He has such a smug face all the time! Or is that just me?!

He is thinking about 'all the p*ssy' he will get. -_-

how long do we think he'll last? longer than Shayne? Joe? Leon?

ACTUAL LAD.

SyCo will screw him over. I reckon within two years all of the final four will have record contracts and that the level of success of each by then will actually be the exact inverse of the final result
I think he'll do well initially if SyCo actually give him decent material, he won't do as well as Leona or Alex, but he should start off as well as ... well Shayne actually I think.

Well a debut album selling Platinum would be nothing to be scoffed at given that males doing pop rarely do as well as females and that Joe is only on Gold or whatever he's sold.

Joe is on bronze. Olly's the one who is selling well. I still think Matt has a good chance of sustaining a decent career just as long as SyCo allow him to do what he wants without forcing him to sing preditable tracks that will bore the public.

I don't think leaving Matt's post winner's single until October a la the last four winners will be the best way to build momentum. I'd put out a single in May/June, which will go to #1 in the usually quiet period whilst he's still fairly fresh in people's minds, then launch the album alongside the second single in Sep/Oct, with X Factor promo naturally. Leaving it all until October again is a little bit risky I think.
I think we should give Matt a chance really- Joe last year only really won because at the time he was the best of quite a bad bunch, Olly had been in the bottom 2 so had no chance against him- and Olly has outperformed him now the contest is over
Am I right in thinking then that Rebecca got more points than Matt today but he got more over the two days?

Harry  Everyone always was saying he's the joker of the group :P

Matt for #1! :D

Thank christ somebody else sees it. It wasn't my favourite of his but it WAS quite something.

Too many people are comparing it to the Katy Perry version.

:D

f***ING KNEW HE SAID THAT LOL 'always on the lookout-LAD'

Too many people are comparing it to the Katy Perry version.

What else have we got to compare it with? IMHO he took something vile and made it EPIC. Yellow trousers 'n all.

And you REALLY think Cher will be the biggest artist in the UK in a couple of years Tyron? Don't make me laugh. By then this whole "grime" fad will be over and people will start buying real music again. Yes I'm aware I'm sounding like most of your parents. I do think Rebecca will be bigger than Matt in the long run.

What on earth are you on about? Cher isn't grime at all! And neither is the vast majority of music currently popular at the moment, possibly Devlin aside. I don't think Cher will be the biggest artist in the UK in a couple of years either - merely that she'll be the most successful out of this year's alumni.

For the record, I don't know how someone with a music taste like ours can give any credence to the term 'real music' - surely rockism at its very worst? :/

How can somebody who spends so long discussing pop music on a forum like this be so... clueless?

GRIME? Are you for real? There hasn't been a grime fad in the UK for years. You seem to be confusing urban/hip-hop (not that Cher is exactly that either) with grime which is pretty much a world away.

And nobody who understands the concept of subjectivity in musical tastes has EVER used the term 'real music'. Pass me a bucket.

I was taking the piss. But she's so horribly faux-urban. What I'm saying is whatever she's doing will be obsolete in a couple of years time. Matt and Rebecca are actual singers, she is not. She had her moments, but so did Wagner.

Well I GREATLY enjoyed tonight. The result went pretty much exactly as I'd hoped for. I know people say Matt and Rebecca wouldn't have offered anything new, but I don't see that One Direction would have either. We'd have simply ended up with another version of The Wanted on our hands, and I don't think there's any big need for that.

The performances themselves were MUCH better than last night's HOT MESS. I ADORED "Sweet Dreams" - Rebecca's never going to ooze stage presence, and she's never going to dance, but at least we know she can at least SING an upbeat number when required.

I really am surprised by all the slating of "Firework". It wasn't vocally pitch-perfect, but it was far from atrocious, it was as rousing as you'd want an opening song to be, and there was plenty of energy there. I know people have compared Matt to Steve Brookstein and Leon Jackson - ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS. Matt has far more passion and energy in his little finger than either of those two had, and I don't think they'd even be in the same market. Matt is clearly going to be trying to head down the guitar-pop singer/songwriter path, where Leon was trying to be mini Buble, and Steve was only ever going to be a one-man Westlife.

Just catching up now. But I already knew who won as I wasn't too bothered about knowing the results

Matt Cardle 'Firework': His voice just does nothing for me. This was a decent performance, but I can't get over how much his (and Rebecca's) voices grate on me most the time. I guess it doesn't help I'm not overly fond of the song anyway. 7.0

One Direction 'Torn': Easily their best performance since the judge's houses. (Yeah I preferred that performance more, as it was acoustic and gave that song a nice feel ) Will be downloading this in a min! 10.0

Rebecca Ferguson 'Sweet Dreams': Oh. Her voice annoys me so much, however this song choice was brilliant. She did it very well, I thought. Although I still wish she'd move! 8.5

01. One Direction 'Torn'

02. Rebecca Ferguson 'Sweet Dreams'

03. Matt Cardle 'Firework'

WOW. That rejects performance, is quite possibly the worst rejects performance ever!

Matt Cardle 'When We Collide': Nice enough performance of it. Obviously, I prefer Biffy's original version etc... but he did alright with it. Also, the thing I actually hate about his voice, is he tends to shout as opposed to sing. His montage was unbearable! 8.0

Rebecca Ferguson 'Distant Dreamer': Meh. Duffy's version was really powerful and memorable. Rebecca did nothing new to the song, to make it sound like her own... Something was lacking in that performance, imo. Going on the last two performances, it's not hard to see how Matt beat her in the end... 7.0

I just can't imagine what Matt is going to release. He's going to have to get someone to write an amazing electro pop dance song and then replace all the synths with MIDI guitars.
