Posted November 2, 201014 yr I was just thinking that it has been quite a long time now since Kelly was Huge in the UK... If you take in to consideration how big the breakaway era was and for her to comeback with the My December era and only get one charting single, be over and then comeback with All I Ever Wanted and only get one hit single and then flop... the future isn't looking too good for Kelly?! 3 UK flop albums and one selling more than most global superstars ever achieve here, it just doesn't add up? You would have thought more people would have bought the My December album even if they didn't like Never Again, just because of how much they loved the Breakaway album / More people would have bought the All I Ever Wanted album after My Life Would Suck Without You went to number one? So what do you think she is doing wrong? Not in the UK enough? Lack of promo? Lacks image cohesion? No media attention? Will she be able to turn this around?! or is that it for Kelly in the UK? I love Kelly and i LOVED the breakaway album, i really liked My December too even though it was a little hit and miss but i don't see her being able to become a megastar in the UK again with the likes of GAGA about, who is 24/7 the popstar, not just when she *is being forced* to make an appearance on the TV and dress accordingly. I think Kelly needs to enjoy promoting aside to touring and be more within media circles to get extra exposure... she needs a 24/7 image, great songs, appearances on huge shows like the X Factor, stop trying to be credible and then coming out with a song like My Life Would Suck Without You... I also think huge American stars, such as Gaga/Katy Perry/Xtina/ Beyonce/ Britney/ (Rihanna/Shakira too - even though not actual americans but global stars) integrate + enjoy being in Europe and to an extent tone down the OTT american attitude when promoting, i don't think Kelly has grasped this yet...
November 2, 201014 yr I love Kelly because of who she is. Her attitude is part of her appeal for me. I like that she refuses to conform to being stick thin and that she's very happy to be exactly who she is. On the music front, i loved Never Again but i really prefer the Dr Luke/Max Martin stuff. Wash, Rinse, Repeat is exactly what i want to hear from Kelly.
November 3, 201014 yr This is exactly the reason why I love Kelly. She's not about being in the media like GaGa, Britney, Katy Perry etc... She's about being real and wants to try and pull away from being "the first AI winner" etc... Etc... The 'All I Ever Wanted' era started off the best possible way for her (although I personally feel MLWSWY would have been bigger, released mid-feb as opposed to end Mar/beg Apr) but it started to go down hill thanks to lack of promo for future singles and wrong choices. She really should have gone for 'Already Gone' as the second single and maybe should have started promo for that as she was coming towards the end of the MLWSWY promo. Live lounge would have been nice. Instead of SUBG, she shoulda done the next single etc... The Katy Perry reject was not 2nd single material :( She will never be as big as 'Breakaway' was, ever again. But she will still remain relatively successful, I believe.
November 11, 201014 yr As much as I love Kelly, I don't consider she has ever been huge. She did well during the breakaway era but she hasnt been consistent before or after breakawayt in terms of her sales to be considered "huge".
November 18, 201014 yr I do not hook up was a really crap song, i think that was the problem, cause i think the uk does like kelly
November 20, 201014 yr I think she should go dance-pop/electro-pop, that seems to work for most other artists.
