I heard about this on the Scott Mills show (Radio 1) last week. I was hoping that to be pushed forward.

Edit: I agree, it's better than the "silence" song.

I fail to understand what these campaign's hope to acheive... they're hardly fighting for the 'integrity' of a Christmas #1 spot...

I would totally back a campaign if it was for, The Pogues/Mariah Carey/Slade etc...

You know, I'm totally up for this, it's time that everybody knew that the bird is the word. A-ba-ba-ba-ba-bird, ba-bird's-the-word...
I love this to be the Christmas #1 :D I'm up for it
OMG I love this song, since I've heard it in Family Guy

AT LEAST THERE'S A SONG IN THIS!

I love Family Guy, so I may have to jump on this "campaign". However, if either Cher, Aidan or Trey-C win X Factor. I will not hesitate in buying their song too :kink:

And people said the silence campaign was stupid...

I knew I was gonna be sick of too many campaigns trying to get on the success of rage, I only back the John Cage one for its uniqueness and humour, and the fact i'd see complete silence being number 1 over the x factor being really funny, just like how i liked the idea of an explict, anti-capitalist against the system uncommercial protest song being on top of the highly commercial x factor, the point was made, this surfin bird campaign is just not extreme enough.

That Song :puke2: :puke2:

Family Guy :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:

Whilst I think the silence is a stupid campaign, at least this is an actual song and I would love to see this at number 1, its a classic :D

I think we'll end up with a lot of entries in the christmas chart, thanks to all these campaigns

indeed, none will go number 1 because it needs to be focused on one campaign, like last years was, because it really does take that many people to compete with the x factor's 3 month advertising campaign, if the people who are actually up for buying something due to a campaign are split between a few campaigns they will barely make top 10 let alone number 1, it looks like an epic fail and pointless if they dont at least get top 3.

I'm sorry Chris but how is this campaign any different or less 'gimmicky' than the John Cage one?

If we had to slavishly repeat what has already been achieved last Christmas (unique, interesting, exciting), which I for one don't see the point of because the point has already been made - then I would get behind THIS forChristmas #1, for obvious reasons - and the fact that Simon Cowell effectively blocked them from getting to #1 twice back in 1995. Revenge best served cold. :)

I'd love it to see it at number one! I love Family Guy and this song deserves succes. Have you heard a ballad version that Peter sang in the last episode of Family Guy? :D

I didnt say the John Cage one isnt gimmicky, before i even knew that campaign i wasnt going to bother backing any but the John Cage one sparked my interest due to the idea of complete silence being number 1, it sends out a message, what does getting bird is the word number 1 even achieve? getting silence to number 1 gives a different and more humourus message than the Rage campaign did, the point of the john cage campaign isnt to stop the x factor, people are just assuming that, the person who made it, made it to amuse himself, but if people (such as i) want to back the campaign as a means to stopping the x factor again so be it. bird is the word is more a campaign for the sake of it, where as the guy who made the john cage campaign wouldnt care if it had less than 10 members as he made it for the lolz. I would also back Pulp being number 1 to beat the x factor, just as a FU to Cowell, that is another of the very few i would actually bother backing.

I think people will jump on the most successful campaign boat. Other way we will have several top-10 'campaign' songs and still XF winner at #1 during Christmas.
Is it sad that I already own the album 'Surfin Bird' by The Trashmen? :( Definitely won't be downloading this one, it's pretty pointless. At least the 'silent' campaign had reasoning behind it!!
I wouldn't mind this getting to #01 over silence which IS completely f***ing pointless. Maybe funny for like a day, but it still seems pathetic. At least this is a funny song, although a bit old and the Family Guy episode is particularly overrated.
