Posted February 20, 201114 yr According to this article, Duffy has quit music: http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/columnists/...15875-22935851/ :( I loved Rockferry, one of my fave albums of all time, but Endlessly was very average, the only songs I liked were Don't Forsake Me, Keeping My Baby, Endlessly, Girl and My Boy. Still, I hope she just has a hiatus and writes some music as good as Rockferry. It's amazing how Adele trailed her last era, yet she's trouncing poor Duffy this era! Era 1: Duffy >>>>>>>>>>> Adele (loved both albums though! ^_^) Era 2: Adele >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Duffy Tbh, 21 is more amazing than even Rockferry ever was, so overall Adele is my fave artist, but I really hope Duffy doesn't actually quit music! :(
February 20, 201114 yr She doesnt come across as a very nice character to be honest, nothing really to love about her, I knew she wouldnt be able to come back like her first album, and WWW was the worst single to lead an album with what were they thinking  I love Stepping Stone though  She may as well quit, music is over for her i think.
February 20, 201114 yr Fail. If this is indeed true, then I can't say I'll really miss her and if its over her disappointment over Endlessly, then she shouldn't have produced a mediocre album, I mean she had like 2/3 years to get it right.
February 20, 201114 yr She didn't even want to make a second album if I remember correctly, so not surprising
February 20, 201114 yr Maybe it's a publicity stunt to boost album sales. :D Duffy sure knows how to follow up a flop single.
February 20, 201114 yr I blame that bloody coke advert myself. It should be blaimed for anything that ever goes wrong in her life ever again to be honest. It was that appalling. I sympathize with the Duffster though, success came so early and so hugely that I suppose a fall was inevitable. Not helped by 'Well Well Well' being repugnant and the album itself being so baddly produced you'd think Adele had done it herself to remove the competition. Kinda annoyed all that seems to matter to her is the chart posistions and sales, but if she's fine financially with this malachy then fine, good luck to her. It sticks a bit of sour grapes but meh, there WILL be the inevitable comeback in a year or so.
February 20, 201114 yr I wouldn't be too bothered to see her go.. I think people overrate Rockferry. It was a good album and I do own it, but it certainly wasn't as great as people seem to make out.
February 20, 201114 yr To be honest I'D probably leave a flop music career to spend the rest of my life in bed with Mike Phillips, but there we go.
February 20, 201114 yr I don't really believe this. I do think in terms of being a commercially successful artist that's probably it for her now, but I think she'll be one of those that carries on with smaller independent releases and continues touring etc. (when news of her being dropped surfaces anyway)
February 20, 201114 yr How the hell did her record label make £20 million off an album that "only" sold about 7 million copies?
February 20, 201114 yr Duffy considered dropping out of the limelight around the time Stepping Stone was released as a single. She's never liked the celebrity lifestyle and certainly I think it was too much for her in 2008. She seems generally down to Earth as well. She kept going for her fans but she probably doesn't see the point in carrying on after the reaction to her latest album. I actually quite like Endlessly, its no Rockferry but its still decent. The constant comparisons to Adele must be grating too. In 2008 everyone was saying 'LOLs at Adele, not the sound of 2008, Duffy is sooo much better' and now everyone is saying 'LOLs at Duffy flopping, I've always preferred Adele, she's amazing'. Its not like there's even a feud between the two women and this shows how fickle the public can be. I don't blame Duffy for dropping out of the limelight. She's just getting laughed at right now as it is and she's never been comfortable as a 'celebrity'. I expect she won't give up music forever. She'll more than likely go away for a few years and have a family and release low-key but fantastic albums in 10 years time.
February 20, 201114 yr No sad loss. One album wonder who won't be missed by me - I did sort of prefer her to Adele in 2008 and Warwick Avenue was gorgeous, but everything else including her album was imo overrated and Endlessly was a massive letdown. I wonder how much, if any, of this is down to Adele's success recently after she trounced her in 2008 - they were very much launched and hyped together and will obviously be continued to be compared when they release new albums within 2 months of each other...I feel sorry for her actual die hard fans/loons if she has any left. If Delta announced that she was quitting music forever I'd be gutted!
February 20, 201114 yr meh, I'm glad if this is true, I never understood her huge success in 2008- her voice was very overrated imo -_- Adele has just turned the tables on her so much :o its just something I never expected, but I'm glad- I'm not a huge fan of Adele, but I always preferred her
February 20, 201114 yr How the hell did her record label make £20 million off an album that "only" sold about 7 million copies? im sure its only the album alone
February 20, 201114 yr I'm hope not, its probably just a publicity stunt. That's what I posted three hours ago Martin. At least quote me and say "i agree with Hits". :)
