Not at all, it had three weeks at no. 1 - it just so happens it wasn't a big selling single overall. 'Break Your Heart' was the same for Taio Cruz last year; three weeks at no. 1 but not exactly one of the biggest selling #1 hits of 2009 - still wouldn't say it was a one week wonder. A non-no. 1 maybe, but not a one week wonder.

Thank god in this day and age we won't get another Love Is All Around or Everything I Do

Good Times didn't spend a 2nd and 3rd week at #1 due to luck!?!?

It had to beat, literally, thousands, and thousands of songs. There's an absolute plethora of songs that people could've bought, but those weeks Good Times outsold every single one of them. Every single one. That week it sold more than any song that any other artist has released, ever. It's a pity that none of the other tens of thousands of track available for downloads on iTunes didn't sell more in those weeks. I can't fathom how any #1 is down to luck, unless people are using a random number generator in order to choose which songs to buy.

Is any #1 down to luck? Like when JLS were #1, was it because they picked the right card out of a hat or something?

Every song that got #1 this year deserves it, and none of them are down to luck, that I know of (even though I don't like many of them.). I don't think it really matters what their total sales are, or what their chart run is.

Btw, sorry if I come across as a bit too passionate.

 Nothing wrong with being passionate - sometimes I feel I'm too passionate but I've been a UK chart follower since the mid 90s.

It was due to luck. Its sales were declining at roughly the same rate as every single other song and there was bugger all in the way of new releases popular enough to get close to outselling Good Times. It was #1 by default for weeks 2 and 3. Same applies to Alex B's SWY for week 2. This is just my opinion though.

The only time I'd ever say a first week at #1 was by luck (well, by default would be a better description really) would be if a song was #2 with big sales and then climbed to #1 on a sales decline simply because the #1 was declining faster. Examples being Steve and Joe's X Factor winning singles. They only got #1 ever because Band Aid 20 and RATM respectively were plummetting leaving no competition even though they lodged no sales increase whatsoever. So no, JLS' one week wasn't by luck.

I don't think any #1s are undeserving at all, even Steve & Joe's winning singles, as after all they did still sell more than anything else. It's just some #1s are more deserving of the distinction than others.

I was born in the mid-90s! :o

And Firework is still not top 300... Hopefully it'll be top 40 this time next week though. :D

Yeeep, not been letting me on.

Law of diminishing returns.

If ATL was their BA, HV will be their EIL.

Sorry acronym haters. Scroll over to see what they stand for if you so wish.

Yep Beat Again and All time low have had pretty similar chart runs, so I'm guessing that Heart Vacancy and Everybody in Love will also

ATL: 1- 5- 8- 10- 15- 19- 24- 14- 23- 22- 28

BA: 1 -1 -2 -4 -7 -12 -13 -17 -23 -26 -33 -38 -36 -28 -31 -35 -41 -33

I'm sure he will but we're 2 years on and the sales climate has improved when means he should be hitting 50k to equal Leon's sales - he may even be below that :o :o Shocked, can't believe any X Factor winner would sell less than the abominition that was Jackson.

Am I the only one to think calling Leon Jackson an abomination is just a bit over the top.

Bruno ever so slightly starting to pull away from number 2 :D
Even though Heart Vacancy is far better than ATL, I highly doubt it will go number 1 :( Duck Sauce's physicals will deffo push it up, and Cee-Lo will have fell by then, so I'm fairly certain Barbra Streisand will be number 1 next week, even if it misses out this week

I Think Joe Will Drop to around 11-12 by the weekend, it's falling down so fast and i expect Shame to go above it tonight.

a lot of people on here didnt expect All Time Low to go to number 1 if I recall, they thought Travie would beat it- so Heart Vacancy could surprise people

Heart Vacancy is complete and utter $h!t, but it will go to #1. :( They pretty much picked the perfect week to release it unfortunately. I expect very low sales by current standards though... I can see them selling around 60k which will still be enough to displace Cee Lo and Duck Sauce.

Edited by superbossanova

I reckon The Wanted will do over 80,000 at the very least. And it's funny that The Wanted and Travie release their singles at the same time again.

Don't think Leon Jackson managed 50k in his first week?

Might need to check that out...

Posner in the top 10!!! AWESOME.
