Also, someone from the previous thread said that they've never known a song not to get #1 with a lead on iTunes as big as Gaga's currently is.

I can think of one example, which had an even bigger lead. You Got the Dirtee Love, a masterpiece, lost out to some generic American ubran tripe going by the name of "In My Head" by so-called Jason "I make good songs, but they're always the ones that miss out on #1" Derulo, despite having a massive lead on iTunes. It had a massive lead at the end of the previous week too, but got beated by Everybody Hurts. :(

How sad. Reminds me of when Ellie was number 1 on iTunes for like 3 weeks and got kept off by a charity sigle that gave like a quarter of the sales to charity. How unfair. Poor Ellie and Florence. However the lesson has now been learned - don't release songs mid week(referring to Florence). I can see it happening this week from the Brits affect.

Yeah, Florence and Dizzee would've beaten Everybody Hurts if it had a whole weeks of sales. :(

But it was sort of a difficult situation, since it was a live track, and it didn't even exist until it was performed, half way through the week. If they waited until the following week to release it, it might not've sold as much, with the initial hype gone.

I guess they could've recorded a studio version of it, and released it on the Sunday, but then it'd still be a bit weird, because the song was supposed to be a surprised BRITs performance, so that would've spoiled the surprise somewhat.

Also, Only Girl won the award over Dance in the Dark!! Wasn't sure it would, but yay! :D

Looks like GaGa could have a "Just Dance"-esque run once the Grammys hype kicks in and the video is released. I'd assume that the Brits boost won't be quite enough to see Jessie J nick the #1 again, would be weird though considering she'll have come from behind all three weeks

I'm really, really hoping 'Teenage Dream' can go Top 40 for Glee this week. Brilliant rendition of the song! Glad to see the Boys (superior imo) mash-up enter. (Although neither are as good as the first two mash-ups :()

Noah and the Whale. You are going the WRONG WAY! :drama: Also surprised to see 'Rocketeer' do as well as it is doing for some reason. Was sure it'd only "scrape" the top 40. But to see it safe inside the top 20 in iTunes, is quite a nice surprise

I hope Rescue Me can get top 10!! Rescue Me by Skepta was robbed of a top 10 placing, so I at least hope that song can do it!

Oh yeah and forgot to mention that I wish YMA6 would hurry and go top 10! :drama: Although I can see them rising more throughout the week and not just be up high due to pre-orders etc...

Skepta's 'Rescue Me' is brilliant! Really gutted that missed the Top 10! :(

To be honest, if it gets close, I'm firmly in camp Jessie J. It'd be really something amazing to see a song stay at #1 for three weeks whilst fending off strong competition each week rather than just staying there by default as not much else is out, which tends to be what happens these days. And if she did do it, I have no idea how anybody could call it "boring", but whatever, some people probably still would. Apparently a new #1 cruising to a clear victory is more exciting than an old #1 having to tussle to retain the top spot.

But it's not even a battle, at the moment, obviously, so that's fairly irrelevant for now. I still expect a comfortable victory for Gaga this week - though not quite as huge as some others seem to think judging by a few posts I've seen in the sales thread!

YM@6 seem to have stalled, they haven't moved from 13 all day, hopefully they can rise more :(

I never thought I'd be able to like a song by Chiddy Bang after Opposite of Adults raped my ears, but I like Rescue Me (it sounds very similar to Airplanes :o )

Only really good songs such as Good Times by Roll Deep ft Jodie Connor and Number 1 by Tinchy Stryder ft. N-Dubz can stay #1 for 3 weeks.

Also, the Grammys aren't going well.

For "Best pop collaboration with vocals", amongst the nominees were:

Lady Gaga/Beyonce

Katy Perry/Snoop Dogg

B.o.B./Hayley Williams/Eminem

yet some random song I've never even heard of wins. Major WTF. :( I was really hoping Airplanes would win, because it was my favourite song of last year, and it was specifically Part II that was nominated too. :(

Not that witty, I'm afraid, Eric.

Sorry to hear about your Grammys disappointment, though!! *hug*

I actually just checked and one of the people on that collaboration is Herbie Hancock, who the Grammys love (he even beat the beloved Amy to AOTY in 2008!) - not my cup of tea, though. It does also have the fabulous India.Arie on it though :o *youtubes*

:( I'm really upset tbh. And Hayley Williams is looking so pretty on the red carpet. She seemed to be forcing a smile there. Maybe she's upset about it too. She should've won. She's so beautiful, and really cute, and I love her voice. :(

I don't think I want to listen to the song that beat it tbh. I'm probably just gonna go to sleep now tbh. :(

Why the hell do the Grammys have literally over 100 awards? There's such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I really do worry that GaGa's career is peaking way too early. Surely it's logically impossible for her to still be finding ways of topping the meat dress and 'being born' onstage in 3 years' time? Anything she does will seem second-rate by comparison.

And I think some people here are WAY overestimating Born This Way's sales this week - I "only" expect about 80-90k, which I think Jessie J is in with a good chance of beating. GaGa will probably get #1 eventually, but I don't think it's going to be a HUGE seller - while the song's OK, it's a bit cookie-cutter really. I can only assume she's releasing another single before the album (as the album apparently isn't due for more than 3 months yet) - if that's the case, I assume BTW was only ever meant to be a "buzz single" and that the real killer track is coming as single #2.

Yes, Lady Gaga's next single is called Judas apparently, and it's another pre-album single, so she'll probably be #1 on every iTunes in the world again in a couple of months. :D

Yeah, there's tons of Grammy awards, but most of them are really stupid, like "Best instrumental jazz-country-pop song collaboration short music video" or something. And the other ones have stupid results. I mean, it would be fair enough if Telephone or California Gurls beat Airplanes, but it's a song I don't even know?! Like seriously? :(

very happy JLS arent anywhere near top spot! :)

cant wait till all their fans go over to one direction as well, thats gona be hilarious :):)

Jessie gaining on GaGa faster than I thought :o But I wonder how long for? Surely she's still slightly benefiting from the weekend effect/maybe number 1 news reports etc..

I know it's a long shot, but I'm seriously hoping Jessie can manage a third week!
