Joe has really been treated badly by the label / Simon and this single release has shown that. On top of that he has been on this crazy bumpy ride since he won. And to be fair to the kid, he does not deserve it.

Compared to Olly with 3 months of marketing, Leona and Alex with about 2 months of marketing, Joe has been given no support by the label with just two weeks of marketing and unfair attack from Heart and Capital because he is releasing his album the same week as the Wanted (the big boss at these station is also the Wanted's manager). And this week, I don't know why he don't have any TV performances when Alex, Leona, and Olly all had it.

He is a popstar. It might not be your taste, but he has a great image, very likable, very marketable, and a fantastic voice. He is this young popstar and there is no in the market right now like Joe. He really ticks all the boxes and his performances during the show proved that he has something, has talent (really great voice) and can do this. He works hard, determined to put together the best performance he can give, and charming as well, hearing some of his interviews.

I just feel like the kid is always being having to face negativity since his start. Like once he won X Factor, he is attacked and unfair to him, in the middle of this hate campaign. Ratm fans literally went to his website and plastered hate message / attack on the kids forums as well as on all his video. It was really bad to the point where the admin had to block people and censor words, etc. Then the media started attacking him and calling him a flop when he just won and still got #1 in the end, a platinum single, and the Top 5 best selling single in 2009.

Then, he is honest with himself and the media is all over him and although he has gotten a lot of support, he still has to face abuse.

And through all this Joe is still Joe and did not let it get to him. I will give props to the kid for being brave and just being himself when he knew he was going to get a lot of abuse from that point on. For a young kid, he is strong and I hope he can continue to be that because I don't think it will be the last.

Duck Sauce closing in on Bruno and Cee-Lo closing in on Joe :o I didn't even think that Duck Sauce would make the Top. 40 this is amazing! Glad The Ting Tings have moved up to#28 and slowly entering the Top.20 hopefully. Does anyone know how much a boost Later With Jools give artists? They're on it tonight and it's their last chance I guess to climb higher.

I think the point is, even his biggest fan would have to admit he has underperformed badly compared to past winners. Even Leon got three weeks at #1 with an even worse song, and granted Joe sold more opening week but that was more than partly due to fans reacting against the RATM campaign.

His personality and performance are arguably unsuited to being a modern pop star, as at least one forum member has pointed out. Maybe he didn't get the promotion Olly did because the label realised he was harder to market? The song is forgettable, and at the end of the day the record company is a business and they're not going to spend all their time and money flogging something that doesn't sell to great expense.

Wait is Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kayne West, or Michael Buble unsuitable as well to the "modern pop star"? Who is the "modern pop star"? Are those the "modern pop star" because I can tell you I don't think Miley Cyrus is or Taylor is, BUT they have carved an image for themselves that is their own and maybe that is the "modern pop star".

And Joe to that effect has right? He has carved his own "modern pop star" through who he is as a person and that should be the right approach (I mean you can't fake an image; you own it).

You cannot deny that there is no one like Joe. He has striking good looks, that big smile of his, his shorter size, Geordie accent, a sense of innocence and excitement through his youth, an exceptional voice, charming lovely personality that you know you are talking to the one and only Joe McElderry, and the story about how he became a popstar (a young kid in a northeast town of South Shield accidently discovered his voice and love of performing decided to apply to X Factor and deservingly win the entire show with note-perfect, brilliant performance every week). If you watch the entire series back, Joe really owned that series as his own story to stardom.

And the song is not forgettable and you know it is all down to marketing (for example, if the rubbish song of the "the Club is Alive" can make it to number #1 this can) but the label didn't give Joe a fighting chance. And yes it is a business, but my comment is on the lack of support and why, when Joe has proven that he does not deserve that right? He has sold over 700K of the Climb and it became platinum. He is very marketable and signed to Next Models. What point did Joe went against the label or proven he deserved to be treated like this because I haven't heard any.

Joe definitely won't do a Leon Jackson (or Steve Brookstein) as he actually has a bit of charisma and can regularly sing in tune.

However, he's off to a very bad start and its always downhill sales wise from the starting point in any X Factor winner's (and indeed contestant's) career.

Can't see his album performing well and in the current climate I think that'll be lucky to sell 200k unless he has a massive second/third single. Looks like the end of a pop career for him already, west end is beckoning I think.

I can't see Joe breaking Alexandra's first week sales of 187k for Bad Boys  at the most 40K+ for the week

I don't think Joe will get 187k in total, never mind the first week.

Stop making exuses jonmove, none of your points have any depth, just exuse after exuse, he isnt a popstar & we wish him good luck in theatre.

Stop making meaningless statment after another. It's not an excuse when it is ALL true. He is a popstar and you have NOT proven and gave a SINGLE evidence that he isn't or should do that. And we wish you good luck Joe in your popstar career.

Ergh, you are making meaningless comments which have no depth whatsoever, just dont be disapointed when you're proven wrong, i think he'll be great in theatre, whats wrong with that? He's not a popstar (he is #4 after being on x factor infront of millions & the fans who won him the show) enough evidence for you?? Just watch and see how the album does and look at the longevity of this single and you'll have enough evidence infront of you that wont have to be pointed out to you!

LMFAO.

It is a shame to see Joe failing to meet expectations, but the song just isn't good enough.

Happy that F-You looks like it'll be getting another week at the top :)

Yes, the facts have not depth. Good one. I never said it wasn't, but hey I see him as a popstar from the above mentioned evidence. And if he does end up in the Top 5 what is wrong with that? You are already calling him a flop from one single?!! Why don't you give the kid a break and give him a chance? I really don't understand why you have to hate on him already when he is just starting. Why not just wish him good luck? It's really hard to find some sense of kindness now a days.

And I am never disappointed in Joe, not once, because you know what, through all his negative events and what he is facing right now, he has always been strong and tried his best and that's all you can do given the label's mismanagement and marketing support.
