Alot of artists have different songs released at different times to suit different countries, Adele isnt the first and wont be the last. :) Sometimes its necessary to do so. SLY has done so well here, and will be one of those songs that people will always remember and will sell a million by end of year making it the biggest song of this year, but can anyone really see Radio in the US picking it up and playing it non-stop? I doubt that. SLY was so huge here because of the amazing brits performance (which created so much hype - and news spreads quicker here in UK then it would in US obviously due to size) and TV/Radio support, UK and US are so different, US is so much bigger its a lot harder to get a song noticed. Look at Rolling in the Deep its #1 over there right now on iTunes and #2 officially :w00t: :w00t: and it was released months ago! Here in UK a song can get its peak in the first week its released.

Yes, I can definitely see that happening. After they move on from Forget You, anyway.

Agree with the rest of your post though. Loads of artists release singles in different orders times in different countries. Heck, I can't think of many that haven't done that at some point.

In the US, every single song is released on air, on sale. So songs by new artists take ages to climb the chart and become popular. They've had less than 20 songs debut at #1 in the chart's history, I believe.

I can't see SFTTR getting number 1 - the album's sold around 2 million now, surely that will affect its sales? I think top 10 would be an achievement in this case

But there's a song in the top 10 right now off a 2 million-selling album. And that song itself has already sold three-quarters of a million. Not to mention, SFTTR is a better song. I think it'll easily go top 10. Top 10 is an achievement, obviously (it's an achievement for all songs), but I'll be literally gobsmacked if SFTTR doesn't get top 10.

but that song got to number 1 off the back of its first high profile performance and before the album sold even a million

oh don't get me wrong, I expect it to go top 10- although it would need something pretty special to get it to number 1

Yeah. I was talking about it going top 10 in that post, rather than #1.

Great to see Bass Down Low in the top 40!!! :w00t:

It's always confused me, how with some Sunday releases, some immediately shoot up iTunes in a matter of days, whilst others gradually climb up over the week. Dirty Talk and Bass Down Low have both been held back for like an eternity, yet climbed slowly, whilst songs like Guilt have also been held back for ages, but they climb really fast.

Songs that take a while to climb are just the ones not many people know about before release. Guilt was alfready receiving airplay, DT and BDL were not.

Anyway, Bruno seems to have stalled around 80% of LMFAO, looks like we might have LMFAO for a fourth week at #1 after all :(

Bruno's only stalling a bit because of the weekend effect (it may be prolonged as Monday's another bank holiday) I'm sure once the week gets going, he'll pick up again, its what happened to LMFAO

I get that but I think he's been on 80% or so since about Wednesday. :(

oh, well, lets hope he can pick up again- LMFAO for a fourth week would be a little bit too much :drama:

No doubt Bruno will be nearing the top of the charts again soon as he will be featured alongside Beyoncé on Jay-Z and Kanye's new single, "Lift Off" from their upcoming album Watch the Throne. It's set to be released soon.

From who's album :o? Have they made one together, as four of them? Anyway, can't wait to be hearing that.

It's Jay-Z and Kanye's collaborative album :) I can't wait to hear it either - one of my fave female singers plus one of my fave male singers with two of my fave rappers (not close to Nicki Minaj my fave though )

I don't think 'Someone Like You' will have a worldwide release. I just can't see it.

Btw, am I the only one who thinks SLY is better than SFTTR? Maybe it hasn't fully grown on me yet but I just think SLY is superior.

I really can't wait until the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Jason DeRulo and Alexandra Burke impact the charts again.

Apparently, a preview of Jason's new single will premiere on May 9th.

We should be hearing a snippet at least on the 2nd May for Jason's new single! :D Really, REALLY can't wait. Hope it's a stormer like 'Ridin' Solo'/'Strobelight'!

All those artists you mentioned has got me all excited for the year ahead! :w00t:

Also speaking of Adele on Graham Norton. Just watched this and I'm in STITCHES! LOL

I do love her so, so much as a person. It's a shame her album is quite boring after a few listens :(

Yeah. Either that, or he's doing better than he expected in the US, so wants to work on that more, or he's got some new producers wanting to make songs for him, or something.

I don't really mind, as long as this doesn't mean he takes a massive break between singles. I'm scared he'll suffer the same fate as Duffy, and everyone will forget about him. :( If he does have a 6 month break between singles, I at least hope one of his songs gets overused on the X Factor to remind everyone he exists.

Wiz Khalifa is coming to tour the UK soon, so perhaps that might be when Tinie premieres his new single? Here's hoping! :D

Well, it appears in all his posts because it's his signature?

Perhaps he should emulate Dido, and take a 5 year break to make his next album as good as possible... oh, wait...

:o

That song could finally return Kanye to the top of the charts then :D I say 'finally', he was last #1 in 2009 with Run This Town but he hasn't been #1 as the lead artist since Stronger in 2007.

It's a collaborative album between Jay-Z and Kanye. Beyoncé and Bruno will be featuring on "Lift Off" only.

3rd #1 for Bruno shortly, hopefully :D

Actually fourth, if you count his collaboration with B.O.B..
