When they confirmed. I'm glad they went without in all honesty - we've had enough trouble with confusing close-enough names in the past!
When spelt out it was a big difference given that their S was Scottish rather than Scandinavian, but i can see how easy it is to confuse in the short hand if you only catch the FSR
To be honest, the whole entire contest could be run anonymously and it wouldn't change a thing to me. I don't think "oh, this is GD's entry so he gets my top marks" and that's without listening to the song. Otherwise it becomes a faux-popularity contest rather than a song contest (I'm not saying that's how people vote ;) ).

All I mean is that even with seeing the countries names, I judge each song on its own merit - if I like the song, well done to whoever sent it. If I don't, tough $h!t.

Exactly the same way I do it as well but it's just nice to see who is who.

I've been here since day 0 and have never let who the person behind the country is influence my votes in the slightest.

Despite many allegations that the FSR Ashvia voting bloc is me gifting points each contest to Rich it's nothing more sinister than a very similar music taste and lots of pre-contest communication as we both trust and respect the others opinion. While we rarely send something the other doesn't like, it does happen occasionally and on those rare occasions there is nil points given [see BJSC III, XIV and XXXII for example]

When did Farahtyn drop the FSR?

After the cival war in the country. No one thought that a flag design might be a good thing after a cival war. I think the full title of the country was orignaly The Former Scottish Republic Farahtyn Land. The name is aparntly shrinking as time passes....

FSR Rontvia will never officially lose its FSR, even if it is referred to as just 'Rontvia' by many, including me sometimes.

@Silas - exactly, I would never vote based on the person either, you just have to look at some of the random nations I've handed out 12's to as proof. I don't actually think I've 'disliked' a single entry of yours Phil, but I didn't feel that the Lily track was quite strong enough to be in my top ten of that contest and the only other one I wouldn't have voted for (Riverside) wasn't in my semi and failed to qualify anyway. Although we communciated our entries via PM this month, neither of us has actually sent the track we were discussing  Mine was a last minute change as I suddenly got tragically bored of the song I'd confirmed :drama:

Indeed! I had a realisation that instead of sending one of a collection of good tracks i should just send Molly again as I was re-discovering The Sandén after a period of giving her very few listens and was more in love with Det Ar Inte Jag than anything else i was considering

I've only ever disliked the two. I have never voted for something I didn't like just because you sent it and never will. FSR Rontvia is certainly not immune to 'had this clicked two weeks ago during the contest it would have gotten a 12 instead of a 3' [Oh hai M.A.G.I.C]

Quite a few of your entries have continued to grow on me after the contest (Alone was definitely one, I think I gave it 1 point ). The entry I last remember sailing close to not getting anything from me was Cinderella Theory - I actually loved that song but I recall the contest being ridiculously strong (imo) and I couldn't give it more than a couple of points :(

As a side note, I've got round to listening to semi 2 now, am about halfway through (listening in random order) and still waiting to hear something more than 'quite nice' :drama: Can I just give more songs in Semi 1 points instead? :P I don't even know how to start thinking about voting in that one!

I shall send my votes tomorrow once I've listened again and finalised them! But I've now heard everything and I can say that what will be my 8 pointer from Semi 2 wouldn't even feature in my votes in Semi 1 :drama: I feel awful not giving two songs in Semi 1 anything at all, whereas I could happily only give points to 5 or 6 songs from Semi 2!
Listened to Sf1 and will be getting my votes in ASAP!

Just realised nobody sent Sound Of Arrows - Nova. WHY? :o

(And I heard it on Radio 2 this morning! Get that top 300 SMASH boys :funky:)

PRJ's entrant was born exactly 2 weeks before me :o [and 16 days before Pavel]

French Eurovision 2011 entrant was born 18 days before me. :o JUNE FUCKING RULES.

Indeed it does! Rafi Gavron [who played Dev, the Gay band member, in Nick and Nora's Infinate Playlist] was born on the exact same day as me.

June 89 is clearly where it's at.

I was tempted, and though it's utterly fantastic I thought it would come off a little uninspired to send the same act two singles in a row when I didn't think the second single was as good as the first. If there's anything that tops Into The Clouds on the album it's pretty much guaranteed I'll attempt to send it

Have you got my votes? I sent them a couple of days ago, but even after you've updated the list, it appears that we haven't voted?

I'm stealing the idea and doing this thing too :w00t:

Semifinal I.

10/10 - STUNNING. LET'S FUCKING VOGUE THIS PARTICULAR PART OF THE BODY.

10/10 - Entered again, still stunning. :o

10/10 - Gorgeous.

9.5/10 - Dark, enchanting, great. Another song i already heard before the contest. XXXIII is going for a record of most songs known prior to the contest! Whole 6 songs! :o

9/10 - Reminds me of the certain ginger female popular in Britain voice-wise :kink:

9/10 - The bitch/motherfucker/group of motherfuckers still got it.

9/10 - Mesmerising beat. Faux Eastern European vocals bits are wonderful too. The whole thing works so well.

8/10 - Robyn wibe all over the song. Only lyrics are pretty poor.

8/10 - Catchy, generic, a bit dated. Quite a mix.

7.5/10 - Good song, very Serbia 2011 :kink:

7.5/10 - Typical song for this genre. And that is disappointing.

7.5/10 - This song's genericness is actually its strongest side! :o

7/10 - Generic and boring. Have nothing else to say about it.

7/10 - Are/Is they/he/she some kind of new potentially big thing right now? Because i don't see why. The intro was pretty great though.

7/10 - IF ONLY THERE WERE ACCORDION SOUNDS IN IT :'(

6.5/10 - Music is quite good but the rest is awful.

6/10 - Entered again, with much poorer effort this time. :o

3/10 - Now that is some HORSE SHIT. The particular music bits in the chorus earned that 3 though. Awful song besides that.

0/10 - OMG this is TERRIBLE.

MINUS ONE/10 - Repugnant slut. Never even listened to the song... Well I'm lying, I did, as i'd sound so biased otherwise. :kink:

All ties are in random order.

Pretty average quality, two of the 10/10's are extremely borderline. :( And the three bottom songs are just hilariously bad. HINT: Countries i usually vote for are not there, or they are. HMMMMM.

Now all we need is AaronTM to decipher all this. I'm sure he'll do it in like 3 seconds, half of these clues is so obvious :o

These comments always make me paranoid. I could easily be 0/10, or 8/10 as I'd say 'catchy, generic' suits my entry. But Pavel, how does 'boring, nothing else to say about it' = 7/10?
