I'm actually fed up now - BTW is not a flop! I don't think Judas will flop in the long run either. Compared to the likes of Just Dance, Bad Romance, Telephone and Pokerface, yes it has done disapointingly but compare it to most other songs and BTW has done very well. She's just had a bit of a case of the sophomore slump, but as seen in Leona that doesn't equal a flop! BTW will probs go double platinum (a la Echo) at least. Judas may miss top 3 but tbh it's still doing well. A flop is something by a big artist that fails to reach top 10/20 when it's expected to do much better! Sorry to sound a total loon, but I just had to make the point. And just cause I am a Gaga loon doesn't mean I'm biased, I just had to make the point!

Also BTW is about to notch up its 11th week in the Top 20, which is impressive by anyone's standards. Overall it's performance has been not spectacular - perhaps a little disappointing, but not terrible. I think a sense of perspective is important.

In other news, Fast Car back up to 3! That wasn't meant to happen - is this some kind of evening youtube/BGT effect? Incredible.

Fast Car is starting to worry me now. While it's better, I really don't want another MYFML. It's also continuing to amaze me. 1 performance on Britain's Got Talent got this. That and a bit of the top 10 effect, but still... :o
Twenty Twenty down to #64. I thought they were top 40 contenders 2 days ago.

there is NO way if Gaga 1st two singles from this era were here 1st two singles ever as a new artist they wouldnt have even gone top 40 lol

Why not? Look at Jessie J with the polarising "Do It Like A Dude".

I see Kanye is back up to #12 - Adele is really far ahead at #11 but still, this is really frustrating to see it being so close for so long but never quite making it to the top 10

SLY is actually holding up pretty well (given it's getting absolutely tons of airplay that's hardly surprising though :P), I'm pretty sure it was just unlucky that a whole bunch of new songs happened to show up just as it was falling. Wouldn't be surprised to see it back in the top 10 by the end of the week, especially if GaGa's video doesn't turn up.

Also:

65. Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club :D Really pleased to see this doing fairly well second time around. Hope it can somehow crack the top 40 in the next couple of weeks.

I don't think Someone Like You really needs to go back in the top 10.

I'd love Kanye to get up to #11 so when something falls out of the top 10 it can finally get in, although there's a massive gab between him and Adele, then another massive gap between Adele and the top 10, so it's unlikely, unless Fast Car suddenly goes into free-fall.

Well, we should be seeing some new (well, 3 months old but new in terms of hasn't charted before) Adele material somewhere in the top 100 in about 2 weeks' time. And for absolutely the worst possible reason.

Well, second worst I suppose. Unless Adele does suddenly drop dead in 2 weeks.

I don't quite understand... Do you mean Set Fire to the Rain? Although I think that's already charted, and I don't think increasing radio airplay is the "worst possible reason".

Are Radio 2 going to playlist one of her album tracks or something?

I think he means Turning Tables which is used in Glee - the glee version is number 20 on Us iTunes

I think we've established that the 'on air/on sale' scheme doesn't work in the UK
On air on sale has only worked for Jessie J's Price Tag :( I'm glad it did for that song though  Gaga did fairly well with BTW too!

True - but I would hate going back to waiting 6 weeks for a single. On air on sale doesn't work except for Jessie J. If Chipmunk was held back, his new single would be top ten right now. A song should have a radio premiere, then a 3/4 week wait, (or less if there is a lot of popular demand for it) as airplay builds up - "Grenade" and "On The Floor" are big examples of how waiting can work and get big sales. :winner:

It's also worked for Noah And The Whale's L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.. I don't think that would have got 3 months top 40 if it had been a held-back release :P

There have still only been a handful of OA/OS releases, I think it will start looking like it's 'working' a bit more when/if it becomes the predominant method of release.

Even though it's always been claimed as 'on air/on sale' it wasn't really as it was being played on radio for about a month before!

Fast Car will probably drop down the chart gradully after it enters the chart

And then re-climb to the top ten every time it's performed on BGT, and spend forever in the top 40, and then an x factor contestant will perform it

It was only number 800something on airplay the week of release so it didn't get much play, I read an article on it so Price Tag has deffo been a sucsess of the scheme!

Sadly if on air on sale didn't exist, Britney would've had two UK top 5s (at least) with "Hold It Against Me" & "Till The World Ends". I'm sure of it!
