If Unorthodox is top 300 already, that would increase its chances of number 1 - I don't think Traktor had a fake version ever charting

Apparently Alexandra Burke's new single will be out in April - so within a month. :o

It won't go to #1 though, because it's going to have to be on air-on sale because of her record label.

She needs to have an AMAZING single - If 'Start Without You' came out as part of the on-air, on-sale system, it would've only got top 15, maybe 10... It only really started to get promotion a week or two before it was released...

Yeah, Start Without You would never have got to #1. Bad Boys and Hallelujah still would've done, but Hallelujah was an X Factor song, and Bad Boys was her "first" single, which would've gone to #1 easily even if nobody had heard the song before (a la Born This Way).

I'm not sure she can ever get a #1 ever again tbh, unless she can re-accumulate a bigger fanbase over time.

Start Without You is a fantastic song though. Uttely brilliant, especially the rap verse. Fully deserved #1, no matter what it's total sales and chart run were. And all the controversy about it getting #1 was just hilarious tbh.

^ what controversy? it was a fairly predictable number 1 judging from the midweeks, that didn't have a lot of competition

It was controversial because it was $h!t.

What Bray said. Except it was good, but some deluded people thought it was terrible.

On Twitter after it was announced as the #1, some of the presenters from Radio 1 were whining about it. And they were accusing people of buying the song because they "adore" Alexandra, not because they like the song.

And then on the Monday, I think, Chris Moyles said on the radio that "there's no way it'll get 2 weeks at #1", and it did!! Ouch for him.

To be honest, I think Radio 1 were just bitter because they didn't playlist it. None of the other radio stations seemed to get so worked up about it getting to #1.

Here's a discussion about the Chris Moyles "I hate Start Without You" rant on Radio 1. http://www.popjustice.com/newforum/index.p...23447.2430;wap2

oh yeah, Radio 1 snubbed it- but then again, its her so they would :P it was amusing to see them go all quiet on the Chris Moyles show when they announced the chart though

 It was just so ridiculous tbh. I never thought a bunch of grown men could get so worked up about a song being #1!! And they didn't even really try to hide it either! :o

but maybe as it will be a new single from a new album it will do quite well? all night long peaked at #4 and that was the third single. i know it wasn't on air/on sale but still...

and is it confirmed it will be on air/on sale?

J-Lo #1 for a few weeks then with a big lead!

^ I think she's on one of those record labels that said they're going to do it with every single song.
To be honest, I think it is a stupid idea, especially for artists with smaller fan bases :/

Yeah. It's okay, since JLS, Dizzee Rascal and Cheryl Cole will always get #1s still. Not quite so good for the likes of Alexandra Burke and Diana Vickers.

To be honest, doing on air-on sale hinders British artists in general. In 2010, these are the songs climbed to #1:

Bad Romance - American

Fireflies - American

Telephone - American

OMG - American

Gettin' Over You - Sort of American (Fergie and LMFAO). David Guetta is European, I think. But anyway, not British. And kind of debuted at #1 anyway.

Airplanes - American

We No Speak Americano - Australian, I think? Definitely not British, anyway.

Club Can't Handle Me - American

Just the Way You Are - American

Only Girl - American

The Time - American

And songs that debuted at #1, and spent 10 or less weeks in the top 40:

Everybody Hurts - British

This Ain't a Love Song - British

Once - British

Good Times - British

Dirtee Disco - British

Shout - British

The Club is Alive - British

Beautiful Monster - American

Green Light - British

Please Don't Let Me Go - British

Start Without You - British

Promise This - British

Love You More - British

Heroes - British

When We Collide - British

So yeah, I think we get the picture. More American #1s, and less British #1s. The only of the songs above that I think could've got #1 if they were available straight-away are Everybody Hurts, The Club is Alive, Please Don't Let Me Go, Love You More, Heroes and When We Collide.

Although Price Tag and Someone Like You both got to #1. Although Price Tag had actually been getting airplay since 2010 to be fair, and Someone Like You isn't a normal song.

Is it like a policy now for those labels, or is can they change their minds depending on the song?

LOL.

" I never thought a bunch of grown men could get so worked up about a song being #1"

What about this forum every week?

Stop with the 'Start Without You' hate! :( It's excellent and I'm starting to get back into it a bit (much like 'All Night Long') thanks to the sunny/warm weather we had recently!

Well, Taio Cruz's massive fanbase have almost got the song into the top 700!!! :w00t: It is funny how he seems to have no fans, yet he has such big songs. I guess that's why his albums don't sell much either.

Onto his music, yes, I really don't like many of his songs 2009-ownwards. :( Take Me Back was amazing, Shine a Light is really, really boring, Second Chance was okay, Higher is boring, but is much better with Kylie and Travie, Dirty Picture is incredible, No Other One is very good, Dynamite is okay-ish, Break Your Heart is boring, but a bit better with Ludacris. Some of his songs are really, really generic though, and a lot of them sound the same (a bit like the male version of Lady Gaga, at least for me).

So yeah, I don't expect much from the song. I think I already know what it sounds like.

Woo. A Taio Cruz singles rate! I do LOVE Taio

08.0 'I Just Wanna Know'

08.5 'Moving On'

10.0 'Come On Girl' (featuring. Luciana) <----- Taio's best song.

09.0 'I Can Be'

09.0 'She's Like A Star'

10.0 'Take Me Back' (w. Tinchy Stryder) <----- Tinchy's best song

09.5 'Break Your Heart'

07.5 'No Other One'

09.0 'Dirty Picture' (featuring. Ke-Dollar Sign-Ha)

10.0 'Dynamite'

08.5 'Second Chance' (w. Tinchy Stryder)

09.0 'Shine A Light' (w. McFly)

09.0 'Higher' (featuring. Kylie Minogue & Travie McCoy)

08.0 'Telling the World'

[/loon]

You're right about 'Telling the World', but I still really like it  Not heard it before now though so maybe it'll grow on me.

GO JLO LOL!!! I used to love her then thought during her flopfest era 2005-2010 she was total sh*t and needed to let it go, but WOULDNT LOL! Now shes exceeding EVERYone lol. Gaga included!! Never ever thought a few months ago Id be saying those words lolol
