Wonderman performed at Brits Launch last night

Can't wait!!!! I love Wonderman so much!

I think it's a lot like Alejandro, in the sense that they both have a melody played by a string instrument in the introduction, which then acts as a sample which the rest of the song is based around.

Can't wait for the video :D From the little preview thing it looks like it'll more than make up for the Invincible video

I'm still not sure whether releasing Invincible was a good move for Tinie. Wonderman is clearly the bigger and more popular song, but then again it'll still easily go top 10 as a fifth single whereas Invincible probably wouldn't... (Invincible looks like it'll probably miss the top 10 as a fourth single)

What an odd comparison! But I can see what you mean, plus they are both spoken instead of sung ;)

Yeah, that's true aswell.

To be fair lots of songs use that strategy for their intros, it just struck me that both were violins (or some sort of string instrument) in those songs. Telephone, for example, does it too, except with a harp.

Also, anybody noticed that Ellie Goulding actually provides more vocals to Wonderman than Tinie does? Tinie does 2 40 second long rap verses, which totals to 1:20 of a 3:20 song. Infact, the last 1:20 of the song is entirely Ellie singing, plus she sings in the background during Tinie's rapping.

But Ellie's lines aren't all different.

Well, that's true, seeing as she sings the chorus.

Well, she sings the bridge too, I guess. Ellie takes up more of the track, but Tinie has like 5 times more lyrics than her. :D

I think Tinie repeats a couple of lines too though. One that's something like "Amen, hallelujah, Tinie, look what's happened to ya" and "I traded friends for fans, cement for sand, raise your hands, for wonderman". I can't understand most of Ellie's lyrics. I guess it makes a change, it's usually the rapper I can't understand. Not that it matters tbh. It's the instrumental that makes me love this song, so I'd listen to it whatever the lyrics were. :D

I think it was the best move he could have made. Like you say, "Wonderman" was clearly the most popular album track and will probably go top 10 on release. But ballads are more wintery and tend to shift albums better, so I think it was sensible to release "Invincible" over the high sales period of Christmas. It may end up with a top 15 peak, but it's done it's job. Better to release it then, and go top 15, than after a (hopefully) big hit with "Wonderman" and end up only going top 30 or something.

"Wonderman" being release fifth also turns out better for Ellie too! She was already around the top end of the charts when his fourth single came out, but she'll be on her way out of the top 40 when this comes out. Hopefully it'll keep her name floating around and she won't be forgotten like most recent Sound Of winners. ^_^ (though Adele is lucky enough to be having resurged interest at the moment after Duffy blew her out the water in 2008.)

that HAM song is falling now, the initial 'selling on name alone' boost it got is wearing off

don't like it at all on first listen :( how on earth are Radio 1 going to censor that?

this wonderman situation is similar to what he did earlier-as a follow up to Pass Out, he released the far less popular Frisky which didn't do as well although was still successful- and then went with the far more popular Written In The Stars which got him back to number 1

this seems to be the case again with Wonderman :o although if the far less popular Invincible can only scrape the top 10 (maybe not even that) then Wonderman could get him back in the top 5, so its quite an effective marketing strategy really and keeps his name out there

Severely? :P

Yeah, it's similar. Tinie said they released Frisky instead of Written in the Stars, as originally intended, because Pass Out was much more popular than they expected, and people wanted "more Pass Out" from him. But this lead people (such as me) to think all his songs were going to sound the same initially.

Also, Frisky really should've been #1 imo. :( It sold over 90,000 in its release week, but got beaten by Shout. :( It sold almost double what was needed to get #1 on some other weeks. Yeah, I'm still really bitter about this.

And yeah, H.A.M. will need a LOT of censoring! :o Has anybody heard it on the radio yet?

They wanted him to PO?

Well, Invincible should be top 10 in short order, but unfortunately it'll knock out H•A•M instead of Make You Feel My Love :( H•A•M is gonna plummet now

I am even more bitter that Ellie missed 1. And the Staurdays losing out to Flo Rida twice :puke2: Still Ellie has had good sales. I am very happy that she now has the chance to get the sucess she deserves, she's amazing  I think Lights will be ignored by the public sadly. She should release Human instead.

How do you do those circles?

To me it will forever be H.A.M

Alt + 0149

Alt + 0149

How do people find out how to do these things on keyboards! :drama: It's like those secret codes on video games!

And how do you physically type it it? Do you press each key one by one or hold them all at the same time?

If you go on Microsoft Word and go to Insert -> Symbol and find the one you want it tells you the Alt code.

Hold down the Alt key, type 0149 (on the number pad, it doesn't work on the top row of numbers) then release the Alt key and it'll show up.

Anyway, does anyone know why A-Punk by Vampire Weekend has been back in the iTunes top 100 for a few days? Not complaining, it's a great song.

It turned my screen sideways! :o I'm such a techno-phobe! :drama:

EDIT: Fixed! I'm not going to attempt it again though!

Yeah, I can't imagine a song like H.A.M getting much radio airplay or anything, unless they release a remix with Rihanna singing a hook... So it probably will plummet after now.

But Invincible so deserves to go top 10. It's now or never, to be honest. And if it does get in, it'll need to climb FAST, so it won't get knocked out straight-away on Sunday. Seriously, a song hanging around at #11 for sooooooooo long is just really frustrating. It's almost as bad as Turn My Swag On. :(

There could be so many new entries next week! :o There's Nelly/Akon/T-Pain, Pitbull/T-Pain, Adele, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, Jodie Connor/Wiley, Glee Cast (Toxic and The Only Exception), Diddy-Dirty Money/Skylar Grey, Britney Spears, Wretch 32, Aggro Santos/Kimberly Walsh, and maybe even Avril Lavigne! :o
