January 12, 201115 yr It still confuses me why they are playing Gangsta? and not Let It Rain Have they got the song titles wrong or something ?
January 12, 201115 yr Author Yay for Kanye! :D I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't go top 10 here, despite his lower profile nowadays. Hopefully it will "save" the album too. What about The Prodigy? Although I suppose it's different for dance acts compared to pop acts... Indeed, most dance acts are faceless and ageless. However they do snub dance acts which, while are almost legendary in the genre, aren't getting hits anymore. Faithless and Basement Jaxx were snubbed not long ago
January 12, 201115 yr I havent heard the Travie version of Higher - I can't imagine him hitting that high a pitch :o
January 12, 201115 yr I think you might like that Modestep song, up to the C-list this week (if you have yet to hear it). It's right up your street I take from the name of the band/artist/whatever it's dubstep-ish? Yes, I'll almost certainly like it. I just heard the Camo & Krooked song  Generic drum n bass = good.
January 12, 201115 yr Britney will obviously be #1, if not for huge sales, for the dire chart competition. Brandon Flowers? Nadine Coyle? Do they really stand a chance? If only we knew if 'Born This Way' was officially getting a UK release on the same date as the American release (not too sure about that one), then we coulod hope GaGa could hold onto the top spot for at least three weeks, so people release Britney has had no substance since 'Everytime'. This way, 'Hold It Against Me' should fall by then but hey - if the putrid 'The Time (Dirty Bit)' made #1...
January 12, 201115 yr It still confuses me why they are playing Gangsta? and not Let It Rain Have they got the song titles wrong or something ? I imagine it it typical R1 that if Let it Rain goes Top 10 on itunes they will push it onto the playlist. Why include that version of Higher it makes no sense.
January 12, 201115 yr The Script's third single is dissapointing. :( It's a bloody amazing track but will do nothing as a single.
January 12, 201115 yr I'm not at all surprised. I had a genuine :manson: moment when I heard 'We'll Be Alright' for the first time. From 'Billionaire' to that?!!! -_- As bad as Gabrielle Cilmi going from 'On A Mission' to 'Hearts Don't Lie'. Record companies clearly haven't got a bloody clue. I don't think there was anything wrong with that Gabriella Cilmi choice, I loved it and it was as good as any choice - she was just doomed and nothing was gonna do well for her, no matter what they chose.
January 12, 201115 yr Author I don't think Radio 1 are intentionally ageist though, they just follow who is popular in the charts. If more older acts were having hits they would probably get R1 support I think. 10 years ago or so they were playlisting Mariah, Celine, Cher, Whitney, The Corrs, Roxette, Blondie, Shania, as well as obvious ones like Madge and Kylie. The charts are getting ageist, that's what I think

January 12, 201115 yr Great additions, with Britney, Alexis, Kanye, Taio, JLS & Chromeo. The play-list hasn't looked this good in a while. Not too bothered which version of 'Higher' they play really, I've never loved Kylie and the song isn't anything that special, one of the weakest tracks on his surprisingly good album.
January 12, 201115 yr wow at them adding Britters already :cheer: wtf at them adding the Travie version of Higher instead of the Kylie one :@ is this US Radio or what? :S stupid decision by R1.

It's a vicious circle.
January 12, 201115 yr I'm dying at Britney & ChristianTV. Britney gave them a boost MONTHS AGO. And only now R1 are jumping on it.
January 12, 201115 yr I'm dying at Britney & ChristianTV. Britney gave them a boost MONTHS AGO. And only now R1 are jumping on it. I think it's more a case of only now has it been given a concrete release date...
January 12, 201115 yr is this US Radio or what? :S stupid decision by R1. Welcome to the USK - United States of Kingdom. :(

It's a vicious circle. I do think it's more likely that radio start to ignore after they flop. Look at the last U2 album, or at least the singles from it. I'm sure they'd have been playlisted on Radio 1 but both flopped, if that happens again do they have the incentive to keep playlisting them? Probably not.
