Adele up to #9. Overrated much although Rebecca done a stunning version of the song. So it's kinda 50/50 for me.

I still don't understand the relevance of the Big Top 40 show. Kind of a waste of airplay time.

To be fair, I do enjoy the Big Top 40 Show, because they play nearly all of their top 40, and there's little talking in it, as opposed to the Radio 1 show. At the beginning of the show, they play the "mid-week" top 10, where they usually manage to play the top 10 in 30 minutes (they sometimes shorten the songs a bit though), but I think Radio 1 should learn from that. Whenever there's a song I don't like on the Radio 1 show, or they're talking about something boring for ages, I usually turn to the Big Top 40 Show.

 

The main annoying thing about the Big Top 40 Show is that they factor in airplay for positions 11-40, so songs like California Gurls are still really high in the chart. And those songs that go top 10, but get barely any commercial radio airplay have weird chart runs like 4-6-9-38, and those songs like Insatiable, Take Control, etc. won't make the top 40 at all, due to the airplay factor. :( I am SO glad they don't include airplay in the official chart. Seriously.

 

The other problem is you get the songs that drop out of the top 10 during the show, so they don't chart at all, even though they were quite popular that week. And there was one week where a bunch of tracks were deleted off iTunes during the show, so that completely messed up their chart, and they had like 5 tracks that didn't chart, although I didn't care, because Rock That Body got top 10! :D

 

I think a much more interesting thing to do with the show would simply be to have the live iTunes top 40 as the chart. It'd be far more interesting, as all those Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc. songs wouldn't be having 65 weeks in the top 40. There'd be some album tracks and remixes in there and stuff, although they'd still have a lot of songs charting twice.
