By that token, The Saturdays - Just Can't Get Enough should never have been released either.
To a certain extent i agree! But that was for charity.. And Saturday fans dont count that as a high selling single for them.

Covering these songs is simply a good PR move and it's not too dissimilar from Artists who cover songs on Radio 1 and then release them at a later date ( Pixie Lott, The Saturdays etc.. have done this).

Pixie lott never put Use Somebody on Itunes before Her first single though, she put it on itunes when releasing her album. Thats the difference and Pixie made the song HER OWN.

Yeah, exactly. It'd be a little it different if Keri Hilson's version was on iTunes, but it isn't! There's this song that the nation is loving (or was loving a couple of months ago, not so much now), and they can't buy it! How frustrating. I think it's ridiculous that a song that was so popular at the moment only charted at what, #17?

I just wish it was on iTunes at the height of the songs popularity. It would've gone top 5 with ease, probably higher.

I wonder if Cher will sing it on Saturday to book her place in the final? I'm still astonished she hasn't sung it yet, unless there's another (legal? technical?) reason?

If she does, I reckon both Alexa's and Greg Street's versions will rocket on iTunes.

Keri Hilson never planned for her version to get released, I don't think. She just recorded a "reply" to Soulja Boy's 'Turn My Swag On' (much in the same vein as Frankee did to Eamon) and it was only ever a demo. I'm actually surprised Cher was allowed to use it as there is no doubt she illegally downloaded the track, and we all know how Simon feels about people leaking tracks and stuff. So Keri's version was/is never meant to actually get a release. Kudos to this Alexa girl though capitalising on the fact it is a popular song.

Dunno if it'll be this Saturday, but usually in the final, the final 3 (or likely to be 4 this year) get to perform "the song that started it all" for them... which is why i'm REALLY hoping she gets to the final as I want her mp3 of it! I'm pretty sure it'll be the most downloaded X Factor performance if she does get to perform it.
See On The Xfactor this week, Did anyone notice how on previous quarter finals there were no sing offs, yet there was a sing off. I hope there's another double elimination this week as It would suck having 4 in the final. I like the version of turn my swag on, but like i said exact same as Keri Hilson

I gave a listen to that Alexa cover and it's a total rip off of Cher's version (which was already a rip off of Keri Hilson's version). She has a great voice but total lack of originality. She's singing it the exact same way that Cher did it, it's no better than those "tribute acts" who are invading Itunes.

If you wanna release a cover, at least make it your own I'd say.

Yeah, I agree Alexa's version is basically the same as Cher's and Keri Hilson's, but I don't think either are available to download anywhere, legally. Nobody really has any choice, but I'm sure Keri Hilson's version would sell more if it was available.

Its different this year because we had 16 acts, and it seems there will be 4 in the final.

Alexa  24, Jesus she could get top 10 if Cher performs turn my swag on

Cher will be in the final.. Mary Will go in the Semi's !

Up to 24? Bloody hell. Surely she's getting more hype than people realise... surely it can't be just from her youtube page...
If it's a double, Mary and Cher are deffo gone. But if it's a single and 4 are in the final, Cher may perform TMSO, and Alexa would deffo go top 10 a la Journey last year!

Thought I would tell everyone

Nicole Scherzinger is now 79p !

Who's That Chick  12

hope Who's that chick makes the top 10, would be so funny if radio 1 and the video chart countdowns on t.v had to play 3 rihanna songs back to back
Buy Who's That Chick, you wont regret it!  This isnt anywhere on TV or Radio Top 50?? :o

I don't think Keri Hilson's version will EVER be released (unless I'm missing something). The closest there is is Greg Street's version, which isn't what is wanted.

I actually applaud this girl for having the business brain to put a proper version of it on iTunes - certainly one way to propel her into the limelight - she's just giving the public what they want - a version of this song in the way that Cher Lloyd did it ... I don't see it as the same thing as the cheap rip off cover versions, because like you say, Keri clearly has no plans to officially release Turn My Swag On - and she's missed a bit of a trick by not doing so as it could have really raised her profile here!

Alexa covered versions on YouTube to gain exposure and has done brilliantly, She released songs because her fans wanted to download them and to me it seems the perfect way to get into the market as it were. I think she has been very clever releasing Turn my Swag On tbh as everyone is after it since Cher's performance.

She hasn't released this as a proper single. She has released 3 covers on Itunes for her fans to download.

She released 'Whip My Hair' a few of weeks ago, and that started climbing the chart, albeit outside the Top 100.

She's no different to the Hit Masters and those other cover artists who try to make a buck before an official release. Just cos she's packaged as a young blonde, you're all going crazy for her

I don't hear you guys applauding the other cover bands who have covered other pre-release tracks over the years. Let's see how many other pre-release tracks she covers in the next couple of months.

So near but so far for Nicole on pop bars! Thankfully they've slashed her down to 79p, so she might make it after all :o

"Who's That Chick" debuted at #70 on the radio airplay chart this week.

Yes, exactly, people are buying it only because it's the only version available at the moment. So yes, it's basically exactly the same than those Tribute Acts who are selling prior actual release.
