'Yeah 3x' and 'Eyes Wide Shut' both sampled I'm Not Alone :P

Oh yeah! That was an obvious one.

I also thought maybe OMG and Gettin' Over You, which sampled Boom Boom Pow. I'm not sure if they were in the chart together, but OMG spent forever in there, so they probably were at some point.

Also Look For Me by Chipmunk and I Gotta Feeling, which both sampled/sounded like Love is Gone by David Guetta.

This song has the same beat as Beyonce's new song:

It's actually because they both sample the same song. :D But I was thinking, I know Diddy's song isn't really in the charts, but when was the last time 2 songs were in the chart together that both sampled the same song (if that makes sense)?

Also, I've just listened to Beyonce's song. I quite like it. I agree that it's a grower. Even before I finished listening to the song the first time I could already hear it growing on me. There's other songs which sound amazing at the beginning but you get a bit bored about 2 minutes through, but this was the other way round.

I can't believe I didn't notice the sample on that Diddy dirty money song, I think because Beyonce sample is more obvious slightly but interesting when samples are used twice over by different artists for different songs.

Yeah, I always find it interesting. Especially since they can sound extremely different using a similar sample. And yeah, the Beyonce sample is more obvious, I think because it keeps "that instrument" from the original (you know the one I mean ), whilst Diddy's doesn't.

I think the main give-away with DDM's song is that the title of it, "Ass on the Floor", is partly serving as a reference to the song it sampled, I believe.

Another thing I always love is sample trails, like where song B samples song A, then song C samples song B, then song D samples song C and so on.

Didn't that happen with Rihanna's 'Don't Stop The Music', which sampled Michael Jackson's 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'', which sampled another song (which I can't remember )

I love that too! :D

Maybe, I'll have to look it up. It happens a LOT in urban music though. Hard also sampled a Michael Jackson song, I think.

One of my favourites is:

This May Be the Last Time by The Staple Singers (1955)

The Last Time by The Rolling Stones (1965)

Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve (1997)

Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo (2010)

The only reason I like this one is because Ridin' Solo is one of my favourite songs. Such an anthemic and euphoric song imo. Makes me so happy.

Hmmm, not even sure Beyoncé can go top 15 now. It's not climbing *that* quickly. I revise my prediction to low top 20/high 20s.

What is this mess? Wow, the new Beyonce single really is rubbish compared to every single released from 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'.

What about Diva?

Really can't Bey's top 15 already tbh, I underestimated her! :o I love Girls, but I didn't think it was commercial enough to get off to a great start like this!
What about Diva?

Oh, I'd forgotton that mess altogether. Thanks for reminding me. :drama: This type of "RnB" just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. I'm literally wondering where the song is?

I hope it's not worse than IA...SF, because all of IA...SF's singles were horrendous except Sweet Dreams.

It pains me to say Diva is actually my second favourite of the singles from IA...SF. :(

I'm guessing you don't enjoy the likes of Beep, My Humps, etc. either then?

I love songs like that tbh. Sometimes percussion and a good flow in the vocals are all you need to make a song catchy and dance-able, at least for me. :D

You know me so well. I'm honoured. :P

Although interestingly, I did like 'Boom Boom Pow' but it was heavily thanks to the breakdown and the techno(ish) second half. The first half sounded like an early demo, imo, rather than a finished track.

Ouch. I loved Boom Boom Pow, from start to finish aswell (although I agree the end was better than the beginning). I'm guessing you also hate the first half of Imma Be, and like the last half?

!?!?! :o That was awesome! :o And to be fair, poor Beyonce seemed to release the whole album. I'd say:

Video Phone - BEST

Single Ladies

Sweet Dreams

Ego

Why Don't You Love Me?

Radio

Diva

Halo

Broken-Hearted Girl

If I Were a Boy - WORST

For the ISAF singles I'd say:

BEST - Halo

If I Were A Boy

Sweet Dreams

Broken Hearted Girl

Why Don't You Love Me

Single Ladies

Ego

Video Phone

Diva

I actually love them all though :o Everything from SL up is a 10/10, Ego is a 9, VP is an 8 (as is Diva) :o
