Well there you go - it proves that all they care about is "fame" and of course fame in the US is more important than the UK.

What a stupid comment. Obviously if YOU were given an opportunity to better your career and gain more money etc you would. It's like turning down a promotion in work. I'm sure you would not do that.

Apparently Katy Perry and Gary Barlow are the bookies favourite's to replace Cheryl and Simon. :o

I can't see Katy doing it, but Gary i could...

What is the obsession with Cheryl going? It's not like her comments are particularly thought provoking or even honest at times.

And how does she expect to use it to help her music career, AI did nothing for Paula's career when she tried TWICE to go back to singing (one time even performing). And Paula is a sorta known name in the US, whilst Cheryl is going to be seen as nothing more than a British Britney Spears impersonator.

It would be so much better without Cheryl & Simon imo.

Simple reason, RATINS SOARED when she joined the panel. ITV now panicked she's leaving. Her and Simon are the most popular judges. Buzz Jack may not agree but public polls say otherwise.

I'm not trying to raise my celebrity status am I. That's the problem with these judging programs - it's all about raising your celebrity profile. It would make more sense if they used someone who manages popstars etc. Cheryl is obviously using the US X Factor to further her own pop career - not actually help someone else further their career.

I don't think UK X Factor will work without Simon. I don't know why they are so insistent on using celebrities as judges all the time rather than using people with experience. It's losing the aim of the show.

Being a celebrity is their job, It may not be classed as one but thats how they make a living like anyone so of course they are going to want to increase their profile and increase their careers. I think its a great opportunity for them.

IF GARY BARLOW IS A JUDGE I WILL KILL MYSELF.

I could not sit through a series of him sitting there, partronising people and talking soooooo sloooooowlyyyyy

Gary Barlow has the sexiest voice on Earth, i love it

I'm pretty sure most (at least the most important) polls have Dannii as the publics favourite judge?

They should do a new talent show like I said before or like the one in Holland or some european country where the judges are completely blind and don't see the act who's performing, unless they buzz in and "like" the voice and stuff. Can't remember what it's called, but the concept is brilliant!

I'm just waiting til we have confirmation, which should be soon because Auditions begin on March 27th apparently.
That's just in front of the producers iirc, the actual panel don't sit for another couple of months.

It's not a singing competition though, I think the judges are told before the show how to react. It often seems as scripted as WWE wrestling and there are frequent, ridiculous cases of a 'judge' singing the praises of somebody who has sung an entire song out of key who then berate a perfectly adequate performance simply because of who their 'mentor' is and some heightened, acted-up personal vendetta between them (which doesn't really exist).

People with experience (and scruples) would not allow this to happen and the show would be robbed of its spectacle as comments would be qualified. Genuine professionals would almost unanimously criticise the performances and justifiably - the singers on X Factor are raw and none are ready, even by the final. There would be no throwaway comments like 'you made the stage your own' for the audience to cheer. Instead it would become more documentary - at the moment it is pure entertainment.

Imo the show would still do well without Cheryl, but Simon pretty much is the X Factor.. I don't really know who could replace him

If X Factor does end up failing now....I wonder if that means "Must be the music" will take over?

What do you think?

Pretty sure Must Be The Music has been cancelled, so I doubt it

I don't think Katy would be a judge tbh... If it's Robbie or Gary I won't mind. I'd love Katy to be a judge, but I don't think she will...

Arghh, so could still be a while then?

Even though Simon said in November that he would announce it in 3/4 weeks, more like 3/4+ months!

If this is to happen I can see an anti-climatic choice of new judges. Something like Pixie Lott and Will Young. :kink:

I hope not, Pixie was an awful judge!

Well if Pixie Lott becomes a judge (thus using The X Factor to launch her "comeback" single et la Cheryl Cole and sell 200k in one week) then it'll be The R.I.P. Factor for me.
Cheryl's been officially confirmed for The X Factor USA, looks like it's a goodbye to Simon and Cheryl!
