Barrowman should try to get a new Torchwood series rather than a guest spot on the Special.

As long as it's nothing like Miracle Day.

I agree with Johnkm. :P

John ruined the whole 'villainous' feel to Desperate Housewives Season 6, TBH. :(

Barrowman should stay away from ALL TV WORK FOREVER

He's fine as Captain Jack Harkness. OTOH, he's rather irritating when appearing as John Barrowman.

The Series 7, Part 2 DVD lists an extra called 'Clarence and the Whispermen' - run time 2 mins 16 secs. Could this be a prequel to the finale, or a mini-episode before The Name of the Doctor airs?

REALLY excited for The Name of the Doctor now! :D

Synopsis

Clara is summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him toward the one place in all of time and space that he should never go. It’s a deadly trap that threatens to unravel his past, present and future…

Hints from Steven Moffat

“We wanted a brand new monster to create chills in the finale. And the thought of stylish whispering almost faceless creatures was an idea that firstly scared me and that I thought would work well in an episode that looks forward and back.”

“It’s full of surprises and questions that have never been answered in the history of Who, including the Doctors greatest secret. We’re not pretending, we’re not kidding, it’s actually going to happen. The episode is called The Name of the Doctor and involves our hero in a conflict that is very, very personal to him. Usually he’s saving other people, but this time he might be the one who needs to be saved."

“We’ll also find out what makes his new companion so impossible and there’s a surprise that no one has got right so far, and one that will change the course of Who forever!”

Hint from Matt Smith

“With the 50th, this is going to be by far the biggest year in the history of the show. And the finale is just the start. It focuses on a pivotal moment in the Doctor’s life and the life of his companion. It’s a complete game changer and it all starts now.”

Hints from Jenna-Louise Coleman

“The finale story is such a fantastic idea; it’s epic and huge and filled with drama.”

“It was really exciting to sit down and read the script,”

“There are little bits and pieces, which Steven planted a couple of years ago. It’s just really clever and a crucial moment in the Doctor’s life that you get to explore with the best baddies! I really think they are going to become another Moffat classic.”

And the biggest hint of all...

“All I can say is that Clara hasn’t just met the Doctor three times before…”

Another very strong episode tonight, although I was very confused throughout. I liked that Clara was the one haunting the TARDIS (although it was sad as well). I think I'll definitely have to watch it again, but I'd rank it better than The Rings of Akhaten and Cold War at LEAST right now!

That was a fantastic episode, really liked all of the nods to the show's past, particularly the library scenes. Jenna looked beautiful, especially in HD! Overall, the episode was superb! Best of the series so far, I'd say! :o

1. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS

2. The Snowmen

3. Hide

4. The Power of Three

5. The Angels Take Manhattan

6. The Bells of Saint John

7. The Rings of Akhaten

8. Cold War

9. A Town Called Mercy

10. Asylum of the Daleks

11. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

Ratings have been falling every week since The Snowmen! :(

Asylum of the Daleks - 6.4m (o/night), 8.3m (final)

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship - 5.5m (o/night), 7.57m (final)

A Town Called Mercy - 6.6m (o/night), 8.42m (final)

The Power of Three - 5.5m (o/night), 7.67m (final)

The Angels Take Manhattan - 5.9m (o/night), 7.82m (final)

The Snowmen - 7.6m (o/night), 9.87m (final)

The Bells of Saint John - 6.18m (o/night), 8.44m (final)

The Rings of Akhaten - 5.5m (o/night), 7.45m (final)

Cold War - 5.7m (o/night), 7.37m (final)

Hide - 5.0m (o/night), TBC (final)

Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS - 4.9m (o/night), TBC (final)

It was very entertaining and the acting is brilliant but I'm finding this series lacking in EXPLANATION constantly. I know there's always a mystery in every series but I'm finding that the Doctor will explain something with a quick one liner and then I'm still thinking 'what? How does that make sense?' half the time. I think Moffat is trying to complicate things an awful lot. I loved Series 5, the story was less straight forward than previously but it was well wrapped up. Series 6 was also good. This one not so great for me. It's like he's trying to outdo every series but failing.

What I'd love starting next year:

Multi-episode stories back-every episode if feeling rushed

1 Series per year-splitting a series up between 2 years is terrible and for someone like my poor old mum, it's easy to forget what happened 6 months ago

Bring back 'evil' villains-the poor misunderstood villain is a great angle but not when used every single week

The companion (Clara in this case) not to be the be all and end all. Just make her a normal traveller who helps the Doctor. The Universe seems to have a thing about being obsessed with British women between 18 and 40 and it's getting a bit tedious after 7 series worth.

What don't you understand?

Obviously the mystery is going to be confusing and misleading until it becomes full circle, but it's slightly annoying how everyone blames Moffat all the time. He doesn't write every script. :(

LOVELY episode once again, little bit of a cheat with a reset button (literally) but very solid performances and it was entertaining at least. It also felt a lot more like the older nuWho that I really like as opposed to some complete mess like a lot of episodes have been of late.

Always like a slightly interesting guest cast too, and while the scavenger brothers weren't the best we've ever gotten it's been a while since we had anyone like them who can die very easily (and come back later) so that was welcome.

This was the first episode they filmed, right? I remember Clara's hairstyle.

Surprisingly, it was one of the last to be filmed.

Filming order:

Hide

The Snowmen

The Bells of Saint John

Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS

The Rings of Akhaten

Cold War

The Crimson Horror

Nightmare in Silver

The Name of the Doctor

Oh I thought Clara looked different in Hide! Her hair's a lot shorter. I'm not liking the Victorian curls for this week's episode though :(

At least we won't be seeing them for long, then. :P
