Obviously in the first chart in 1952, the whole Top 12 were new entries, but I was wondering what the record was for ALL the top positions from 1 downwards being new entries. For example, has there ever been 1-5 all new entries, or even 1-7, 1-10 etc...

Would be great if anyone knew

I'm pretty sure there was a week in the early 2000s where the top 7 were all new entries.

it was actually six

w/e 15/4/00

01. Craig David - Fill Me In

02. Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers

03. Richard Ashcroft - A Song For The Lovers

04. Steps - Deeper Shade Of Blue

05. Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch

06. Lock 'n' Load - Blow Ya Mind

the number one the previous week was westlife - fool again which fell to 8

i'll have a look through chartstats to see if there is any that beat this

I do believe there was one week where the top 7 were all new hits as well.
Not sure if this helps, but I vaguely remember a week in about October 1998 when it was the first time (I think) the top 5 were all new entries. I think Alanis Morissette's Thank You was number 5 that same week, but i'm sure someone out there can correct me if i'm wrong on this!

Yes, that's right:

1 Cher - Believe

2 George Michael - Outside

3 U2 - Sweetest Thing

4 Culture Club - I Just Wanna Be Loved

5 Alanis Morissette - Thank You

Spacedust - Gym And Tonic fell to #6 from #1.

Interesting that the average age of the artists in the top four that week must have been about 43  Would NEVER happen now!

Thanks for jogging my memory on the top 5 that week! I'd forgotten about the top 6 week in 2000. Ah, it brings back so many memories haha. Was there really a week when the top 7 were all new entries?

Another (kinda) new Top 6:

01. Ciara feat. Petey Pablo - Goodies NE

02. Elvis Presley - A Fool Such As I/I Need Your Love Tonight {2005} NE

03. The Chemical Brothers - Galvanize NE

04. Athlete - Wires NE

05. Feeder - Tumble And Fall NE

06. Lucie Silvas - Breathe In NE

and yeah, I preferred it when there was a bit of variety in the ages of chart stars. Nowadays (with a couple of exceptions), if you're over 30 you're pretty much past it! haha

found another six:

01. Ciara feat. Petey Pablo - Goodies

02. Elvis Presley - A Fool Such As I/I Need Your Love Tonight {2005}

03. The Chemical Brothers - Galvanize

04. Athlete - Wires

05. Feeder - Tumble And Fall

06. Lucie Silvas - Breathe In

the same week elvis presley set the record for biggest fall from number one on the w/e 29/1//05

damn, someone beat me to it!

Sorry.

Still looking for that new Top 7 (which I'm starting to doubt?). Though I saw a week where there are 7 new songs inside the Top 10.

I think I was thinking of the Ciara week when I thought I remembered a 7, so yeah, I think 6 might be the record

But that week wasn't really all new as the #2 was a re-entry... technically it was classed as a new entry but I don't consider it one

six must be the record, if the first time the top 5 was new entries was oct 1998, and i've just checked 1998+ and only found six new entries, then it has to be six :)
There was one week in the 90s, there was 8 new entries in the top 10, I can't remember the week ending chart. Probably someone else can shed more light on it.
7 new entries in the top 10 is definitely the record, and there has never been a week when the top 7 were all new.

Lucie Silvas must have been pretty gutted, she could have had a No. 1 record if she'd released a different week

i have searched the chartstats from 2000+ and didn't find anything that beat 6

IIRC ChartsPlus has covered this before, and an all-new Top 6 is the most they found.

Also, 7 is the most NE's in the T10 (C+ #184 5/3/05) - it's happened several times.
