The thing is that Ke$ha was effectively allowing anyone to get her single for free at her own website months before it was due to be released, that surely had a detrimental effect on long term sales?

 

That would depend on when she was allowing people to download it for free. Obviously had it been in November/December then I retract my previous comment, but months prior... I cannot imagine her losing anymore than 5k.

I think it was around october/november so in keeping with your previous comment, it probably would have lost only a few thousand sales

I'm sure that Chase & Status 'Blind Faith' will be a massive hit - it's by far their best single to date imo. Surprised Ke$ha is doing so well but considering it's been around already for three months in other countries, perhaps people aren't as bored of waiting for the UK release as first assumed. 'We R Who We R' will probably be big next week but I don't see the song maintaining its sales over a long period of time like 'TiK ToK' achieved (even though the track benefitted from the Xmas/New Year crossover peiod).

I had a feeling L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. would be brought forward after seeing it on Irish iTunes. Hopefully a decent sized hit for them :D

You need to remember that people don't follow other counties charts like we do, the casual music buyers are the ones who'll be giving it the sales it needs to be a proper hit.

Not really, it's got a pretty exponential lead over the rest of the top 5 so each position climb from now on will be harder for Ke$ha but it's not a huge lead.

I'm quite surprised that Ke$ha is doing this well considering it's been on the net since October!

I really don't want Kesha to be #1. Bruno Mars hold on!
