July 1, 201213 yr God im still suprised at the pure hatred for Alexandra! I can't believe her fanbase has vanished just because she appeared 'over confident' on a few TV shows - The album is not the greatest, Its generic dance/pop fodder but that type of music is still successful for many other artists. HOB is now out of the Top 100 and LIG failed to revive after today's performance or the 59p iTunes price tag - Alexandra as iv said many times needs to totally forget this project and work on a killer comeback or risk becoming the new Alesha Dixon
July 2, 201213 yr Apparently their sticking a rent-a-rapper on one of her tracks... PITBULL, R U FREE GURL?
July 2, 201213 yr Apparently their sticking a rent-a-rapper on one of her tracks... PITBULL, R U FREE GURL? It says on Digital Spy that they may be. I'm guessing Flo Rida (as he's big at the moment). I'd like to see Nicki Minaj - that would certainly shift a few singles! I can only imagine a rapper on Between The Sheets or Tonight, the others wouldn't sound right. July 2, 201213 yr I dunno, I'm sort of thinking nobody would touch her with a bargepole now and the budget has gone right down since the days she could get Flo Rida, Pitbull or Ne-Yo on her tracks. It does sadden me though, the album is pretty solid as far as generic dance pop goes and it doesn't deserve to do as bad as it has. :(
July 2, 201213 yr I'm far too pessimistic in general but it'll probably be the awful guy StooShe had on f*** Me back then no one knew who they were, some randomer, I very much doubt she'll get anyone like Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj or Pitbull on board.
July 9, 201213 yr This is such a depressing situation. Back in 2008, she demonstrated on EVERY live show that she was the UK mini Beyonce. She had likeability, dancing ability, stage presence, a ridiculously amazing voice and sex appeal (especially during 'Don't Stop the Music' and 'Candyman'). Some may argue that things only recently started going wrong in her career but I personally think it went wrong ever since 'Bad Boys'. I didn't buy the song. It did extremely well commercially but I wouldn't say its sales reflected its quality. The production was good but the lyrics were too cheesy and alienated half of her audience - same with 'Broken Heels'. The only truly great singles were 'All Night Long' and 'The Silence' (which they messed up with the cheap video). The Overcome styling was also terrible! Alex is stunning when styled at least decently. But the hair, clothes and ridiculous artwork for the albums and singles did her no favours and made her look pretty unattractive - alienating guys even more (and even girls!). 'Start Without You' dented her reputation and officially made her lose a lot of "coolness". Syco weren't the best team, very inefficient, but in hindsight they could have been a lot worse and I think Alex realises this now. This second album was the chance for Alex to right any wrongs from the previous album campaign and get back into Radio 1's good books with edgy pop/R&B music. She could have collaborated with "out there" artists like MIA. Instead she decided to create an album full of 90s dance tracks...WTF? 'Elephant' was a step in the right direction but then the poor marketing lead to Capital refusing to play it and Radio 1 getting on board too late. Alex's biggest mistake was the direction she chose. Did Rico Love even have a single track on HOH? For a whole year I was looking forward to seeing what Alex would come up with - hoping she would out-do her debut - but she's just dug her own grave. Ways she can redeem herself: - Go to America and audition for various labels (Roc Nation, Interscope etc) and make it big there before returning to UK. - Participate on SCD and do an "Alesha" minus the second-chance-of-a-career killer aka 'Drummer Boy'. - Get into contact with Beyonce and beg her for some help. - Get back in touch with Simon and beg for another shot.
July 9, 201213 yr She needs to stop whoring herself up advertising every product going virgin trains etc appearing @ every opening of a crisp packet. Her music isnt bad. Her P.R. is awful. She also needs to stop wearing shorts thighs like Chris Hoy. She is going the way Jamelia did look at her now <_< .
July 9, 201213 yr I think Alexandra's biggest issue is her public image I'm not sure whether she likes dressing as she does or whether it was a label/management decision, but her styling always feels like she's being aimed at guys and personally I don't feel like I can relate to that Her music is decent enough, but she isn't seen as "cool" to like in comparison to other British females such as Jessie J or Rita Ora
July 9, 201213 yr Her styling is aimed at guys? Straight or gay I think everyone found her ugly in the last two videos. Terrible clothes, terrible hair etc. Public image is a problem though, but its her own fault I've never been more annoyed watching someone in an interview, she just rambles on like a childish chav.

July 9, 201213 yr She can look as stunning as this one minute: http://static.taletela.com/media/160212_aburke1a.jpg or http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/29/article-2055023-0E96FF4600000578-265_306x423.jpg But then look as unflattering as this the next: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/images/alexandraburke.jpg or http://image.take40.com/300x400/Alexandra_Burke_promo_silver.jpg Image was also another main problem.
July 9, 201213 yr I guess sometimes in the "good" photo's she has been styled maybe? And the others she has done it herself or in the dark.

It's very subjective though, what some like some others may not, I think she looks nice in the the two promo photo's you just posted (not what she is wearing on the overcome album cover photo though that is pathetic.) It really is all about her public image! Her styling is aimed at guys? Straight or gay I think everyone found her ugly in the last two videos. Terrible clothes, terrible hair etc. Public image is a problem though, but its her own fault I've never been more annoyed watching someone in an interview, she just rambles on like a childish chav. LOL This is the issue. It's her character that grates on people. Edited July 9, 201213 yr by Karma
July 9, 201213 yr Did anyone else see the interview two years ago on chatty man. "Simon told me not to get a dog, well I did, and not just that but it peed on his carpet too" Trying to act all rebellious...she's just a bit much, a bit try hard. Ok dot com.
July 9, 201213 yr Yeah, I think there is a cocktail of reasons to why she's underperforming so much. :( Also, I think a lot of the songs on HOH are average to good which is fine, but it is so dance heavy with one ballad stuck on the end. I think if you have an audience as wide as Alex did, then you need to try and cater for them and not go down a route that might alienate two thirds of them. An album with some acoustic performances, some ballads, some dance/club music and some cheesy pop songs may be a bit mismatched but I don't think that would be an issue as long as there is a strong underlying theme running through most of the songs. Also, autotune is not looked on well by the public in the UK IMO and so for her to comeback with a song completely covered in autotune is going to put a few more people off too. However, despite her public image and music direction, I think with a voice like hers, she could easily build it up again and get a good profile. She just needs to take a back step and look at what's going wrong... It would be a great shame if we lost the presence of her amazing voice in the music industry. She just doesn't showcase it as well as she has done.
July 9, 201213 yr I think she needs to re-release it in November time tbh, re-record better matertial and pray that she gets a VITAL xFactor performance. It's a shame when British artists are flopping tbh, BRITISH POWER. Edited July 9, 201213 yr by LeeWallaceee
July 13, 201213 yr I was thinking, 'Between The Sheets' could save this era. It's one of the only songs that sounds similar to her 'Overcome' material. If she makes a single mix which has a duet with a male singer rather than rapper she could get a hit. (Hopefully someone like Bruno Mars or Ne-Yo would still be willing to work with her).
July 13, 201213 yr Nothing can save this era...especially not the average Between The Sheets...and she had only parted way with management hasn't she?
