February 20, 201114 yr UNPOPULAR OPINION: I actually liked Well, Well, Well, even if it is a terrible pastiche of that WRETCH Lulu. But yes, this does smack very much of toys out of pram now Adele is reigning supreme.
February 20, 201114 yr GOOD. 'Mercy' is probably one of the most overrated songs of all time as far as I'm concerned and 'Well Well Well' was just vile.
February 20, 201114 yr I am sad if this is true. 'Rockferry' was a fantastic album and I really loved her back in 2008 but 'Endlessly' really was an awful effort to follow it up, not even one good song on there. I really want her to come back in a year with far better material and try and put the 'Endlessly' era behind her.
February 20, 201114 yr Author I feel sorry for her actual die hard fans/loons if she has any left. Had this been 2008, I would be DEVESTATED and probably driven to tears - literally. Now I'm just a bit upset as I know she can be capable of another Rockferry, given time!
February 20, 201114 yr That's what I posted three hours ago Martin. At least quote me and say "i agree with Hits". :) I agree with Hits

Like has been sad I don't think she's done forever. I expect there'll be future albums and that some may be as good as Rockferry. But I doubt she'll be commercially successful again which is a shame.
February 20, 201114 yr Well, Well, Well is an abomination. Also, when someone says they're quitting music then it's often because they've been dropped.
February 21, 201114 yr Well, Well, Well is an abomination. Also, when someone says they're quitting music then it's often because they've been dropped. Yes, it's a bit like the politician who quits office 'to spend more time with my family'. PS I sincerely hope she keeps away from the music news next week. It can't make great reading for her..
February 21, 201114 yr I really like Duffy, she always comes across really well in my opinion, not highly-strung or obnoxious at all. Her voice is really good too. Musically, her peak for me was the sublime 'Rockferry' single; Mercy is a modern classic and some of her first album was excellent, although I wouldn't give it more than 6/10 overall. I love the fact that 'Well Well Well' starts off with that screech! I like how it's quite brazen and I find it bizarre that so many people hate it. I can see it being polarizing but then surely some people must love it? If Adele had done it I reckon it would be bummed to extreme, especially on here(although Adele might have sung it better tbh). Duffy made an album she wanted to make and, although it was basically a flop (though even 2/3 of its opening sales would have got it to #1 a lot of the time!), that doesn't mean it was a bad record. If she gets dropped, well, it's a shame. I doubt she'd have another 2m selling album but she could go on to be a great established artist.

I genuinely don't believe Adele (or her management) would have gone anywhere near such a song for her album let alone a lead single. 2. You are being a little naughty here :P The album was launched at THE most advantageous time for sales. In that respect, and coming off the back of such a huge debut, sales of 51,000 for 9th place were very poor. If the album had been released in January Lord only knows how little it would have sold. February 21, 201114 yr I always thougth Duffy was very overated. I couldn';t have been more happy when Adele kicked ass at the grammys as well be even bigger with her second album Rockferry is a terribly overated album and Mercy is one of the worst number 1's this country as had. If she quits, i won't be sobbing into a tissue.
February 21, 201114 yr I don't actually understand the hate for Well, Well, Well. It's disappointing that R1 didn't playlist it really as it would have done decently if they had, plus she came second in the sound of... poll so support was kind of expected
February 21, 201114 yr To be fair, "Endlessly" just seems like a half-assed "Rockferry" (as an album I mean).
February 21, 201114 yr I properly listened to Endlessly today after hearing this news and I don't think its fair to call it a bad album. Fair play, Rockferry is a lot better and her voice is an acquired taste but I think the album is still pretty decent. How everyone can diss Duffy's voice I don't know, especially when Kesha's had a no.1 single in the last month.
February 21, 201114 yr GOOD if she's quitting music. Her voice is seriously grating. Mercy was terrible, Warwick Avenue was okay-ish, Stepping Stone was terrible, Rain On Your Parade was terrible. As none of these seem to get any airplay any more hopefully this means I'll never have to listen to her screeching again. How the hell Rockferry was as big as it was I'll never understand. Having said that I managed to completely avoid Well, Well, Well anyway. Edited February 21, 201114 yr by Bray

I still hear Mercy at least three times a week. I wish it was Warwick Avenue instead though :( Truly her only GREAT moment for me. Her voice on Endlessly definitely sounds more processed and nasally than on Rockferry though, which felt a lot more organic and real. Either that or she's really just completely forgotten how to control her voice in the last few years, it certainly didn't used to ever annoy me as much.
February 23, 201114 yr Yeah i read this a while back, Well Well Well was an awful choice of lead single but the album still went top 10 People are comparing her to Adele but MYFML was played to death the whole of the winter thanks to the x factor and within a month after it finished she released her new album, so she had alot more publicity than Duffy. I agree that it sounds like a strop and a management ploy to get people to buy the records or she might retire but why doesnt she just release a new song (that is actually good!) surely there must be one on the album
