January 11, 201114 yr I find it amazing how they couldn't have launched her better and maintained her success releasing the right singles, then when it came to re-releasing it they couldn't have done it worse, and released two dreadful singles that both flopped. If they got it right they could've grabbed those huge christmas sales, total idiots.
January 11, 201114 yr Pixie Lott isn't up to much in my eyes anymore. I heard her concert in London was dead. I walked past the venue like an hour before doors opened and there was no-one there. Other than like 3 people but they walked away. I lol'd so hard. Its a shame really. She had such potential and could've even had a hit via Ke$ha (They are really close friends and use to hang around when Pixie was in LA recording the first album) but...
January 11, 201114 yr Author This was apparently due to be released as a Christmas single, but they were unable to due to label politics Article: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a29...jls-collab.htmlThis baffles me so much. I don't get why they are allowed to record the duets, but then are not allowed to release it  WHY MAKE THE DUET THEN? Same with Eminem too! 'Love The Way You Lie (Part II)' and 'Airplanes' could have been big/bigger if it wasn't for Eminem and his label. Pathetic.
January 11, 201114 yr I hope Pixie still manages to release it.. beyond patheitc.. or she should get someone else to do Jason Derulo's vocals. Pixie Did well in my eyes album over 760k. Sell out tour (even in london) and Silver rocket! Can't Make this over DID not get released ! it was cancelled!

Sell out tour (even in london) and Silver rocket! Can't Make this over DID not get released ! it was cancelled! Makes no difference, it was still promoted as a single and did nothing on iTunes. It would've still missed the top 200 either way.
January 11, 201114 yr Maybe they could release it, but just cut out Jason's part and either have Pixie cover it with another verse or get some other guy to do it. This surely means Pixie can't release it in America? :o She could replace Derulo with Neyo, Bruno, Usher, Taio, B.O.B...any big male rapper/singer?
January 11, 201114 yr Yeah, Pixie could easily get somebody Like Bruno Mars to replace him, is there any chance she could sort this label thing out? They should have known before this that there would be problems. I find it amazing how they couldn't have launched her better and maintained her success releasing the right singles, then when it came to re-releasing it they couldn't have done it worse, and released two dreadful singles that both flopped. If they got it right they could've grabbed those huge christmas sales, total idiots. Pixie has been picking most of her singles, The label wanted to release My Love instead of Turn It Up. The Label then wanted to release Doing Fine (Without You) but Pixie wanted broken arrow. I'm gutted doing fine (without you) is brilliant. Pixie and the label both wanted Coming Home to be a single released at Christmas time, hence the rush release for Can't Make this over (which had no promotion). I think Pixie's done with Turn It Up Louder as she's focusing on America with a different tracklisting... if anything i seriously hope she releases Rolling Stone or Doing Fine without you in Feburary to help get the album to 800k.. Massive achivement for her. Happy Birthday Pixie.

January 12, 201114 yr You know this how, exactly? It was in an interview ill find the passage for you.. I think if you write your own songs and then approach a label and you’ve already got a bulk of the album done then you get to have more say", Pixie says. "Nobody’s tried to manipulate what I do. With the last single 'Broken Arrow' the label wanted to go with a different single but I love that song so I put my foot down. 'Broken Arrow' is a sweeping, dramatic ballad that gives her a chance to show her other side. It’s not all about all-night parties and nice frocks in Pixie-land you know. "Exactly", she says. "I like songs that are emotional. I love up-tempo songs too, but definitely songs where the lyrics are also emotional." The Only uptempo songs are - Rolling Stones and Doing Fine(Without You) Well done to her for making the best possible choice with 'Turn It Up' Shame about the 'Broken Arrow' over 'Doing Fine (Without You)' situation though... Yeah Turn It up was brilliant, with a great video. Broken arrow i thought was an alright lead single imo. Not brilliant but it took a while.. however doing fine does stand out. Brilliant song and i hope she releases it to rock up only her 4th top 10 if you include Young Soul Rebels. Her Re-Release hasn't did all that great but it's shifted more than 150k copies which many albums struggle to do alone with 12 new singles on it. Pixie Lott - Turn It Up - 760k+ Sales. January 12, 201114 yr I wish they'd have released 'Here We Go Again' instead of 'Turn It Up', to be honest, although still at least they didn't go with 'My Love' afterall, what a disaster that would have been.
January 12, 201114 yr Author I don't get the part where she talks about "it's not all party tracks in Pixie land" or whatever. She'd released 'Cry Me Out' and 'Gravity' to very respectful amount of success. Or did she forget she released those? :drama: 'Here We Go Again' is, indeed brilliant. But I'm glad they didn't go with it as RedOne was getting slightly over used at the time.
January 12, 201114 yr What does "label politics" actually mean? I hadn't realised that Can't Make This Over had been cancelled, but it explains why I can't find any version other than the one sitting on the album. I'm glad it was though. Doing Fine would have been a much better lead single for the re-release over Broken Arrows purely because she's very ballad heavey atm and it would have got peoples attention again. But it does give the hope that Mercury will pick an uptempo to lead of the second album.
January 12, 201114 yr What does "label politics" actually mean? The mainstream music industry is more than just artists making songs and then releasing them. There's these record labels, who might often be in competition with them. Artists from the same record label are often encouraged to say good things about other artists from the label in interviews, and they are often encouraged to do collaborations with other artists from the label, sample songs by the other artists on the label, etc. Mainly basic things like that, but sometimes things can get a little bit more complicated. One label that I follow in particular is AATW. They make dance compilation album every 6 months, and N-Dubz and Skepta (two of their main artists now) are always on the albums now, seemingly, and a lot of fans of dance music find this annoying, since they don't consider them 'dance' enough. They've also done a collab now, which is no random coincidence. I don't fully understand what's going on with this song, but if Jason and Pixie are on different labels, perhaps the people that manage Jason don't want to release the song now, or have other plans for Jason, so they won't let him help promote the song? Or they don't even have permission to release it as a single?
January 14, 201114 yr I agree with some of the comments here. Her label started off fine with three massive tracks. 'Cry Me Out' didn't get a high peak but it sold a heck of a lot. I think releasing Gravity when they did wasn't the best and should have been 'Turn It Up' or 'Here We Go Again.' Although Gravity sold the album loads, I would have had it as the 5th single that she sang on Britain's Got Talent. I don't think two ballads in a row is always the best idea after two massive #1 untempo songs that have been directed at teens. So that is all okay, but the re-release has been handled so poorly. Pixie Lott could have been massive if she was given the correct songs to release. Broken Arrow was a nice song, but may have done better as a second single from the album if an untempo song was released first. It's also silly that she couldn't release 'Coming Home' as that would have pretty much been a top 40 hit regardless. It already went top 40 on iTunes. Can't Make This Over is a great song, but it was always going to flop unless she got an X Factor slot. Out of her 5 most recent singles (CMO, Gravity, TIU, BA & CMTO), only one isn't a ballad and I do think she needs more untempo songs to stay relevant to the audience she was originally marketed to. Coming Home is also another slow song, so I kind of think releasing it as a 3rd single from the re-release, it probably would have damaged her further anyway in the long run, even if the other person on the duet saves the single from flopping. Though without the amount of money I bet has been pumped into her, I doubt her label will be giving up too quickly.
January 14, 201114 yr She has likely lost her label a bit of money with her re-release, broken arrow and can't this over not really do that well. Her tour may have made up for it but the artist usually gets majority of money made from gigs. They better hope her american career goes well.
January 16, 201114 yr i think they should end this era with coming home and then 2nd album realsed in the us cos its too late to realse turn it up there
