October 15, 201014 yr I must be the only person in the UK who will freely admit this, but i freakin LOVE Katie. If only Kate Miller-Heidke was known outside of Australia :drama: Katie would sound incredible singing Words  Noooooo, she'd completely massacre it and they'd probably dress her up as an alien.... Not words! Have mercy! :snif:
October 15, 201014 yr Noooooo, she'd completely massacre it and they'd probably dress her up as an alien.... Not words! Have mercy! :snif: I think she has the kind of voice that could pull of Kate M-H well, perhaps not Words. She might do Can't Shake It justice, well as close to justice as an X Factor contestant can get to sheer epicness. They probably would dress her up weird tho :( Shame. Kate M-H deserves better than aliens
October 15, 201014 yr I thought Bowie hated The X Factor. This is going to be horrific isn't it? :( I think he does ... besides ... isn't Simon Cowell on record somewhere as saying he thought David Bowie (together with Kate Bush) was highly overrated ... and he didn't get the point in their music. As I say ... Mush would be mortified at this news ... and This Is Pop would just go off on an Ape-$h!t rant (and rightly so!) Kath

Kath Heroes is the perfect song for this years mostly talentless bunch. It is a song that is mostly speaking, no high notes and it will probably include autotune.

October 15, 201014 yr Oh god. Admittetly I found their mime to Rhythm Of The Night much better than the one's from the previous series's so there is still a small, slight chance they may not murder it. Oh who am I kidding, it's going to be dreadful.
October 15, 201014 yr Heroes is the perfect song for this years mostly talentless bunch. It is a song that is mostly speaking, no high notes and it will probably include autotune. Well it isn't my favourite Bowie song so no real harm done. They've probably chosen it to show of Cher's excellent ©rapping! Kath
October 15, 201014 yr I must be the only person in the UK who will freely admit this, but i freakin LOVE Katie. If only Kate Miller-Heidke was known outside of Australia :drama: Katie would sound incredible singing Words  As if by magic :magic: there's one other person who likes her - MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  I do feel slightly swindled that she has already had a record deal and worked with Syco, but on raw facts (sense of fashion + individuality + voice) she's a 9.5/10 for me, and only Matt is a 10
October 15, 201014 yr I like Katie too, as I've expressed here a few times before, and I really don't get why she's public enemy #1 round here/in the media? She's a decent singer with a nice tone to her voice with a good image. She has a questionable personality, but doesn't nearly everyone in the music industry? No surprise that I agree with Phil and Tom on something though really is it
October 15, 201014 yr I feel really sorry for Katie. Not even the strongest of people could deal well with the amount of hate she's getting :(
October 15, 201014 yr I like Katie too- I just feel sorry for her and think she is a decent singer, but there are some idiots out there that hate her just because she got in over Gamu <_< and :puke: at the new charity song- this ones very different from Hero and You Are Not Alone- which were both ballads, they'll probably change this though like they did with Hallelujah :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:
October 15, 201014 yr 'You Are Not Alone' was terrible. :puke: I heard the song and couldn't even identify half the contestants - got a shock when I saw the video. I had a "what? that's Olly singing?" moment. Surely 'Heroes' will be better than 'YANA'. Poor Michael Jackson, denied a posthumous UK no. 1 (thanks to Cascada) so Simon Cowell punished the whole of the UK with that!!! :manson: It also didn't help that some of the contestants last year were hidious. At least 'Hero' in 2008 seemed like a genuine one off at the time and the X Factor 2008 series had some decent talent showcased in the live finals. Sadly that doesn't appear to have happened with the two series' since. You know you're in trouble when a lady who I work with (massive X Factor fan) says to me "is it just me or is this years series really $h!t".

But it is an entertainment show primarily (the singing is secondary) ... and Katie's entertaining ... for the moment. She's not a good singer ... her voice is quite thin ... and it seems that even Cheryl doesn't like her - giving her WATC to sing. I'm not Katie's number 1 fan ... but as thin as her voice is ... she does sing more in tune than a lot of them ... and most notably Cher (who is utter pants). I really hope Katie lasts longer than Cher ... who is getting on my wick with all this 'fragile' stuff ... to me she seems as hard as nails. Sadly ... I think both of these will be in it longer than Rebecca (best singer by a country mile ... but as I said ... this isn't a singing competition.) Kath
October 15, 201014 yr I don't mean to sound rude Kath, as I do respect your opinion - but why do you watch X Factor, as you only ever seem to criticise it and be cynical over every aspect? :(
October 15, 201014 yr I don't mean to sound rude Kath, as I do respect your opinion - but why do you watch X Factor, as you only ever seem to criticise it and be cynical over every aspect? :( Because its an entertainment show. I can watch it to be entertained (for instance at judge's house stage ... we had a get together at our house ... hot pot supper, beer for the lads, glass of white wine for the ladies ... and then sat and had a good laugh at the contestants). Surely its the only reason people watch. You don't think I'm one of those idiots who watches ... considers and then picks the phone up and votes. And besides ... check out the other posters here ... most of them criticize some / all of the acts. Would you rather everyone liked all the contestants and we all said how great they are when they're rubbish. I do actually think there is some talent this year ... Rebecca, Matt and Aiden ... the rest (even though Mary was superb on Saturday) really are just ... not very good. Hope that answers your question. :) Kath Edit ... I am flattered that you respect my opinion ... but there's no need. I know nothing about music ... that's why I'm a Take That fan. Edited October 15, 201014 yr by Kathyp
October 15, 201014 yr I know nothing about music ... that's why I'm a Take That fan. Saucer of milk for Kath, please!!! I agree with Kath, The X Factor is an entertainment show which is guaranteed to get people talking. Everybody has an opinion and it doesn't get more opinionated than The X Factor. That's why out of all the talented nobodies who initially auditioned, Louis considers Wagner as one of the 16 most talented contestants from 2010. You just have to laugh really. :D

She's a decent singer with a nice tone to her voice with a good image. She has a questionable personality, but doesn't nearly everyone in the music industry? No surprise that I agree with Phil and Tom on something though really is it :lol:I agree completely. Katie gets a hell of a lot of stick on here particularly. Also in the media and it pisses me off how the media has made Cher and Katie out to be evil bitches, probably not wrong, but somehow it's all exaggerated and taken way out of context and stuff. All that stuff Trey-C said in her VT about not feeling welcomed... I dunno about anyone else, but it sounded like she was forced to say it. Well forced sounds a bit to harsh, but hope you understand what I mean  People are quick to jump on bandwagons.
October 15, 201014 yr Song choices heavily rumoured so far (AND THESE ARENT JOKES LIKE LAST WEEK LOL) Mary Byrne kicks things off with ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’ by Dusty Springfield while Storm will be performing Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.
October 15, 201014 yr ERGH. 'Purple Rain' is being over used on X Factor now. Let it go, I very much doubt anyone will beat Ruth's version! :drama:
