October 12, 201015 yr joe sang on x factor infront of 13 million i think that balances olly having more tv play ? haha olly got number 1 str8 away without x factor if i was joe now id be VERY worried hate both songs tho joe's is terrible and olly's was rubbish so both dont deserve number 1 anyway Compare Olly's radio airplay to Joe's radio airplay then. The contrast between the two is absolutely ridiculous (are radio stations choosing not to play Joe's song, or have they not been given the track?). And I hope Forget You doesn't manage another week at #1. I hope Barbra Steisand, or something else can beat it. Btw, if anybody cares, they basically said on Radio 1 who the top 3 in today's mid-weeks are, and they basically said that Joe is 4th, even though they're supposed to keep it a secret. They're so happy he's not #1... Edited October 12, 201015 yr by Eric_Blob
October 12, 201015 yr Even if joe dosnt reach number 1 and has good sales then its not all bad im sure the label would be happy with strong consistent sales.
October 12, 201015 yr LOL @ Joe..... Olly should've won X Factor.....by far the better singer....better song too.
October 12, 201015 yr LOL @ Joe..... Olly should've won X Factor.....by far the better singer....better song too. Joe's a much better singer than Olly. But I think Olly has a better personality for the industry. I think a lot of people who like "proper" music don't like the fact that Joe is so innocent and happy all the time, which I think is cruel, but I know a lot of people who listen to artists who are constantly going in and out of prison, getting into fights, etc, so they're obviously not going to like Joe.
October 12, 201015 yr It says a lot when Joe McElderry with his eagerly awaited first proper single is struggling to get to no. 1 yet Alexandra Burke who won two years ago got to no. 1 with ease when 'Start Without You' was released - as cheesey as it is, I prefer 'Start Without You'. Like others have also pointed out, Olly got to no. 1 without any TV exposure on the same level as Joe over the weekend. Again, I personally think 'Please Don't Let Me Go' is a far superior song to 'Ambitions'. Just my opinion but yet interesting how this is being reflected in the UK charts so far this week. 'f*** You', 'Barbra Streisand' and 'Just The Way You Are'; all brilliant. :D
October 12, 201015 yr Even if joe dosnt reach number 1 and has good sales then its not all bad im sure the label would be happy with strong consistent sales. Err...? Where do you see 'strong consistent sales'? It's only Tuesday and he's already down from #2 to #6 in iTunes. His first week sales will possibly be more than half of his overall sales - which definitely doesn't show any of 'strength' and 'consistency'. :P Very happy for Magnetic Man, brilliant album! :D
October 12, 201015 yr If Michael Andrews stays top 20 we'll have three Michaels (well, 2 and a Mike) in the top 20. Has that ever happened before? Probably won't stay top 20 though There have been three in the top ten - sort of. In December 1984 Band Aid (with George Michael), Wham (ditto) and Shakin' Stevens (real name Michael Barratt) were all in the top ten :D
October 12, 201015 yr Poor Joe. He was the best singer in the competition last year but it was a p*** poor year
October 12, 201015 yr Shame about The Ting Tings' brilliant new song, but not at all unsurprising as it's been criminally ignored almost everywhere
October 13, 201015 yr According to the experienced, knowledgeable (+ insanely deluded and desperate) chart followers on Jo's forum, unfortunately we have been given, for the first time ever, in the history of BJ incorrect info :o From the musicweek report they (somehow - the mind boggles) drew the conclusion that the top 4 were all close in sales. When they looked at the iTune chart the fact that a couple of the records near the top have significantly selling separate releases pases them by.Of course the fact that Joe has now already BOMBED out of the top 5 ALREADY makes their original conclusion null + void but i think there could be a slim chance such a resounding CAREER DEATH KNELL will slip past them :heehee: I thought Joe was just an another innocent victim of Cowel's phony wholly PR'd constructed, beards + all, media personality + shallow, heartless greed until what i've been reading recently. Joe's got no problems having his own fanatics as mods on his forum, clearly impartiality is meaningless when it comes to positive image creation.I just read on a ceefax interview where he stated the Sun 'coming out' article was "truthful + honest" http://209.85.12.227/431/162/emo/rotfl.gif - yeah JUST like Mark's(WL) + Stephen's(BZ) were honest + not major PR damage limitation exercises to cover the sick exploitative manipulation + deceit Rec co.s use with Boybands. It was just an UNIMAGINABLE coincidence that at the same time, Jo's recent, local, super fit/hairdresser/model (read shallow, egocentric, attention seeker - ring any bells?? they must have got along like a house on fire ;) ) shag had 'kindly informed' the media of the intimate details (incl. leading up to) of their one off relationship + Joe would of course be entirely oblivious to such a personal betrayal of trust  O/T (nearly as shocking as finding out Mark Owen has (GASP!) SEXhttp://s3.rimg.info/64b2928c76cbe1cb29f780da3a8b79b6.gif + not even with his own wife FFS but i did think nobody could be quite as bland, pious and soulless/mellow as he made out relentlessly(more like a robot than a human) just like that other sick deceptive slithering snake the Arch(in such low life techniques)Dronan Keating (ROFLMAO to all those endless platitudes he spouted about, like a Saint, on religious and relationship morals :heehee:) So now perhaps rather than being a naive victim, Joe is so much like Cowel he deserves all he gets especially now his career is just waiting for the guillotine to fall http://www.subvertcentral.com/forum/images/smilies/icon177.gif .......
October 13, 201015 yr A guillotine smiley, wow! Rudebox is an underrated masterpiece and the only robbie album I own :yahoo: The Rudebox album has a number of fantastic tunes, hence the critical acclaim it received from proper music mags and broadsheets but the song itself , Ivor Novella nominated or not, is a bit of a p*** take let's be honest. It has some amusing lyrics but is not one of his better singles. I still prefer it to 'Shame' though. :) 'Rudebox' the album is very very very good. I should listen to it again  lol. i hope these aren't all sarcasm. Rudebox rocks! It was just too abstract and ahead of its time i think. Some big fans liked it but it didn't suit the usual "mum for Xmas" market that usually helps Robbies typical Q4 release album sell 2 million copies. Hope this one knocks it out the park and there are about 5 versions! In terms of the Joe-Olly comparison, visually and sonically its Will Vs. Gareth all over again only this time the public did as predicted and made the wrong choice as the chart position appears to show. He should still get work in gay porn once he's washed up with a face like that at least so he shouldnt worry. oh, and go Ting Tings!
October 13, 201015 yr How embarrassing for Joe! Especially when Olly & Alex recently had number ones.

October 13, 201015 yr Author We could have a second version of the mids this afternoon from Radio 1 without Joe's B-side.
October 13, 201015 yr Correct! Everything below #31 has moved up a place, and they have Plan B at #40
October 13, 201015 yr Author Correct! Everything below #31 has moved up a place, and they have Plan B at #40 I knew that was coming  Only just a minor change with Coldplay
October 13, 201015 yr Glad to see Coldplay climbing- would be great to hear it on the chart show on sunday  and Usher top 30 :puke: I thought we were finally rid of it :(
October 13, 201015 yr We could have a second version of the mids this afternoon from Radio 1 without Joe's B-side. Why would there be a version without the B-side?
