Could "Price Tag" be a surprise million seller by the end of 2011?

Not sure. Infact, I'm not even sure Grenade will manage a million. Price Tag is certainly off to a great start though!

There's bound to be some songs from 2011 that will sell a million (although it'd be amazing if any songs managed to do it within 2011. I think the last song to sell 1 million in a year (beginning January) was Hallelujah by Alexandra Burke)!

The sales of PT are beyond amazing already. I can't believe how well it's stuck in there. I would imagine a million is a good bet.
And don't forget Jessie's album is out next week, the album version of PT will be cherry picked, so there be another version of PT on iTunes. :D

Agreed. I suppose it all depends how ruthless XL are. Past evidence suggests it would only take one live performance of SLY on any half decently sized TV show to guarantee another week at the top. I'm sure if Adele was offered up there would be several potential takers. But she looked knackered on Ellen today so maybe I hope they don't go for it.

Btw, about Price Tag, I heard a non B.o.B. version on the radio yesterday. Instead of the rap verse, it was Jessie going "La la la la la la eh eh" or something similar to that for ages. Is that the album version and/or is it available for download? Or is it that acoustic version that's hovering around #100 (except the rest of the song didn't really sound acoustic).
E.T with Kanye is out on UK ITunes and it's 122 now I heard... is that true?

As of right now. I see it at 125 but it could have been 122 earlier.

It's new... right?

Yes, I think it was released a few days ago?

I was actually thinking though, with post-album single mixes, releasing them early might actually reduce their sales overall. Like I think a lot of people buy the album version while they're waiting for the single version to be released, so they buy the song twice, essentially. People won't need to do that with E.T., because they'll just buy the single version straight-away.

Plus, you can semi-frontload them when you have different single mixes, as evident when you look at the chart runs for songs like Higher by The Saturdays and Eyes Wide Shut, which might lead to a lower peak for E.T., and other songs where they do this.

I think the rate of million sellers is going to increase now, I can see two more million sellers from 2009 and 4, maybe 5 from 2010.

From 2009, I think Fight For This Love and Bad Romance could sell a million? From 2010 I think When We Collide, Only Girl, Just the Way You Are and Love the Way You Lie? Don't know what else stands a chance though. Perhaps California Gurls will sell a million in like 20 years? It might get little boosts in sales each summer...

:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: THIS is why I bother waking up every morning. From time to time, something good happens in the world!! :cheer:

Perhaps more could make it(Like Meet Me Halfway), I was thinking songs that could make it fairly soon(5 years). I think Forget You might also make it.

Depending on how keen XL are to promote it to mainstream, SLY could do it but I'm not convinced they will promote it to the max.

Yeah, Someone Like You could. Especially if it gets released as a single. But even if it doesn't, if it follows in the footsteps of Make You Feel My Love (i.e. gets played on like every major TV show ), it could do it.

Also, vidcapper posted this list of the highest-selling songs that are still selling consistently enough to have made top 200 at least one week so far this year:

1 Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling 20/06/09 1140000

2 Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire 20/09/08 1080400

3 Lady Gaga - Pokerface 24/01/09 1023800

4 Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love 31/10/09 944800

5 Matt Cardle - When We Collide 25/12/10 928600

6 Eminem ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie 03/07/10 891800

7 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 07/11/09 889800

8 Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are 02/10/10 843000

9 Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody 04/10/08 812800

10 Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) 06/11/10 800400

11 Take That - Rule The World 27/10/07 800200

12 Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway 13/06/09 775200

13 Journey - Don't Stop Believin' 27/02/82 771800

14 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars 29/07/06 712800

15 Usher ft Will I Am - OMG 03/04/10 687000

I think all the top 14 could do it. Not so sure about OMG. Can't believe Meet Me Halfway is approaching 800,000!!!!! Best song of 2009 imo. MMH should get to a million before the end of the decade.

Come on Lupe and Kanye! :D

Didn't realise 'Do It Like a Dude' was still so high! Crazy.

It could be back in the top 10 next week I think, with the album release. Still don't like it, but Price Tag is kind of acceptable now. Weirdly according to the release schedule, she's releasing physical CDs of both DILAD and PT the week after the album

I'm putting this out there, 'Who You Are' will be the most downloaded track cherry-picked off Jessie's album on Monday, i think it could make top 40 at a push (on iTunes)? Hope so ;)
