Was it a dance song or a hip hop song? The two songs are very different, the only thing they have in common is the lyrics.

Okay, I've just checked. It was the Let the Bass Kick... version.

There are so many versions of it though! I even found a version with Pitbull rapping on it on youtube. And another version remixed by David Guetta.

Not surprised that Party Rock Anthem is doing so well. It's all over the music channels

Gold Forever up to #5 again! Wow, they're having amazing longevity!! :o

Amazing longevity ? :???:

The songs been out for less than 2 weeks

I'm quite astounded (as much as I love Friday) at how the hell Rebecca Black is doing well on iTunes, given the like-dislike proportion on YT!

Yeah, same here. I honestly thought more people would like it. Some people are getting really worked up about it, evidently.

I hope Rebecca is okay. :( At least Lady Gaga and Chris Brown like the song.

She is apparently being bullied in school because of it and has recieved death threats. She honestly doesn't deserve that, its not her fault, she is only having a bit of fun & the song is actually so bad its good. And she has said that any proceeds that comes from 'Friday', will go to Japan.

That's so pathetic. :( It's just a song. I can't see how people can have so much hatred for it. It makes me laugh, I find it hilarious! It's cringe-worthy at most imo.

I can't understand how those people are sane, exactly. What, do they watch the video, and then think "Now I'll send Rebecca Black a death threat"? What silly people. :(

I still can't believe it's not a joke though. Were the people that wrote the lyrics not aware of how ridiculous is was to that she couldn't decide which seat to sit in? Like was the rapper not aware that his rap contained almost no rhyming, making it officially one of the worst raps in mainstream music in years? Were they not expecting lyrics such as "Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!" to cause a stir?

That said, it's just a song. Nobody needs to get angry about it. I hope people can just be calm and be entertained by the performance, or not watch it if they don't want to like it. I'm glad for those other artists standing up for her. Hopefully their fans heed the advice, and other artists follow suit.

Also, talking about Japan, I've been seeing in the news the past few days that Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, and like a million other people are releasing a joing album for Japan. And now on Billboard's website they've got the tracklisting for it: http://www.billboard.com/news/adele-eminem...005094252.story

which is why this horrible thing should never have happened in the first place- this poor girl will always be ridiculed for this, far from being a 'star' more a 'one off' and her childhood be pretty much be ruined in that sense, I do feel for her- honestly

Yeah, I feel so bad for her too. :( She seems like such a kind person aswell.

To be fair though, I highly doubt they expected this to happen. I think it was just supposed to be the same as their other songs. Just some low-key song, that's just, like, there, and does nothing. I don't think they'd've done it if they knew this would happen. Maybe the people behind the scenes who nobody knows would've still done it, but I doubt Rebecca would've done. :(

She's been signed to a proper record label now though, apparently! :o

Well, given that even a million-selling single will be liked by less than 2% of the population... :P

I think a million-seller would be liked than more than 2% of the population. There's those people that "like" the song, but they don't like it enough to buy it. Then there's those people that simply never buy music, or they illegally obtain songs. Then there's those people who have the song via an album of some sort.

It probably varies from million-seller to million-seller, but I think it'd be more like 10%, although there are a few million-sellers that do seem to be universally liked by nearly everybody, although I don't think the people I hang out with is representative of the population as a whole.

No not 2% of the population, 2% of people who legally buy music, which is probably about 10% of the population, pretty much everyone illegally downloads, so such a huge single selling that amount legally, i cant imagine how many people actually have downloaded it (illegally too) must be huge.

Well, the proportions will vary a lot between artists and songs aswell. An Eminem album would get illegally downloaded a LOT more than an Adele album, for example.

Well we can only assume that.
