What the hell and where the hell has Birdy - Skinny love appeared from?

its a fourteen year old boy covering a Bon Iver song- I'm surprised its suddenly took off, but its been getting a lot of radio 1 support

I'm not too surprised about Birdy's success - it seems to be one of those songs that instantly causes a reaction in some people, judging by what the reaction was like when I heard Fearne play it a good few weeks ago. A bit like Someone Like You, I guess

Still pretty amazing though on such little airplay! Only XFM and the BBC have been playing it, according to CompareMyRadio, and neither that much. Or has it started picking up airplay somewhere else now?

What the bloody hell are Wheatus doing top 40?
Thought Willow would be Alot higher :(

Wheatus could get top 40 officially :D great to see Wonderman single version climbing, hopefully its close to the top 10 combined

the live version of Someone Like You dropping significantly and Price Tag seems to relatively steady :o

Yeah, I'm also a little bit shocked that the live version of Someone Like You appears to be dropping at a faster rate than the album version of Price Tag. Someone Like You will still win overall, but the live version will be out of the top 40 on iTunes in a couple of weeks at this rate. :drama:

To be honest the live version has exceeded all of my expectations :o and without it SLY wouldnt have made #1 I think.

Considering the performance was mid-feb, and how well the album doing i'm amazed. :w00t:

True. It was good aswell, because I think a lot of people who had the album could contribute sales to the song. And there's probably other people who bought both anyway.

I know it's not a single, but it's a similar principle with singles, in the sense that it's always good when you have a single version of a song that's different to the album version. The most notable example was Gettin' Over You, where the single version was considerably different to the album version, and the song climbed 41-1 when it was released!

Or not only different single versions, but remixes aswell. There's loads of brilliant remixes of songs out there on iTunes which could sell bucketloads if they got promoted.

Hopefully what's happened with Someone Like You could encourage people to promote different versions of their songs. Although I thought what happened with In For the Kill a couple of years ago would've done that too, but not much has really changed. The most we get now is some radio stations playing non-rap versions of songs, which sometimes aren't even up for download anyway (which is stupid, I generally like rapping, but not everybody does, and all they do is lose sales tbh).

EDIT: Sorry that the last 3 paragraphs had basically nothing to do with what you said. I just got a bit carred away.

Hopefully Avril Breaks top 15 by tommorow so she can get an overall top 15 peak, she deserves it.

Nicole Scherzinger - Poison should also re-enter the top 100 along with The Saturdays & Flo Rida - Higher (Official Charts) I mean.
