Are Take That still referred to as a Boy Band are they not 15 years too old for such a title. The Flood is a really good song so I think they are likely to beat JLS and their multiple covers but JLS will give them a run for their money.

Take That handsdown.

It's a good strategy for JLS though: those "chart battles" always increase sales. Unlike Take That or Robbie Williams, they doesn't have much to lose by not getting a #1 album, therefore, even if they miss out the top, they'll still be on advantage. It's win-win.

But yeah, they have absolutely NO CHANCE against Take That who'll surely do over 300k (maybe even over 400k. They did it with The Circus). And JLS new album certainly won't sell as well as their previous, so I'm thinking less than 200k.

I'm reading the thread and do you guys SERIOUSLY think JLS stands ANY chance?

I mean, with Robbie they somewhat did. It seemed unlikely but Robbie wasn't on top anymore, his image was a little tarnished and JLS were the new hot thing. But with Take That? They're completely, unquestionably on top (unlike Robbie was last year) and their last album had record-breaking first week sales. This album still has an "extra" bonus, with Robbie back with them again.

Honestly, I think Take That will sell twice as much as JLS.

But just because most TT fans and Rob fans are giving it glowing responses ... doesn't make it great. As I said ... its a good song (what more do you want? Blood?) It is by no stretch of the imagination great. It's a lot better than the lead single from The Circus (and better than all but three tracks from the album) for me, that's as far as it goes. The rest of the album may be great ... in which case I'll probably buy it.

And you've no more idea how it will chart than I have ... everyone thought Shame (as bad as it was) would leap to number 1 ... we were wrong weren't we?

The flood is much better than shame + much better recieved!

I didn't say it is a unique masterpiece! <_< There are even songs from 2010 that I like more than it. But it is a very good song and the hype will build on it.

I don't want blood trust me

Otherwise I would be doing medical studies instead :P

I don't want blood trust me

That's a relief!

I am actually liking the song more and more and ... I can imagine this being sung brilliantly live. Cannot wait for Take That to sing it on the X-Factor.

Of course their album will pee all over anything else in the chart the week of release (and hopefully for a few weeks following) ... but I'd like the single to get there too ... but the singles charts just recently are so unpredictable.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, the Boyband battle is now TT vs Westlife

But I think in singles no1 would be now the X Factor.... I don't understand why TT put it a week earlier to be honest  . Are they scared about leak as in EU is on 19 Nov the release of the album?

Take That will easily outsell Westlife in the Singles and Albums

& I think JLS will get to Number 1 in the Singles, but I can't see them beating Take That with the Albums

Does anyone know how much Take That sold in their 2nd week with the last album?

Take That 200k+

JLS around 160-180k

Even with JLS's huge fanbase Take That will win

Take That have moved their release dates forward so they will now only be competing with Take Thats 2nd week sales and JLS's 1st week sales

Haha. Take That are chickening out of the battle with JLS. You'd think it'd go the other way round...

Outta This World should be able to beat Progress' second week sales.

Poor Westlife, they'll never get another #1 album

Maybe it was after the crap sales of Shame that put them off

TT would have beaten JLS hands down but now theyve moved the date i reckon they'll both get the no1s

westlife dont stand a chance against TT

It's a more likely reason that Take That have moved their releases forward because of demand, rather than fearing JLS. JLS are the ones who should be breathing a sigh of relief at this news.

Now we have a Take That v Westlife battle on our hands, and on the singles chart both groups will be up against X Factor Finalists.

Well we all know who's going to win that one! -_- I'd much rather Take That got another #1, rather than the X Factor Finalists, even if it is for charity! Couldn't they just do what they're doing with the performances, and make the song ineligible for the chart, but still give all the proceeds to charity? That way people wouldn't end up hating the song so much! -_-

"Shame" sales do not reflect Take That sales, they would've easily beaten JLS imo.

The XF finalists will win is that case - what song are they covering this time?

An odd choice for TT to bring the album and single forward. Hopefully JLS do the same as Sony will want to maximize their sales, even if they fail to get to #1 going up against TT would mean more sales. I bet Westlife will now change their date now too to avoid going up against TT. Louis Walsh is probably fuming. :D

'Heroes' by David Bowie.

'Heroes' by David Bowie.

Oh please god NO :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:

Heroes is one of my all time fave songs ever - the thought of it being butchered by Cowell - it will be turned into a cheesy, overproduced load of crap with choirs and key changes.

Why on earth did Bowie allow this? I thought he hated the XF and was outraged when Queen allowed Jedward to sing his co-write 'Under Pressure' last year? It's more hypocritical then Macca performing on the show live year. I know it's for charity but really - couldnt he have given permission to one of his other songs - something already cheesy like 'Magic Dance' from the Labyrinth.

I've never heard 'Heroes' but I can tell the song is going to be sh!t£.

Yes it's for a good cause but at least come up with something original, 2008's song was called Hero.

Maybe next year they'll do 'Holding on for a Hero' , how awful!

Anyway back on topic Take That will beat Westlife (albums), lose to the X Factor Finalists 2010 (singles) and JLS will get a no.1 (singles and albums)
