Two Door Cinema Club 'What You Know' has been playlisted on Radio 1 for months now, so why is it only now that it's storming up the iTunes chart?

I at first thought Where Is The Love when I first heard Price Tag, but now I'm thinking Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield :P tbh its the amount of comparisons I can make that puts me off the song a bit :( its a lot better than Do It Like a Dude though

Yeah, it's like the pop version of Coming Home. :lol:

 

It was produced by Dr. Luke apparently, who also produced Tik Tok, California Gurls, Dynamite, Hold it Against Me and We R Who We R (i.e. all those pop songs with the same beat and instruments :lol:), so it's kind of different for him! He also produced Magic for B.o.B./River Cuomo and That's All She Wrote for T.I./Eminem. :wub: This Dr. Luke guy is clearly amazing. :lol:

I'll chuck in another comparison... I think Price Tag sounds a lot like Pixie Lott's Gravity myself. I'm probably alone on that though.

 

Anyway, PT is atleast better than Do it Like a Dude - not that that's saying much, given DILAD is literally one of the worst things I've ever heard. Still don't quite get the hype around her... In saying that, I'd probably rather it was #1 than Grenade, which still seems painfully average to my ears - although I didn't particularly like Just the Way You Are, I could still see the appeal, but Grenade is just so dreary.

 

Personally, I'm just holding out hope that Enrique can somehow do it :wub:

Gravity sounds like No Air to me. I guess that's mainly Pixie Lott, Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown's screaming though. :lol:

I Need a Doctor up to #16!!! I love this song so much! :D It makes me just go "awwwww". So cute. :wub: And I know I must be so slow, but I just noticed the connection between "Doctor" and "Dr. Dre".

Higher up to #11! :o Guess that makes Wonderman going top 10 a tad more difficult though. :(

Could someone enlighten or direct me to where i might find out(eg earlier in this thread, i have looked back a fair few pages with no luck) why the Kylie version of Higher(given the Taio album version still has a separate listing) is jumping up the chart - is it just the usual severely botched, functionally crippled (as in cataclysmic disaster levels), misfunctioning (but importantly looks nice + makes u KOOOL in your delusional excuse for a reality creating machine AKA the MIND!) $h!te from crApple (iTunes in this case)? - given that AFAIK NO Radio station is playing it APART from :drumrolls: "Isle of Wight Radio" according to "comparemyradio.com" and the Higher vid airplay is just the (granny free) Travie version (?) - i don't believe it's due Kylie LOONS since I haven't even heard/made an attempt to hear it, never mind contemplating downloading it etc ( i would have to drag my arse into loon action if/when any (Kylie version)physical was released, apparently EMI have produced some for the German mkt(?) someone suggested that as possibly the UK will too(?)

Does anybody know why the Taio/Kylie/Travie version of Higher has climbed so high on iTunes? Given that, as far as I am aware, no Radio station is playing it apart from "Isle of Wight Radio" (according to "comparemyradio.com") and I've only seen the Travie version on TV. I don't think it can be down to Kylie's fans, because, as a Kylie fan myself, I've not even heard it, or attempted to hear it, let alone contemplated downloading it. I heard they're releasing a physical single of it in Germany, so I might get it if one gets released in the UK too (does anybody know if it will?)

 

I think it's just climbing, because it is. I mean, it's basically a mixture of the two versions getting airplay, so it's not like it's not getting any promotion. And the album version is falling too. I think there's a lot of people who've been "waiting" for the single version. Sort of like with Higher by The Saturdays. The album version charted between #20 and #30 for weeks and weeks, and then shot up to #10 when the single version was released. Just similar scenario here to be honest (along with the fact that the songs have the same title :lol:).

I never thought of the same title reason despite it being part + parcel of the current digital chart era - thankfully we have the ability to exchange (+ record, disseminate) ideas. Having experienced little music media recently i see i obviously can't just go on "dry" stats like take 'compare my radio' so literally.

 

Anyway i'll get back to getting on with those endless of life's little essentials....

I knew people were panicking for nothing with Avril. She'll be fine with more airplay etc...

Well, forget what I said about Blind Faith getting knocked out of the top 10 by a good song... -_-

I just hope INAD overtakes Higher before Higher goes top 10 now... or Wonderman re-overtakes.

 

Enrique at 5 and 27, but currently only #8 in the mids - I wonder how high up he can climb by the end of the week? I think he could potentially get as high as #4. Will also be interesting to see how I Need A Doctor will chart.

Higher doing so well makes me think that Eyes Wide Shut does in fact have a good chance of beating its #10 peak. Tinie doesn't have a big part, but that is the version receiving all the airplay, so most will probably be waiting to buy that

 

Plus they have promo lined up on release week - Alan Carr, Daybreak, Dancing On Ice (apparently) etc.. & a physical release

Yeh it's more that the newer releases are pushing them down rather than them falling

 

Epic have messed up both of their post album releases.. Hopefully for the next time they won't make the same mistake. They had the tour though and a JB is in Miami right now, so I think that's what stopped them from moving the release date forward.. Probably thought they wouldn't be able to promote it as well
