I got Loud yesterday. I dunno, I like LOUD, but it's like I keep searching for 'that song' that's gonna take me to another place like RatedR did, and none of them do. Anyhow, it's what she needed to re-invigorate herself on the album sales front.

and if we talk about which album is more catchy, LOUD wins, but if we are talking about quality, in this aspect i think Rated R is far better even if it's less commercial/catchy.

Take that were NEVER massive accross europe... what do you mean massive? What is most weird is that people saying that do know more about charts than I do... Patience had a little success but I doubt they received any heavy European cetifications. (also consider the market was at a better state back then) 400K was not massive at all imo... (It is not that, but it could be translated like 1Xplat in Germany and 1Xplat in France)

ALSO:

Has any other song of TT except for Patience even recieved any top10 placing in Europe? I remember Cheryl managed that with FFTL (she is a UK only act as well) LOL

That That had been massive with 'BW' in Germany at least, and the current hype is similar. Didn't heard Greatest Day played much on the radio, and not many talks about the album (apparently only fans knew there was a new album out). This time 'The Flood' is doing really well in the airplay charts, #12 for the single (would have done better if the download sales would have count), the album is currently getting a lot of press promotion so it should sell well on Friday.

If not, in two weeks when the promo starts.

Take That Progress only £5 on 7digital.com btw! Cheapest i've seen it so far, and good site!

You can download it for £3.99 from Amazon this week.

Progress is No. 1 on amazon in Germany.....it'll be released on Friday. Not bad considering there hasn't been any serious promotion. Sales will be huge here as well. It'll definately be Take That's biggest album ever.......
I think the difference with take that mark2 was they didnt really do much promotion outside the UK and Ireland and they mainly based their career in the UK to a certain degree where as take that phase 1 went round the world promoting at that time.

I go to Germany fairly regularly, and I've noticed that they seem to be played on the radio stations played by taxi drivers.

I agree that a big difference second time around is how they've promoted, in particular toured. They probably could have toured in Germany, possibly filled quite a few arenas, but they were doing stadia in the UK and it was just too much unecessary work to translate the show to smaller venues.

I do recall from first time around they released a video of them "Live in Berlin" and that was a big arena tour, so they must have been pretty big back then.

They have European promotion planned for this album. I know they are going to do a big TV show in France.

And for that, they can thank Robbie.

The album went to #2 but only went 1 platinum award (200,000) s I'm not sure I'd describe them as being 'massive'. Many of their Germany Arena dates on the BW tour were not sold out - although the tour was still a sucess it must also be pointed out, but again not 'massive'.

I am still surprised they are going to try and break France with this album. TT have never had any real success in the French market at all - most of their songs and albums have never even charted (I think Never Forget was the only one getting to 40-something) - even Back For Good, despite being a massive global hit was not in France. It's a tough market to break and it took Robbie many years before he broke it - and was at stadium selling levels. At least with other European countries they have a past history of success and people will remember them. I think it is largely due to them wanting to play a concert date in Paris (Robbie said there would be one to a fan a while ago) so in order to do that they are promoting French TV. I could be wrong but I think that would be the main aim.

As I said due to all the European promotion that is lined up - this album has a good chance of doing well. The European stadium dates have not sold out yet, but I also think once it is marketed properly and they are seen on TV accross Europe - they will need to start adding dates. They have plenty of time to achieve all of this - the tour isn't until next summer.

Shame is reappearing in top 40 then :o, All the Take That fever this week and still they aren't getting the no.1 single with Flood. Doubt they give two figs though with the album sales!

Hurts top 40 :w00t: :D :D :D

Made a snap decision to see them live tonight

They need to do a French version of the song... "Meme si personne n'a compris, on a retenu la crue..." OK, needs some work

Shame for McFly but completely predicted. I think if they impress with their next single(s) they'll get some more non-fans buying the album.

Edited by sasha2

Think JLS have it in the bag, but I can see Ellie Goulding climbing to No.3

Err I know this will be the TT thread this week which is totally fine but its chart predictions in uk chart chat so could people stop banging on about their european career in here!

Woah on those sales! If they continue on 70k daily for the next 3 (and may do more on sat id wager) they will clear half a mil confidently, though oasis may be safe

Good for rihanna. All round, shame shane and mcfly are struggling in albums, although from the previews despite slightly better production shanes album is still to syco-ballad driven for my liking. Wonder how they'll hold this week and will westlifes "safe" bet miss top10 despite xf performance?

um...should be patient to wait for the full report...i think McFly will have it top 10...unless the really hardcore fans don't want to push the sales cuz they get it for free :S

for me (if im in the UK) id still be buying an album even tho i have it for free...buy it for someone never wanted to heard them in class :yahoo:

actually does anybody care about the McFly sales? lol seems like we three are the only ones talking about it hahaha

lol more than that...the free copies have the bonus DVD too?

I got the album for free but am still buying it. I'm pretty much against downloads - I don't feel like I own something until I have physical proof!

We're probably the only ones

The documentry on the DVD was made available to watch for free on their website too, yeah. Not much extra there for those who just like downloads to want to buy the album.
