Yeah I'm going to stick to Radioactive. That was a classic. Primadonna is not very good but then I never expected much from it anyway. I'll just ignore it and continue to impatiently await the album!

I really like it BUT she's clearly 'sold out'. Now usually I despise that term, but the instrumental is very much like something that Taio Cruz or Pitbull or Ke$ha or any other popstar might do. Granted, her voice makes it different I guess. But the thing is, no matter what she does, she won't get a hit :(

Contrary to my expectations having heard it live, I actually really like the song! I do without the squelching hammer of the production over the chorus but the melody her vocals follow is lovely.

I really like it, even though it is pretty generic.

No, the video's not doing it for me either. There is just something about it that I really dislike. Marina can pull off the look she is going for in stills but it really didn't translate to the video well at all and when you combine that with the boring song it's just NOT HAPPENING FOR ME.

I like it. I don't think it's generic or a sell out. It's not much poppier than Oh No and the melody and lyrics are classic Marina.

 

I agree with the person that said she doesn't really pull off this image. I think Lana Del Rey has shown how you do the whole old-Hollywood 'thing'. Marina doesn't have any mystique however desperately she tries.

Vocally and lyrically it is still very Marina but that backing track is a bit...harsh. Where exactly is the chorus though? I can't really spot a proper one.

I really like it, sure its generic, but it has a nice melody. I do think this whole era has reeked of desperation though, and it is off putting to say the least, but I do like Marina and the song is good for me.

I really think this thread would be much more fitting in the pop forum, it's mainly just the regular forum visiter hipsters commenting on how awful they think this is because it's generic. nothing from this era has proved it to be an indie album anyway.

This is better than Radioactive and that other pile of crap she released the other day but to be honest she's been well and truly trumped by LDR considering the image and concept (I think) she's trying to pull off.

I am really loving this. Much more so than I was with 'Radioactive'. It's just like 'Radioactive' in the sense that it should be generic, but somehow, with her vocals and the melody, it doesn't feel too generic. At least to me it doesn't. :lol:

Primadonna is the first MATD song i dislike. Instrumentally moue and doesn't lead anywhere.

 

I don't get the hate for Radioactive though. Well it has nothing on TFJ era but i like it. A good different direction, unlike Primadonna.
