Her Echo flopped. Will Simon drop Leona or not?

No way! Echo didn't exactly flop, it went double platinum... Just because it only had 2 singles and one missed the top 10 doesn't mean she'll be dropped. Echo had great sales (in the UK at least). Simon has more sense than to drop someone whose first album went 9x platinum and second went 2x platinum.

Quite. No matter how much Echo underperformed, there's no way in hell Simon's going to drop Leona, purely as she symbolises everything Simon wants to say the X Factor is capable of - discovering a true talent and taking them to worldwide stardom. An album that didn't do as well as the first isn't going to lead to Simon dropping the jewel in his crown.

I have the feeling that if they play their cards right they could potentially have Leona shifting albums all over the world like Susan Boyle, rather than having constant single smashes.

 

I mean Leona trumps Susan in voice and superstar presence.

How can an artist who has two multi-platinum albums under their belt be in danger of being dropped, regardless of how the singles performed, ok yes Echo didnt sell as much as spirit, but then again i dont know too many artists out there that have had two 9x platinum albums in a row, id say 2x platinum is a pretty good follow up, i mean if double platinum is her 'sophmore slump' she's in pretty good shape ;) . The only way I could see her being dropped is if say her next two albums both fail to even sell 100k and yield no hit singles.

No. 'Echo' didn't flop for Leona. It peaked at #1, has sold over 600,000 and has managed to become double Platinum. She is overall the biggest contestant to come from The X Factor and I doubt Simon would drop her, especially when there's people like Shayne and Joe on his label!

Its absurd to say the album flopped when it sold 600k and reached no1. I think its fair to say that it didnt do as well as many people expected but lets face it, 2nd albums are often tough to follow up and few artists manage to maintain the momentum set by their debut album.

Plus the flopping of "Echo" was due to lack of promotion and predictable single choices. If they wanted to sell that album "Outta My Head" should've been single #1, but if they were so reliant of a ballad leading the album - why not "Stop Crying Your Heart Out"?

I can't believe people still believe Echo flopped. It sold very very well especially considering the singles didn't do great. Alexandra's album hasn't sold much more despite 6 singles (5 of which were huge.)

5 Singles and 4 which were huge* considering 'Start Without You' wasn't on the original album :P

If you're a fan you will well know that Echo was not a flop. It made #1, it sold over 600,000 copies which most artists would LOVE to achieve.

Leona is here to stay for a very, very long time, she's got it in her to be an absolute legend in music and one of Britains biggest ever artists.

Leona will have a brilliant year in Usa/Uk this year imo she will release her album in time for the xfactor(usa) to get her good sales.

I agree with this. Promotion wasn't great. Leona has so much potential left - like Diana vickers, who will be dropped after her second album is a flop due to bad promotion:cry:.

If Simon drops Leona I will sign her :lol: .

 

He would never drop the best XF singer while he is still trying to promote the show, would he? Especially when all new acts from the show coudn't second her success. (Joe :lol: Olly & JLS_2nd about the same as Leona's flop :lol: , Alex slightly more than Leona's flop :lol: )

Not to mention her unique worldwide status.

No way! she is the biggest star WW out of the lot :P

She'll be fine for a while. You don't drop someone who has achieved a 10x platinum album and a 2x platinum album in the UK.

Oh hes not....this thread should just be closed its that ridiculous :D Simon is still outspoken about how Leona is his favourite talent show discovery ever! He still believes in her 100%. And they are really taking their time over the third album as I can guarantee they are looking for a massive worldwide success again. She will get a performance on American X Factor too, mark my words ;)
