Plant and The Script.
September 13, 201014 yr Robert Plant is also #1 on the HMV Pre-Release chart That means nothing though. Just what they think will be top but they can be wrong too and have been a lot in the past.

Reviews have been mostly positive so far, it's been called 'Linkin Park's "Kid A"' by a few and The Catalyst has actually been received fairly warmly by fans so I think they'll hold onto most of the people who bought Minutes To Midnight first week. That did 94k, this won't do as much but I'm still hoping it'll be enough to get #1. You're letting your personal opnions cloud your judgement, not healthy that ;)
September 13, 201014 yr Does it stand for anything that "A Thousand Suns" has already been certified Gold on it's first day? Obviously that's shipments not sales, but 100,000 shipments suggests pretty healthy sales.
September 13, 201014 yr Author Linkin Park have two seperate versions of their album in itunes top at the moment, also looks like the new albums by Robyn and Kerry Ellis might chart pretty high on Sunday
September 13, 201014 yr I wouldn't say The Script were much of an albums act over a singles one, their debut went double platinum because TMWCBM went top 3 and Breakeven hugn around like a bad smell. Saying that, LP have had a much stronger singles record up to now than most rock bands... this is too close to call. Their debut went triple platinum and has nearly sold a million now. I'm going with The Script.
September 13, 201014 yr The Scipt will get this im sure - Amazon have it as their special offer MP3 of the week - £3.99!
September 13, 201014 yr The Scipt will get this im sure - Amazon have it as their special offer MP3 of the week - £3.99! Album downloads count for bugger all and tbh that's cancelled out by LP having two of the top four albums on iTunes.
September 13, 201014 yr I think it will be no1 LP no2 Script. I believe Linking Park still have a huge fanbase even if they are not fresh anymore. Although I have not heard much from their album yet it is always nice to have sth more alternative topping the charts. I expect Linkin Park will sell faster than the script ,however if the script have a better album and better singles (? I doubt it) they may outsell LP in the long run. Their debut went triple platinum and has nearly sold a million now. I'm going with The Script. What to say about hybrid theory then? :D (propably a million times better quality anyway!) History-wise there is no comparison, but it is all about their current status. Edited September 13, 201014 yr by 7heDreamer
September 13, 201014 yr Hybrid Theory is the second highest selling album of the last decade, so that says something about LP's fanbase. They're nowhere near as strong now as they were at first though, for two reasons: 1) Nu-metal is no longer a commercial juggernaut 2) Their massive change in style over the past two albums has lost them legions of fans
September 14, 201014 yr I wouldn't say The Script were much of an albums act over a singles one, their debut went double platinum because TMWCBM went top 3 and Breakeven hugn around like a bad smell. Saying that, LP have had a much stronger singles record up to now than most rock bands... this is too close to call. But it seems I was right. :magic: They are 4k ahead of Linkin Park. And I don't think that Linkin Park are able to overtake the Script now.
September 14, 201014 yr I agree history-wise there is no comparison, was just making the point that the Script have more recent success which means they're probably more embedded in the public consciousness at the moment.
