May 23, 201114 yr Author Thank You. :) I think she will be #1 again in the following months of this year, and maybe even the next with the Grammys and Brits which she's almost certain to win, and maybe a deluxe? and the release of Set Fire To The Rain and hopefully Turning Tables, and X Factor performance, maybe Britains Got Talent etc all the big big shows.

May 23, 201114 yr Author Don't bank on a deluxe edition. Adele has said in this month's Q magazine that she hates deluxe editions, and she was furious when they did one for '19' Hmm, so '19' got one, '21' might too. We'll see. For me, i think they should just leave it as it is unless they got some really amazing songs to put on the deluxe. It'll sell without the deluxe for a long long time.
May 23, 201114 yr Hmm, so '19' got one, '21' might too. We'll see. For me, i think they should just leave it as it is unless they got some really amazing songs to put on the deluxe. It'll sell without the deluxe for a long long time. If they've got some really amazing songs, why not just put them on the next album? There are recordings like the Brits performance of Someone Like You which would fit more logically on a deluxe edition but the rest should be on 23, 24 or whatever it ends up being called. Otherwise the "deluxe edition" becomes yet another rip-off.
May 23, 201114 yr 'deluxe editions' are just cheap rip-offs designed to get a few extra cash imo, its so pointless buying the whole album again just to get a few extra tracks- I would feel pretty cheated if I was a fan of an artist, I hate when any artist releases them, and I hope Adele doesn't (its not like she needs it!)
May 23, 201114 yr i dont mind it when they rerelease as long as their is an EP for people already with that album. However 'Bright Lights' is one of the few that is perfectly justified, and saved Ellie's career.

However 'Bright Lights' is one of the few that is perfectly justified, and saved Ellie's career. Bright Lights or The Fame Monster are justified because there's two thirds of a new album on there. I waited for the former instead of buying Lights, as I think a lot of others did.
May 23, 201114 yr yep, I did that as well- even if an act I really liked did it, I still wouldn't buy both
May 23, 201114 yr Bright Lights or The Fame Monster are justified because there's two thirds of a new album on there. I waited for the former instead of buying Lights, as I think a lot of others did. But they could still wait longer and release a new album.
May 23, 201114 yr Author Deluxe editions are misunderstood imo. -_- Its to appeal to NEW fans, a deluxe is released for people who havent already bought the album and with a new lead single, and few extra songs its meant too appeal to new people, not for the same millions of fans who have already bought the album to buy the whole album again! Its your decision if you buy the album, its not exactly exploting anyone, it just acts as extra promotion and shows the album in a new light. Dont get the hate really  Anyway 16 weeks so far, wont be #1 for a while now as sales are decreasing and Gaga is out, but it'll add to that total in the future i'm sure. :D Edited May 23, 201114 yr by Karma
May 23, 201114 yr ^ Or it can be said deluxe edition is for the record label to make money and put out 1-3 new songs lol. 16 weeks for #1 for Adele for me :)
May 23, 201114 yr ^ Or it can be said deluxe edition is for the record label to make money and put out 1-3 new songs lol. 16 weeks for #1 for Adele for me :) exactly, adding a few new tracks that could easily be added on to their next album and re-issuing the whole thing is just a way of making more money
July 23, 201113 yr Author Wow so '21' went back to #1 on Sunday and looks likely to get another week at #1 tomorrow. So 18 weeks in total? Havent seen anything like this before. :w00t: Outstanding!
July 23, 201113 yr But they could still wait longer and release a new album. Not will Ellie. Lights wasnt doing fantastically as many people were waiting for Bright Lights. The songs she put on there fitted perfectly in with the Lights Album, and with her second album she said she was going to move away from folktronica slightly so those songs would have been just out of place. As for GaGa, I dont know, i dont have her albums.

I agree with you about deluxe editions. I only ever buy them when I don't already have the originals. It's even worse when there are, say 6-8 new tracks - it means too little extra to justify re-buying the whole thing, but enough to make cherry-picking each track nearly as expensive as re-buying it. :( Also - what about 'Greatest Hits' albums with just one or two new tracks on - they seem particularly pointless, as they are just beggining to be cherry-picked... July 23, 201113 yr I have a feeling 21 will, appropriately, spend 21 weeks at #1 - it has an 18th week sorted tomorrow then I can see it holding for the next three weeks then being knocked off by Nero (whose sales I think will be strong enough to depose Adele, but she'll still be #2 to make 30 consecutive top 2 weeks) Although the week after that she could very well return to #1 yet again unless Will Young has a big album or Nero can hold on. A 31st consecutive top 2 week is definitely a possibility too (although it could be #3 behind both Will and Nero, possibly lower if Hard-Fi and/or Wretch 32 have big albums which I don't think they will). The week after that the top 2 is pretty much sorted as Red Hot Chili Peppers and David Guetta though, so 31 will be the limit for consecutive top 2 weeks. But it could always climb back again later :kink: Edited July 23, 201113 yr by Bré
July 23, 201113 yr Yeah, surely if an artists releases a new edition of an album with like 2 or 3 new songs, you just cherrypick them (if you even like the songs)?
