January 12, 201115 yr Hod odd to get rid of James Blake in the one week where people actually may begin to show more of an interest in him.
January 12, 201115 yr I do think it's more likely that radio start to ignore after they flop. Look at the last U2 album, or at least the singles from it. I'm sure they'd have been playlisted on Radio 1 but both flopped, if that happens again do they have the incentive to keep playlisting them? Probably not. ...but when their big comeback single is the anti climatic 'Get On Your Boots', I'm not surprised Radio 1 snubbed them. No wonder rock music is in dire straits. :(
January 12, 201115 yr According to the Kiss playlist, they're playing the Kylie version Cool, that's one then. If Heart FM play the song, they'll have to play the Kylie version, or the Taio solo version, because they refuse to play rapping. But Heart FM have been known to start playing songs 4 months after they're released before...
January 12, 201115 yr Hod odd to get rid of James Blake in the one week where people actually may begin to show more of an interest in him. They'll probably stick his next single on next week. I'm Suprised they haven't added Beardy Eye yet as R1 loved Oasis in their day or Avril Lavigne. With all the Urban additions it's like they see some sort of threat from what is claimed to be a national Capital FM, which it's far from
January 12, 201115 yr Author Yeah it seems each radio plays whatever they want. R1 have playlisted Gangsta by Tinchy, yet Capital aka Galaxy are playing Let It Rain with Melanie Fiona

I'm sure they'd have been playlisted on Radio 1 but both flopped, if that happens again do they have the incentive to keep playlisting them? Probably not. I doubt U2's singles chart success days are completely over just because of one misguided era, surely they only need another Vertigo type single to have a hit again. Although I'm not sure - rock really is doing absolutely nothing in the charts these days. But that's a big problem with UK radio - they rarely seem to forgive somebody who's suffered one flop era. This doesn't seem to happen in Europe, there's nowhere near as much stigma or refusal to re-playlist artists, particularly those of a certain age, if the last single or album has been unsuccessful, and as a result these artists still often have big hits around the continent (particularly in Italy for some reason...) I mean, if Cher came back with another Believe this year, or maybe some incredible dubstep anthem (unlikely but you never know!) would Radio 1 really playlist it? She's never 'flopped' as such, she's just not particularly relevant. But she was hardly that relevant in 1998 either yet managed the biggest seller of the year, and had full Radio 1 backing - at the age of 52. It seems that certain artists definitely have more of an uphill struggle now to do well in the singles charts, or to get playlisted on stations that can actually make songs hits, of which Radio 2 (with a few exceptions) is not. Cool, that's one then. If Heart FM play the song, they'll have to play the Kylie version, or the Taio solo version, because they refuse to play rapping. But Heart FM have been known to start playing songs 4 months after they're released before... Heart where I live have literally only just discovered Dynamite
January 12, 201115 yr Yeah, I was wondering about Capital. That station must get millions of listeners now, surely?
January 12, 201115 yr Oh god, Heart Bristol are awful :( I only have to listen to it to and from school (about 20-25mins each way), but literally the newest songs they play are Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are and Cee-Lo - Forget You  And maybe a bit of Matt Cardle! I doubt they'll play Higher for few months yet  I heard the crappy Travie version on Capital yesterday :( Anyway, amazing for Wretch32 and Alexis  100x:w00t: @ Brit being play-listed ALREADY  Her best song yet imo! Also amazing that Christian TV are playlisted, WST18 is great, hope it's a decent sized UK hit  Edited January 12, 201115 yr by Liam Fenty...!

Heart FM is definitely the worst radio station in the country. There's probably worse, but they don't get so many listeners, and don't have such influence, and I'm not forced to listen to them by my parents... Seriously, the only good songs Heart playlisted last year were Meet Me Halfway (the closest they've ever got to playing rap on that station, may I add. They usually don't play anything even close to rapping, but I guess Meet Me Halfway is that good. :)), Stereo Love (which they started playing all of a sudden around July time) and We No Speak Americano (which they playlisted late, but it wasn't that late by their standards). The most annoying thing is how they play Empire State of Mind all the time. I have nothing against the song, but I think it's a bit sad how they're so anti-rap, yet Empire State of Mind, Part II is probably their most played song of 2010. Do you know what I mean? I bet they'd do the same if Hayley Williams released a solo version of Airplanes. Also, how they still play Sex on Fire and What About Now like once an hour, even though they were released years ago. :drama:
January 12, 201115 yr Higher isn't that great a track to be fair, but it seems a rather ridiculous choice when the video version FEATURING KYLIE MINOGUE is being plastered all over music channels. I guess Avril isn't getting released next week then? Then again it wouldn't surprise me if they ignored it.
January 13, 201115 yr A bit early for Britney no? :o Not that I am complaining. ^_^ Oh and FLOP for Avril. :(
January 13, 201115 yr Author I take from the name of the band/artist/whatever it's dubstep-ish? Yes, I'll almost certainly like it. I just heard the Camo & Krooked song  Generic drum n bass = good. Another suggestion for you, listen to that Breakage track. You may like ;)
January 13, 201115 yr I don't think Radio 1 are intentionally ageist though, they just follow who is popular in the charts. If more older acts were having hits they would probably get R1 support I think. 10 years ago or so they were playlisting Mariah, Celine, Cher, Whitney, The Corrs, Roxette, Blondie, Shania, as well as obvious ones like Madge and Kylie. The charts are getting ageist, that's what I think  its just the generations are moving on.kylies been around since 1988 and most of her somngs havent really changed direction so they suit radio 2 s playlist!! and rem havent been played on radio1s playlist in neraly 10 years!!
January 13, 201115 yr Hod odd to get rid of James Blake in the one week where people actually may begin to show more of an interest in him. its doesnt mean it will stop being played.blake is an artist that radio1 introduced, now they can stop playing him as people are taking an interest and commercial radio can take over 'limit to your love' now.his albums out in the first week of feb and the 2nd single 2 weeks later so they are making way for the new single which will probably be playlisted next week or the following!!
January 14, 201115 yr pity they arent supporting the streets - first time ever - least fearne cotton has played the new single!!
