Posted November 26, 201014 yr OK so I know there is already a topic on this vaguely, but that also has people saying '2011 will the year of Britney' (yes thanku for your words of wisdom) whereas this is much more specific. So who do we think will make it? I am really struggling to think. I thought Penguin Prison would be on it last year and he wasn't, but I guess he will get pushed in the new year so I will say him again. Also Egyptian hip-hop are a shoe-in I think. James Blake will most likely be somewhere on there too. Maybe Hoodie Allen too. My mind is blank after those four though...
November 26, 201014 yr Jessie J will hopefully be one of the names, but she's about to get a top 40 hit coming on Sunday... or does she still count? Clare Maguire seems to be getting hype and a push too. Maybe Sparks, too? They're the only 3 I know about, that could probably make this list.

November 26, 201014 yr It may be Spark. Can't remember  but she/they (?) have been predicted big things in 2011.
November 26, 201014 yr Um, who deleted my post? I did nothing wrong -.- I did, and you did. This thread is about predicting the BBCs Sound of 2011, a prediction of new artists who'll be successful next year. You said Britney Spears, the reason this thread was set up was because there's already a thread relevant to that.

Uhm, well obviously I don't know any new upcoming artists, as they just usually pop up out of the blue <_< Like Ke$ha for example. So there was no reason to delete my post! >_<
November 26, 201014 yr I'd be delighted if Sparks had a good year in 2011 but they don't qualify for the BBC sound of 2011

So there was no reason to delete my post! >_< Well there was as they're completely irrelevent to the thread. Rooney started this thread to avoid the discussion of Britney, Kesha, LAdy GaGa etc that was in the other thread. This was to focus on NEW artists that may be in the Sound of 2011.
November 26, 201014 yr Spark will be there. Just to re-iterate, it is Spark and not Sparks! She's amazing. LOVE her!

So there was no reason to delete my post! >_< If you'd read it, it said NEW artists for 2011. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Britney Spears isn't exactly 'new'. Anyways, on topic. I'm hoping / I think Sunday Girl may make it onto the list. <3

So there was no reason to delete my post! >_< Er, no they don't. It's called hype, and Ke$ha was known about on these forums about nine months before she hit big with TiK ToK. Britney was deleted because she's not going to be on the Sound of 2011 poll as she's one of the biggest artists in the world!
November 26, 201014 yr ANYWAY, I'm predicting Florrie, Spark, Clare Maguire, possibly Japayork, and definitely Sky Ferreira...
November 26, 201014 yr Clare Maguire, definitly. Bright Light Bright Light? Ed Drewett? ChristianTV? Edited November 26, 201014 yr by Vülker
November 26, 201014 yr Bright Light Bright Light and Christian TV are definitely possibilities, but they'd probably be in the lower reaches...
November 26, 201014 yr ANYWAY, I'm predicting Florrie, Spark, Clare Maguire, possibly Japayork, and definitely Sky Ferreira... Sky Ferreira, really? I thought she was pretty much a flopped and over popstar already much like Alex Gardner. I'd love 'Obsession' to be given the chance to do well someday though, it's pop gold.
November 26, 201014 yr I'm not 100% sure of the criteria, but I would hope for the following to appear: Bright Light Bright Light Caro Emerald Clare Maguire Florrie Lauren Pritchard Scarlette Fever Spark Sunday Girl The Good Natured The Skints Wolf Gang Possible "out of nowhere" hits could come from Fallulah, Graziella Schazad, Tove Styrke & Zowie Edited November 26, 201014 yr by Ghosthunter

One was a buzz single that ended up getting way more R1 attention than was intended - Obsession's supposed to be the big launch single so far as I'm aware? She's got proper label backing and everything, I doubt they're going to throw away someone who's gotten so much hype.
