Thanks Jack, Britney's definitely back with a bang, brilliant song! Agreed about Carina, and I'm quite underwhelmed with both Iceland and Norway so far, one song getting to No.16 is hardly amazing, I guess I'm not in ESC loon mode quite yet  Although I can't WAIT for the Germany NF this year for obvious reasons :w00t: Believe it or not, I only just heard Jar Of Hearts the other day for the first time, even though I've been meaning to listen to it for months! Very good song, might make my top 20 in the future. I do like Emma's Imagination's album quite a bit and it certainly grew on me massively on the 2nd and 3rd listens but I too would have preferred a Pepper & Piano album - but then again, their second 'single/performance' on the show was quite crap compared to You Took My Heart :(
January 13, 201114 yr Not in ESC loon mode yet? Even though Norway had already had a live show by this time last year? :o I'm really looking forward to the German NF, but if there is a song anywhere near the standard of 'Satellite', I think there'd only be one. I'll be happy if five of them are 'really good', but I'm kinda prepared for disappointment - certainly won't have a top 10 full of Lena. Hopefully they do pick the best again though, and it might beat the five weeks at #1 that 'Satellite' got.

Well I'm pretty sure I won't be able to watch any of the live streams anyway judging by the current slow/broken state of my internet :nocheer: Indeed, I don't think Lena's about to win ESC for a second year in a row, but hopefully there's a great song in there somewhere. These songs will probably all make up her next album (or maybe not, maybe only the top three will - would she want a whole album full of 3 minute ESC tailored songs?) and most albums have more than their fair share of filler.

January 14, 201114 yr I was hunting for Hysteria on youtube just the other day and couldn't find it :drama: It's epic!!!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of its parent album. I am of course glad to see Caro and Tone on the playlist and Cocool still in the top20
January 14, 201114 yr Hi Rich 1. Nero - Me & You (2) (CR-6-2-1) 2. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name (1) (CR-8-3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-1-2) Longest Runner 4. Yasmin - On My Own (6) (CR-15-OUT-20-14-6-4) 5. Taio Cruz feat Kylie Minogue - Higher (9) (CR-19-9-9-5) 7. Mohombi feat Nicole Scherzinger - Coconut Tree (12) (CR-12-7) 8. Adele - Rolling In The Deep (7) (CR-20-13-10-7-8) 13. Clare Maguire - The Last Dance (NEW) (CR-13) Love her vocals on this, hope its a big hit for her 14. Martin Solveig feat Dragonette - Hello (NEW) (CR-14) 17. Ellie Goulding - Human (20) (CR-20-17) 18. P!nk - f***in' Perfect (18) (CR-18-18)
January 14, 201114 yr Hi Richie :D 1. Nero - Me & You (2) (CR-6-2-1) Brilliant for Nero. :o I didn't think 'Me & You' would manage to get to no. 1 in your chart but I still think this is ace. Still holding up well(ish) on iTunes so a second week in the UK top 15 looks likely. 2. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name (1) (CR-8-3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-1-2) Longest Runner I'm really over this now. :( If I flick through the music channels and this is being played, I switch over. Yet I still think 'Only Girl' is great. 3. Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me (NEW) (CR-3) Britney's biggest hit for you in 12 years?!!! :drama: There's so much excitement at the moment surrounding this track. Like others have said, the lyrics aren't incredible but there is something really strong about this particular track. It's not even got anything to do with the dubstep-esque breakdown. It's just a solid gold pop track and has taken off extremely well. With a powerful music video, this could be Britney's biggest UK hit since 'Everytime'. 4. Yasmin - On My Own (6) (CR-15-OUT-20-14-6-4) Still growing on me which is a good thing as it's not released for a couple more weeks. Still don't see this going to no. 1 in my chart but a top 10 entry is looking possible. 5. Taio Cruz feat Kylie Minogue - Higher (9) (CR-19-9-9-5) Even this is growing on me. Still don't think it's anywhere near as strong as 'Dynamite'. Agree with the overall opinion of " :manson: " in relation to Radio 1 playlisting to Travie McCoy version just to appear "cool". Why not add the Travie version to all the music channels while we're at it? :D I will admit I've not heard the Travie version (maybe it's decent?) but the fact the Kylie version is getting played on the music channels, I'd have thought Radio 1 would've followed suit instead of showing their continued ageism towards women over 40. 8. Adele - Rolling In The Deep (7) (CR-20-13-10-7-8) Oh, a slight slip. :( Having seen Bruno Mars' pop bars all week on iTunes, I'm stating to doubt whether Adele really does have what it takes to get to no. 1 on iTunes next week. It's become my fave Adele track overtaking 'Chasing Pavements' already - and that was no. 1 in my chart for 3 weeks back in 2008. 9. Diddy-Dirty Money feat Skylar Grey - Coming Home (4) (CR-6-3-3-4-9) Another big hit on the horizon. I think it's released next week but I haven't a clue how this will fare in the UK charts. I've hardly seen the video on the music channels and don't really follow radio airplay charts. Hopefully it becomes a hit as it's a great song. 11. JLS feat Tinie Tempah - Eyes Wide Shut (Re-entry) (CR-9-6-8-15-OUT-11) For me, this is easily their best song since 'Everybody In Love'. They owe a lot to Tinie Tempah - it is the perfect combination for a successful UK hit. Get Britain's biggest boyband and Britain's biggest rapper and et voila, the decent track radio friendly enough to appeal to the likes of me. 14. Martin Solveig feat Dragonette - Hello (NEW) (CR-14) It enters!!! :D I still get the impression 'Hello' will have slipped back into the 21-30 region of the UK chart by Sunday. At least it's become a UK tp 40 hit. Still a much bigger hit across Europe. Actually, it's becoming a popular hit in New Zealand which I find quite surprising. 19. Avril Lavigne - What The Hell (13) (CR-13-19) Poor Avril. :( Had it not been for the earth shattering comeback from Ms Spears, Avril would now be no. 1 on US iTunes giving the impression that her comeback is going to be massive. As it is, Britney got there first and the pop bars have suggested otherwise, as has the US airplay.
January 14, 201114 yr Author Hey Rich :D heres what I like, that Coconut Tree song is a grower :( 1. Nero - Me & You (2) (CR-6-2-1) 2. She's overttaken Jessie J as my fave new artist of 2011 now :o Love both to stalker like levels though! 14. Martin Solveig feat Dragonette - Hello (NEW) (CR-14) 15. Glad to hear you like Ro Danishei's album! I wasn't overkeen on Simon Curtis' album either but he's great on Michelle! I only just heard Fefe's song, well from watching the video in Jonjo's chart thread - reminds me of a less great version of Kelly Clarkson's Behind These Hazel Eyes  I was hunting for Hysteria on youtube just the other day and couldn't find it :drama: It's epic!!!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of its parent album. I am of course glad to see Caro and Tone on the playlist and Cocool still in the top20 Thanks Phil, it's a great song - not as good as Music Everywhere but what is? Apparently A Night Like This is now on Radio 2, great to hear! Hi Rich 1. Nero - Me & You (2) (CR-6-2-1) 2. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name (1) (CR-8-3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-1-2) Longest Runner 4. As it is, Britney got there first and the pop bars have suggested otherwise, as has the US airplay. Thanks Hits! 1. It's truly an excellent song, the best I've heard from the rising dubstep by a mile. Wish it would go top ten on iTunes! 2. Shame, I feel the complete opposite, I always have to turn Only Girl over straight away now  3. Indeed! I've never really been big on Britney but this is a truly great song - the elements of it are all great and it just works. Hope it goes to #1 for her in the UK! 4. One of the biggest growers of recent times certainly, and I really relate to the lyrics to it as well. 3 songs with dubstep/drum and bass influences in my top 4 - I try not to get carried away with the hype and the 'sounds' that come and go but I always seem to :drama: See 2008 and all of the nu-soul songs in my chart all year  5. Higher is a massive grower. I haven't actually heard Travie's version either and I don't care to, I don't like his voice. Can't believe Radio 1 have playlisted that instead of the Kylie version :/ Like you said somewhere, we're definitely the United States of Kingdom these days  Who knew that we were still part of Europe! 8. I still love it but I think there's a certain glass ceiling for this track in my chart, can't see it going top 5 - I'm not obsessed with it. 9. I know exactly what you mean, I've heard no hype around this track whatsoever, really hope it's a surprise hit. 11. I'd go as far to say it's their best single yet. And to be honest, I like the Tinie version as much as the album version, which doesn't feature him (and accounted for the song's original run in my top 20). 14. YES! Without wishing to sound like Thom (whatever happened to him!?!), this was one of those songs that 'sounded better in a club' Not that I didn't like it before but it certainly had more of an impact on me when I heard it out the other night! 19. I'm already getting slightly bored of this song :( But then I've never been a huge Avril fan anyway - she's still yet to ever have a top ten hit in my chart!

I'm already getting slightly bored of this song :( But then I've never been a huge Avril fan anyway - she's still yet to ever have a top ten hit in my chart! 1. Nero seems to stall around no. 12, then when it finally shows some sign of climbing higher another song comes along and overtakes knocking it back down again. Then it climbs back to no. 12 again!!! :drama: :( 3. Agree, all the elements come together perfectly. Then again, I've charted a fair few Britney tracks high up my chart. Sometimes it's not all about the vocals, or the lyrical content. I thought 'Gimme More' and 'Womanizer' were both great tracks but mostly because of the excellent production on the tracks. I just can't imagine myself charting Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me (Instrumental)!!! At this moment in time, 'HIAM' seems like a foregone conclusion for #1 but in the UK, especially in 2010, the tracks that I thought would be no. 1 hits ended up either peaking at #2 or #3 - it was those songs I wrote off as minor top 20 hits that became the UK #1s last year that provided those " :manson: " moments. 4. I think it's difficult to avoid a "new sound" as people do eventually jump onto the bandwagon because they lack the creative thought to produce something different and stand out. Then again, if radio and TV aren't going to support it then why bother trying. It's catch 22; a phrase you've used many times and is always very true. :( Imagine all the "dubstep" hits that are going to dominate Eurovision 2011. 5. Well, it certainly feels like United States of Kingdom. Maybe it's an age thing that the younger posters here will start to think themselves in another 10/15 years time. England has been Americanised so much - it's reflected not just in music, but in TV, film, popular culture overall. What Great Britain lacks is...British. Even the biggest British exports have been/are being influenced by America. Don't think Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would like to be classed as another American state. :kink: Anyways, back on topic ( :P ), I decided to YouTube the Travie version. It's...ho-hum!!! :( (the Kylie version is better). FrK6N4db-ik 11. I listened to the 30 second preview of 'Eyes Wide Shut' on iTunes expecting it to sound completely different. I was under the impression the original version was gonna sound totally different and that it had been remixed with Tinie's rap included. I still don't understand why the record company are insisting on releasing this in 4 weeks time. Bring the release date forward to in a fortnights time, I can understand. 14. Thom now resides on Haven under the username Lenny (or at least he did last time I saw Thom there). Those old "it sounds great in a club" comments really were hilarious. I heard the theme tune to Coronation Street. It sounds better in a CLUB. Oh, how he was ridiculed. Bless!!! :( That's the thing though with many dance hits, once they're heard loud in a club with all the atmosphere it really does enhance the track loads. I also like the fact that 'Hello' doesn't have a run-of-the-mill dance track music video. The tennis match music video is an inspired idea. 19. Have to admit, Avril has always been inconsistant in my chart ranging from the absolutely brilliant ('My Happy Ending', 'Complicated') to the downright atrocious ('Alice', 'Sk8ter Boi'). Yes, I couldn't stand 'Sk8ter Boi'. I think I've mentioned this in the past but back in 2003 when I was at college someone was listening to Avril's debut album on their iMac (so everyone could hear it) and I was genuinely surprised that the album tracks were pretty decent.
January 14, 201114 yr Rich :) 1. Nero - Me & You (2) (CR-6-2-1) Surprised this managed to get number 1 for you :o I thought #2 would be it's peak. Obviously I was wrong! 2. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name (1) (CR-8-3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-1-2) Longest Runner 3. Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me (NEW) (CR-3) ERGH. This is awful. OK I'm LYING. But I'm surprised it's debuted so high for you :o I know Brit's quite hit and miss/don't really care too much about it, with you. pleased though! 4. Yasmin - On My Own (6) (CR-15-OUT-20-14-6-4) 5. Taio Cruz feat Kylie Minogue - Higher (9) (CR-19-9-9-5) Keep forgetting to chart this! They should mix all 3 versions! Have Travie's rap in it, whilst Taio and Kylie share the verses & Chorus/Bridge! 6. Tove Styrke - White Light Moment (3) (CR-3-2-3-2-3-1-1-1-2-3-6) 7. January 14, 201114 yr Author 1. 1. Hopefully it will be a slow burner :drama: 3. Britney never seems to *quite* be able to get to #1 in the UK anymore...wonder if this will change her fortunes? 4. I agree, although ESC's always a year or two behind usually so it'll be dubstep 2013 :kink: 5. I completely agree, and it doesn't help when the biggest radio station pull stunts like this. Not that Kylie's British of course but it's just their anti anything not American stance! 11. Nope, the sole difference is that there's a Tinie rap where there was previously just an instrumental dance bit! 14. Ah right, I haven't been on Haven for years! Yes, I used to love them too. 'I hate this, worst song of the year' 'it will be #1 in your chart once you've heard it in a club' 'no it won't it's $hite' - two weeks later et voila :magic: I heard Nero in the same club too, but then I heard What's My Name straight after, so it cancelled out any effect there might have been me hearing one and not the other!!! Nero were never in danger of not getting the #1 though I don't think, I couldn't have let it stall at #2. It reminds me strangely of 7 years ago when Motorcycle's As The Rush Comes quickly climbed to #1 in my chart, and peaked at #11 in the UK :o Nice to start the year off with a great dance song I think, even if the UK don't fully appreciate it  I too like the Hello video :D 19. I can't stand most of her songs at all. In hindsight I should have charted Complicated and maybe My Happy Ending and I'm With You, and When You're Gone was decent, but everything else of hers I'm not a fan of. Sk8er Boi reminds me of my last year in high school
January 14, 201114 yr *shoots Jonjo in the head for not adoring Adele* Great #1, Radio 1 have been all over it recently so whilst I was initally unsure I've grown to really love it. Wasnt too convinced that Avril and Britney had returned with amazing songs either at first, but again I've come round. Great top 20 on the whole of course, completly obsessed with 'The Last Dance' at the moment, and still adoring 'Hello'. Great to see you finally getting into 'Jar Of Hearts' aswell. Been adoring it for quite a while now, is it doing well again?
January 14, 201114 yr Author Rich :) 1. New Yasmin! *youtubes* FANTASTIC :o Bar ADELE, I only removed one more and that's because I haven't heard it yet... Thanks Jonjo! I love Me & You! Couldn't let it stall at #2, nice to have some fresh blood at the top after White Light Moment, The Flood and What's My Name have dominated the last few months in my chart. Brit's song is really great, I guess I'm coming round to her more these days, although in 12 years of doing it, she's still never had a #1 in my chart :o I still haven't heard Taio's version of Higher, but I love this Kylie version now, haven't liked a Taio single this much single I Can Be :o Although if Higher stalls at #5 it will be his 3rd #5 in my chart (he's never been any higher!). I agree about Anna, definitely not a Music Everywhere but far from a shameful comeback. Well I heard Stuttering thanks to your chart thread actually, although it really reminds me of a weaker version of Kelly Clarkson's Behind These Hazel Eyes  Finish Line is another decent song from Yasmin, she could have a very good album indeed :o
January 14, 201114 yr Oooh 'Finish Line' is fantastic :o just as dance was starting to get generic and samey, Yasmin comes along and makes it unique/interesting again! The verses remind me of some other song though, I can't quite make out which song though and it's annoying me. I want to say a Sugababes or an Atomic Kitten song but I'm probably wrong.

I've never been a huge fan of hers but all of her singles have done respectably in my chart and this looks like another 'top ten but not top five' hit for her for me. True, although I can't ignore how great it is, despite hearing it on every advert going too  Britney >>>>>>>> Avril, but both are thoroughly decent, sometimes I guess artists really do justify the hype that they're getting! The Last Dance is great, so uplifting  Well I wouldn't say I'm finally getting into Jar Of Hearts, I literally only heard it for the first time this week![/late]

Busted's Year 3000? Yep, they remind me of that too :P Great song though, she's really shaping up to be a fantastic artist!
