It's only about twice as big as #2, which is still very good, but not a :w00t: moment.
Popularity bars like that are a regular occurance.

I'd go so far as to say they happen about once a month.

The real 'kicker' will be what her pop bars are like at 2pm on Sunday.

I wonder if BTW could get #1 on Japanese iTunes? I think it could happen to be honest!

And by the look of that link to a list of Japanese #1s in 2008, the Japanese have mastered the art of 'new week, new #1' even more than we have

Hmmm, Jessie is quite a bit ahead of Chipmunk now, but I still think he'll be safe enough for #1.

I find it really amusing that Star Girl by McFly is in the top 1000 every week (its at #500 or something like that right now). Chris Moyles has really made the track a 'classic' because of him constantly playing it now for something like 2 years. Wonder what the total sales are now.

Actually, they're not that rare - I make the margin ~2.35-1.

True, I think it'll be more telling to see her bar after her full 48hours on the rolling chart.

Lady GaGa's is beating Jessie J by about 25 pop bars, my guess as I can't count pop bars. But she will only sell about 17k this week getting her to number 12, she'll be lucky to go top ten, and she'll need a miracle to go top 5.

And Rihanna has been in the iTunes top ten for some time, she has to go top ten officially this Sunday. C'mon, c'mon, c'mon ...

Don't be ridiculous she will have done much more than 17k in 2 days.

Yeah, 17k in 2 days seems incredibly low for a popbar like that, considering the number 1 will probably have sold in that region on Sunday and Monday...

More like 36 hours, it was out after 2pm, and I guess when it hit iTunes around 4pm, its even less, I really don't get the 2 days thing at all. If the track was released 1 minute after midnite on Thursday night that's 2 complete days.

Lady GaGa is more likely to sell on average 30k this week. There was a website simonf posted that showed the iTunes sales figures per day and at the start of the week Jessie J and Chipmunk had reported sold 17k and 15k on Tuesday (iirc). If 'Born This Way' rocketed to no. 1 within 5 hours on iTunes' "48 hour rolling chart" then there's no way 'BTW' will sell 17k.

:cheer: Epic.

I'd be happy with a Top 20 entry tomorrow for GaGa. Anything more would be a plus. :D

Just seen an advert for Born This Way on T4.

Those pop bars are huge, but not half as huge as they will be by tonight, tomorrow, and throughout the week next week

Nicely done Darren :)

Gaga's supremacy is unstoppable I'm afraid - not much on the mainstream that isn't now though... where's the good music gone?!

And Black and Yellow virtually KILLS my ears :(

I actually think she might go top 5 :o

If the pop bars show the last 48 hours, that means she's sold around 2.5x as much as Jessie J in less than half the time (given she's been out for less than 24 hours). Assuming Jessie J's going to sell about 80k over the course of the week, I'd guess about a quarter of that will come in the last two days. That's 20k, and if GaGa is outselling her 5x now then she should breeze to 50k.

This is far more intriguing than when Green Day released their album on a Friday - the #2 that week sold less than 30k and albums are so front-loaded that they ended up selling over double that in two days - and then the same the next week when if it had been released on a Monday, they would have probably sold about 120/130k in the first week and 40k in the second.

She's officially #1 on 23/23 iTunes worldwide. Japan became the last country added to the list :)

Nice little picture from atrl...

(Whoever made it did forgot Australia and Japan)

Also, her final spins in the US finished at around 2400-2500, unsure of the exact number, beating Britney's record of 619 with HIAM easily.

So Gaga is #1 in every country which has iTunes?

Yeap. Worldwide iTunes domination. I don't mean to seem weird, but I'm quite proud :)

LOL, #1 in every country, #1 for sure next week, and the week after, and the week after, I think we are going to end up with a Umbrella style #1  we could do with a track at #1 for a while, to break the one weekers, but not Umbrella style. I grab my coat.
