yeh but when enrique released i like it, that tool ages to break top 40 and at end of monday night that was at 5 eventually climbing to 2 (peaking at 4 on uk charts) so i still think top 10 is on course

That's what I'm concerned about, "Tonight" is even worse imo -_-

I'd be happy to have Bruno, Ke$ha or Jessie J at #1 really.

'Price Tag' at no. 35 at 13:02pm on Sunday. Davidson has posted that the video got its premiere on T4. Jessie J could well be inside the iTunes top 10 within a few hours. Then the top 10 effect will kick in. Would be interesting to see Jessie J 'Price Tag' hit no. 1 with such small amount of promotion/airplay. If it does go no. 1, then this could actually spend a few weeks there as the song continues to grow in popularity.
I really don't think it will go to #1 this week. If it does then it's clear that the public have been brainwashed by the media.

Same could said about other tracks that went straight to no. 1 thanks to the media buzz; Arctic Monkeys 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', Duffy 'Mercy', Pixie Lott 'Mama Do'. At least if Jessie J did get to no. 1, I'd be surprised if anyone knocked her off the top after just 1 or 2 weeks.

Jessie J WONT be number one next week, and i dont think Price Tag will ever be number one, i love the song but i reckon it will peak at 4 or 5 at the most
Just bought Enrique's 'Tonight (I'm F**kin' You)'. Such a party anthem despite it's blatant trashiness and general cheesy lyrics. Hopefully this is a huge hit for him - I can see it peaking at around #4-#6 tbh.

What is this 'top 10 effect' anyway?

I think Jessie J will get the #1 when the Brits are on that particular week, I just think its too early for the track to chart at #1 it could end up staying longer at #1 than 4 weeks, and people will get sick of it after awhile. I love to see Bruno back at #1 next week though.

How? Jessie is doing quite a bit of online promotion (through her facebook account) at the moment for the song and also debuting the video on the day of it's release to iTunes, quite a smart move on her behalf. It's not exactly an X factor popularity push, is it? She's working her ass off and has some big promo coming up in February to help the single/album. (Which is no different to most other artists who actually want to do well)

The UK public are too lazy to actually search for the song they want (unless they really want it) so won't know it's available until it's viewed on the iTunes homepage in some form. The top 10 effect is the most common factor for it as the new singles section is hidden behind the new albums section, so some people only see it when it's viewed on the front page.

I think they are refering to the 'hype'. The bottom line is, if people want to buy the song, they will buy the song.. nothing to do with being brainwashed. The same could be said about Britney, having no airplay and selling on hype/name alone, bunch of nonsense.

If Ke$ha isn't number one today, Ima shoot the cokehead.

If she doesn't, I will be so happy :D

Mostly because Bruno is #1 yet again.

It's a MUCH better song than 'Do It Like A Dude', I'd say it's a worthy #1 if it gets there.

That Yasmin song has been literally everywhere for a while now, I think it could still go on to do big things yet.
