April 19, 201115 yr "Fast Car" isn't a country song at all. :manson: Fast Car country? I love country, and country is the likes of Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum and Dolly Parton - not Tracy Chapman! :hithead: Got my facts wrong. But my point was the song isn't like anything else in the chart, it isn't exactly "pop" or "rock" is it? (not by todays definitions anyway)
April 19, 201115 yr I think Wretch has an EP thats doing well in the album chart as well as physicals- couple that with the fact he's not far away from number 1 in the singles chart and that would put him ahead, he won't stay there though unless he overtakes on Itunes I think Fast Car could genuinely be another case of MYFML, its still selling well on Itunes :o could get a new peak as well
April 19, 201115 yr I think Fast Car could genuinely be another case of MYFML, its still selling well on Itunes :o could get a new peak as well This, at the start of the week I thought it would drop down like "Stay", but this should stick around in the charts a lot, hopefully someone else will perform it so it has success. The top 100 downloads of all time will have another old song by the end of the year :D
April 19, 201115 yr From the Twitter of the Official Charts (if it's not already in here somewhere): OfficialCharts Official Charts Fastest selling albums to 2m sales: 1. Robson & Jerome (48 days) 2. Dido / Adele (87 days) 3. Beatles - 1 (97 days) 1 hour ago
April 19, 201115 yr Author Jamie Woon's album not top 40 then? :( Buy a pair of glasses from http://www.festivalplace.co.uk/images/retailer_logo/_resizes/Specsavers_thumb.gif :P
April 19, 201115 yr Oh sorry I automatically didn't look at the top 5 as I didn't think it'd be there
April 19, 201115 yr Great to see Jamie Woon top 5 - if he holds it I think he'll be the first Sound of 2011 act to get a top 5 album? Just realised Depeche Mode aren't top 40 with the re-release of Personal Jesus. They got top 40 on the first mids with their last single 'Peace' which ended up charting at #57 so this could end up only going low top 100 :( I wonder if we'll ever see Depeche get a proper hit again? I suspect they'll keep making the top 40 with lead singles from any further studio albums they release but other than that they're pretty much doomed now.
April 19, 201115 yr Great to see Jamie Woon top 5 - if he holds it I think he'll be the first Sound of 2011 act to get a top 5 album? em, Jessie J? shame about Depeche Mode :( Edited April 19, 201115 yr by chart wizard
April 19, 201115 yr Sound Of 2011 Artists Albums: As you know for Jessie J James Blake: James Blake reached No9 The Vaccines/ What Did You Expect From The Vaccines reached No4 Clare Maguire/ Light After Dark reached No7
April 19, 201115 yr Oh yeah, I forgot about Jessie J. :drama: I never think of her as a Sound of 2011 artist as she's been so much more successful than all the rest and I think of So'11 being full of flops :kink: Forgot about The Vaccines as well, when I wrote that I thought their album had peaked at #6 for some reason. Still, the third So'11 artist to get a top 5 album :P Following the near misses from Clare Maguire and James Blake
April 19, 201115 yr What do you think has the best of the Sound of...... year to have produced successful artists?
April 19, 201115 yr If I worked for the Marketing department for Tracy Chapman's record company (and God forbid, some day I might do), at this moment I would be dusting off the advert for her greatest hits collection and getting it played as often as they can during prime-time ITV.
April 19, 201115 yr What do you think has the best of the Sound of...... year to have produced successful artists? 2004. Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters and Razorlight, and to a lesser extent McFly, Wiley, Joss Stone have all had varying degrees of international success (although the less said about numbers 9&10, Tali and Gemma Fox the better)
April 19, 201115 yr 2004. Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters and Razorlight, and to a lesser extent McFly, Wiley, Joss Stone have all had varying degrees of international success (although the less said about numbers 9&10, Tali and Gemma Fox the better) :o They all came from Sound Of Poll. They in bold all have great songs, 'Take Me Out' by Franz is a modern classic and so is "I Don't Feel Like Dancin" by Scissor Sisters and "Somewhere Else" by Razorlight imo. Wiley only has 1 great song which is "Wearing My Rolex" Edited April 19, 201115 yr by danielGaGa
April 19, 201115 yr ^ Wiley is in Roll Deep though, so really he has like 4 good songs (and probably more that I haven't heard). EDIT: He did Never Be Your Woman didn't he? The one which sampled that really famous song. I used to love that, so make that 5 good songs. Edited April 19, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob
April 19, 201115 yr I think there must be an Itunes mix up tbh. Emily Osment should have been top 40? and jessie J price tag should be around 16-20 it's dropping on itunes.
