One of my favourite groups ever, along with Garbage & the Cardigans. Female fronted '90s alternative groups for the win. :wub: They may have not been to everyone's tastes but when Dolores knew how to not be a crazy old bat at times, she could deliver some magic with that goat voice of hers. :lol:

 

For me, it's hard to decide my exact favourite single, but I think it's "When You're Gone" (Followed up by "Free To Decide", "Ridiculous Thoughts", "Animal Instinct", & "Ode To My Family" :wub: ).

I love The Cranberries. I chose Animal Instinct, it's beautiful.

I'm not overly familiar with their back catalogue, but I will say I have heard few songs quite as beautiful as Linger.

To choose only one? Impossible. What a brilliant band!

Hard to choose between Zombie, Promises, Animal Instinct, Ode To My Family and Just My Imagination.

I like Zombie best mainly because of its lyrical subject matter

I bought their best of when it was about £2 in Fopp and was pleasantly surprised by how many I quite liked. It definitely seemed to get progressively worse as the songs became newer though.

Dreams is my favourite, Linger second, its a shame their recent material went all naff, their debut album was awesome after that it all went tits up ( . ) ( . )

I only remember 'Linger' and 'Zombie' from the list. I used to hear some Cranberries when I was young.

SO many fantastic choices from a great band, i have to say their greatest hits album is a brilliant listen as there is so many brilliant tracks, Ode to family got my vote asi adore the song but there are a few i would have loved to have voted for such as salvation, zombie and just my imaginaion.

 

I actually got into the Cranberries by accident as such, i had always known them but wanst a huge fan but a good few years back i went to see the counting crows and the cranberries were the support act. The counting crows were terrible but the cranberries were fantastic live and i when that concert was over the next day i went straight tothe shop to buy their greatest hits and then i started buyng their studio albums after that.

 

I hope they return soon as i will definitly be buying their new album whenever it comes, thats if the re union is still on.

I do remember hearing they were back together recording again.....would be nice to have some new material from them again....the first song I remember hearing from them was 'Dreams'.....I prefer Dreams and Zombie over Linger...Linger was way too overplayed here in the US.....

"Dreams" by a mile.. This was when they were just an unpretentious guitar pop band from Ireland, and then Delores has to go and spoil it by getting a Bono-sized ego.... The lyrics of "Zombie" I find simplistic compared to U2's vastly superior treatment "Sunday Bloody Sunday", which is a much more gritty track....
