Was being the vocalist on three of the biggest selling songs of the year and the co-writer of another (Forget You) not enough to make 2010 his year!?! :heehee:

He'll carry on doing well but I doubt anything he releases will be as big as Nothin' On You/Billionaire/Just The Way You Are!

2010, for me personally has been about Tinie Tempah in all honesty. (Even though it pains me to say that ) Bruno Mars had a huge this year, but I think he has a massive year ahead of him next year and a future Britains Got Talent guest spot in 2011, performing 'Talking to The Moon' :kink:. Okay the last bit I may have made up slightly :heehee:

I agree nothing will be as big as JTWYA for him, but I think he's still going to have some massive hits.

This year has been massive for loads of artists tbh. Katy Perry, Eminem, Ke$ha, B.o.B., Glee Cast, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Ke$ha, etc.

In terms of the UK, Tinie Tempah has completey blown everybody else away. I mean, come on, 4 massive top 5 singles, and a #1 album!! Infact, the week when his album got released was absolutely insane for him on the chart. I believe he had Written in the Stars, Miami 2 Ibiza, Wonderman, Invincible and Pass Out in the top 75, and Frisky might've been in there too. I don't think anybody else got that many songs in the top 75 in one week, except probably Glee Cast.

You listed her twice yet she hasn't been that successful here - her most successful was Tik Tok [last year] - the rest havent done that well...

 Sorry. That must be because I'm listening to Blah Blah Blah right now. :D

Ke$ha's had a good year in the US tbh. And I think Tik Tok will be remembered as a 2010 song in the future tbh. Same with Telephone, Alejandro, All Night Long, Fireflies, Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart, Empire State of Mind, Part II, etc. They might've charted first in 2009, and been around since summer that year, but it's 2010 that those songs were at the peak of their popularities. Same with Don't Stop Believin' and Make You Feel My Love too. But knowing me, I'll be the annoying one in 20 years time that like "Well, contrary to common understanding, technically, the song was released in November 2009".

I'd say this year belongs to Eminem, B.o.B, Usher, Katy Perry, Tinie Tempah, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys and Rihanna mainly- but a lot of other artists have made a splash too

All of those songs you listed were released as singles this year. 'Tik Tok' was released last year.

Yes, but they were all released as downloads last year, and I think they all charted top 100.

It doesn't really matter though. Tik Tok was popular for like 2 months of 2009, and like 6 months of 2010, so I, and probably a lot of other people, would consider it a 2010 song. I first heard Tik Tok during Summer 2009 on Radio 1, but I don't think a few spins on the radio is enough to say the song first got popular halfway through 2009. Infact, looking at the charts from other countries too, Tik Tok peaked in most places in 2010.

What about this, rather more extreme scenario? A song is released as a digital single in the last week of 2009, and debuts at #53 in the chart, with no notable promotion. 4 months later, in April 2010, it reaches its peak of #3, and exits the top 75 in September 2010. It sells 560,000 in 2010, making it one of the best-selling songs of that year, and sells 5,000 in 2009. Would that be considered a song iconic of 2009, or a song iconic of 2010?

The date of the single release isn't always that important anyway. Like compare the dates when Airplanes, was released, and when it got to #1. Heck, Love the Way You Lie got to #2 on iTunes before they'd even decided what the next single was going to be (although people all around the world downloading the song kind of made their decision for them ).

I think a better examples could be Starstrukk and Don't Stop Believin' by Glee Cast. Both released late in 2009 (I think), but most of the general public would associate those songs with 2010.

Starstrukk and Don't Stop Believing would have been better examples, definitely. Tik-Tok sold over 300k last year to be in the top 50 of the year. It's not in this years top 50 meaning it's sold less than 300k. It's a 2009 song.

im liking the idea behind cheryl cole's video but her flood isnt half as good as promise this and i didnt like that either....she needs to release one of her collaborations as i dont think i can cope with hearing her voice for a full on 4 minutes anymore lol

bring back girls aloud :P

Gillian Mckeith #18

#16 now.

Yes, he is a celebrity. So, get him out of here please!

I see from the latest pop bars that Ellie G is almost on top of the XF Finalists now - so to speak... :)

This is weird indeed, especially when it's new songs like the Usher or The Wanted ones :o

What does happen next when they disappear ? Do they climb again rather quickly or do they disappear for a few days ?

Some reappear the following day (or sooner), others vanish for days.

Ellie will be back to #1 soon. I hope she can get #1 on singles chart next week.
