I have added up the scores of so far and can reveal that 4 songs have gone over 100 points. It's very close at the top as currently Madona and Sinead O'Connor are separated by one point, not telling who's on top however. Partners In Kryme 'Turtle Power' is the current loser on only +10 points. If you want your favourite to be in the final 4 and you haven't voted yet... you know what to do.

 

And btw I haven't yet including Mart!n's votes as he put down The Steve Miller Band 'The Joker' twice, you need to edit your post :)

I still listen to quite a lot of these songs, i do like some of snap's songs but the power was never a huge fave of mine, likewise im a huge kylie fan but tears on pillow isnt one of my favourite kylie singles and she has had so many other singles more deserved of number 1 than it.

As for 'Tears On My Pillow', iirc 'Hangin' Tough' sold about 20k to top the UK chart the previous week so Kylie must've benefitted from a low sales period.

I'm the same with the late 90s. Which I'm very excited to get to in this game, as sad as that might make me sound - although I'll probably be annoyed when certain songs that don't get much airplay these days don't get the votes they deserve because people don't remember them.

 

As for this year, I listen to my top four often. All great songs. Though I was very surprised when I found out a few years ago that A Little Time was a #1 hit. And I was also surprised to learn that Don't Marry Her only got to #8 as it's one of the songs I associate with 1996 from my childhood. But that's going way off-topic!

 

By the way, that reminds me - are you going to be using the same system all the way through? Because by the late 90s ('96 onwards) the number of #1s increases dramatically. Although I suppose that also means there's more songs to potentially dislike, as well. It's going to be hard to vote for only 10 songs though in those years, for me :(

I'm looking forward to the last few years of the 90's too, because I actually remember loving the songs when they came out. I really like a few of the #1s from 1990, but it's not really the same, because I don't remember them when they were new. Songs sort of become like the soundtrack to your life when they're really popular, so when you listen back to them years later you get all the nostalgia, etc. I can get that with some songs from 1997-1999, but not really with the songs from 1990-1992. :lol:

I really like Saviour's Day... When I was younger we bought a compilation of Christmas songs and that was one of them, and we listened to it every Christmas for like 10 years. :lol:

So close yet so far. :( I'd have preferred that getting to #1 over 'The Joker'. I mean, it's alright and everything but hardly a classic. Not even heard the song in years anyways, whilst 'Groove Is In The Heart' still gets played a lot on VH-1 Classic.
