Posted April 18, 201115 yr Adele heading back to number one 12:38 | Tuesday April 19, 2011 By Paul Williams Source: MW Singles Little more than 2,500 sales separate first and second place in the singles market with Intercsope/Polydor’s Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO/Lauren Bennett/Goon Rock, which climbed to number one last Sunday, currently being outsold by the newly-issued Unorthodox by Levels/Ministry of Sound’s Wretch 32 featuring Example. The new series of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent is already having a significant effect on the singles chart with Elektra/Atlantic’s 1988 Tracy Chapman hit Fast Car showing up in fourth place thanks to it being covered by contestant Michael Collings on last Saturday’s show. Based on just a few hours’ sales after the programme was screened four days ago, Chapman’s original re-entered the Top 75 last Sunday at 58. Interscope/Polydor’s Lady GaGa had the benefit of just a couple of days’ of sales on last week’s chart with her new single Judas, which debuted in 14th position following a Friday release. In its first full week available it is ranked sixth for the week so far. But another “on air/on sale” track, Domino act the Arctic Monkeys’ Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair, which was released last week like Judas to coincide with its radio debut, is already in decline. It is the 41st top seller at this point in the week, having entered at 28 in last week’s final chart. Above the Arctic Monkeys are three newly-issued singles: Starboy Nathan’s Diamonds, released through Mona Publishing Vibes Corner, Mud Hut’s Sammy King with Penny Arcade and Geffen/Polydor act Twenty Twenty with Love To Life. Albums Normal service is likely to be resumed at the top of the UK artist albums chart this weekend with Adele’s 21 heading back to number one after a week’s absence. The XL album was replaced at number one last Sunday after an 11-week run by Columbia-handled The Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light. However, the Adele album has now opened a lead of around 9,000 sales over Wasting Light, according to OCC Data. Adele’s first album 19 is in third place for the week for far ahead of new entries from Parlophone’s Gorillaz (The Fall) and Candent Songs/Polydor’s Jamie Woon with his debut offering Mirrorwriting in fourth and fifth places. There is also another release showing up in the Top 10 places with Jive act Chipmunk’s Transition in eighth position. A busy week for new releases is emphasised by another eight brand new albums registering in the Top 40 positions at this stage of the week, led in 12th position by Whitesnake’s comeback album Forevermore. The Frontiers-issued album is joined by new releases from Geffen/Polydor’s Guillemots, Transmission’s King Blues, Sony’s first album with a new Mike & The Mechanics line-up, Nonesuch/Warner Bros’s kd Lang, a new UMTV set from James Last, Bella Union’s Explosions In The Sky and a Capitol/Parlophone album from Snoop Dogg. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 Wretch 32 ft. April 18, 201115 yr Author PLEASE READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING [01] Any member that is caught spamming, or trying to cause an argument to get a reaction will be severely warned with a ban for 7 days from posting on the forum. [02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute. [03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away. [04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard. [05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude. [06] Do not use Text Talk. [07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision. [08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see. [09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures. [10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.
April 19, 201115 yr Potential climber = Rihanna - I wouldn't say so myself, it'll fall out of the top 10. Don't mind whether LMFAO or Wretch 32 get the number-one spot, obviously it'd be nice to the latter to get himself a number-one (and Example for that matter) but having a song stay at number-one for longer than a week is something we should embrace before Summer. Hoping to see Britney and Nicki climb and then entries from Bruno Mars and Jessie J no doubt. Wonder whether Chipmunk's 'In the Air' can get a top 35 placement, it's #40 on iTunes.
April 19, 201115 yr Don't think Rihanna will climb. It will be a straight fight between LMFAO and Wretch 32 ft Example.
April 19, 201115 yr Expected to see Foos fall but hopefully they can stay ahead of 19 all week. It'd be a joke if they can't
April 19, 201115 yr What??? Wretch 32? Did he have an physical release? Oh yeah the 12 inch vinyl for this single was released yesterday
April 19, 201115 yr Singles chart is missing iTunes data I think; a lot of those positions look odd ...
April 19, 201115 yr Good to see Fast Car at number 4, hope it can stay top 5 for the week. Poor Gaga :yahoo:
April 19, 201115 yr Post edited and further posts will be deleted unless they are i. sane; ii. comprehensible; and iii. not antagonistic. Regards Spiidey
